I'm not hoping for anything anywhere near max, but I'm hoping I'll do ok with:
Intel Pentium D 3.0GHz (Dual Core)
Nvidia 9500GT
2gigs RAM
1280x1024 is what I run my resolution at...but I run some games lower to get better graphics.
Windows Vista.

I want to get Windows 7, but not sure if I'd see a big enough improvement in performance to justify it. (money's tight)

Medium, no AA.

Medium, no AA.

That's been my average with games on this system. Medium with no AA.
Except for two rare cases: Assassin's Creed and Dead Space. Both I could run with everything on and maxed. Never checked the FPS, but never had any lag and that's all that mattered to me.

It blew my mind how well Assassin's Creed ran

First of all I am glad that all my fellow gamers on dual cores can feel a bit more relaxed now that the devs downgraded the recommended requirements. Although I knew it all along that a decent dual core would be able to run this game well enough. But what about all of us on quad cores? Does anybody know whether the game was made to take advantage of four cores, or the earlier requirements were just a marketing gimmick to give the impression that this is a next gen game?

I'd like to know if my pc will run it please, it's just below the minimum, but that hasn't stopped me from playing in the past, on minimal settings...

My Specs:
OS: Windows XP with SP2
CPU: AMD Athlon 64, 1.8 GHz
RAM: 1GB
Video: NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT 128MB

I'm just under on the CPU speed, will that make DA:O completely unplayable?

What's your clock speed?  The system requirements thread (have to be logged in to see devs posts, but I recommend doing that) will give you slightly contradictory answers.  At one point, a dev suggests that you'll see improvement, but that it won't be "significant" - at another point, a dev suggests that a higher clock speed dual core will run the game better than a slower quad core.  To me that suggests that it probably won't do much for you.

CPU: QuadCore Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, 1600 MHz (6 x 267)
Mobo: Asus P5N32-E SLI (2 PCI, 1 PCI-E x1, 3 PCI-E x16, 4 DDR2 DIMM, Audio, Dual Gigabit LAN, IEEE-1394)
Chipset: nVIDIA nForce 680i SLI
RAM: Corsair XMS2 CM2X2048-6400C4DHX 2 GB DDR2-800 DDR2 SDRAM (5-5-5-18 @ 400 Mhz) (4-4-4-13 @ 270 Mhz) -> times 4. (so 8 GB in total but im using only 4 ATM till i get a 64 bit windows 7)

Videocard: Asus EN8800GTX 768 MB GDDR3

Edit : My cpu runs at 2.4 ghz standard, but I have a speedstep like Bios, so it throttles the speed depending on usage.

Yeah, I've always thought that the earlier quad requirement was more of a marketing gimmick. Anyway, my cpu is the Phenom II x4 955 @3.2 GHz that I can easily overclock to 3.6 GHz with stock voltage.

@Syrellaris are you asking? I would be surprised if you couldn't max the game.

Ha - it's you!  Yep, that's max with no problems or I'll eat my own card.

@miltros: It's unfortunate.  The only positive interpretation I can come up with is that they don't want to scare off dual core owners, so they're playing up that angle.  You'd think they'd talk up quad core performance for the same reason, though - the objectives don't need to conflict if the game was designed to take advantage of various setups.

@wrexincrew: Yeah, it is hard to say what their real intentions are. Let's hope that the game was designed to take advantage of both architectures. Thanks for the link anyway.

@ Miltos

I believe the game is designed to only use the Dual core to its advantage. However, if you see a slow down, while using a quad core, then set the architecture of your quad core to Dual core for Dragon Age. This should force your Quad core to go only use 2 cores with the full capacity for Dragon age, basicly creating a virtual like Dual core architecture.

Yes I can easily do that by using the AMD overdrive and if you go for an I7 8xx for your new build they can do it automatically.

Having said that, If I were to go for an i7 I would still go for the 9xx series.

You can probably struggle on with low settings, just expect framerate to drop substantially at times.

Hi, I'm wondering if my computer can run DA:O on maybe high setting with some AA:

Win 7 64 bit

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6000+ 3 GHz

4 gigs RAM

EVGA GeForce 9800 GT 512MB

Thanks for any help!

Oh I forgot to mention I'd like to run the game in my native resolution of 1680x1050. Think it'll work or will I have to settle for a lower res?

Should work like a charm. Worst case is that you'll run it on high, instead of max.

This forum is a hell for my pc at the moment... I could've gone for the sixtet post, but I thought that wouldn't be a good idea.
