I'm planning on buying a new pc, since this pc can't even get the character creator started.
Curious to hear what you think about it, I'm aiming at playing the game on maxed graphics :)

processor
Intel Core i5 750
motherboard
MSI P55-GD65
Cooler
Cooler Master Hyper TX3 (or maybe the 212+)
Powersupply
Antec TruePower TP-650
memory
Kingston ValueRAM KVR1333D3N9K2/4G
graphics
Club3D HD 5850 1GB (CGAX-58524IDP)
harddisk
Samsung Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ, 1TB

With overclocking I should be able to get the processor to 3.2 or even 3.6gHz, but I doubt that'll be necesarry.
this any good?:)

Hardware will let you pick the highest settings, with the possible exception of 2560x1600 with 16xAA.

Nice build, if you can track down a 5850 for sale.  You might also get the G.Skill Ripjaws CL7 1333 RAM.

The only thing I would change on that build is the power supply.  I *HIGHLY* recommend the Corsair 750W over the Antec.  Single rail means less power fluctuation, and the continuous power supply on that Antec will run up your electric bill.

Doh, last reply didn't get through

Want to thank you guys for the fast replies :)

I don't think the resolution will be a big problem, as I"m planning on buying a samsun syncmaster p2450h which has a resolution of 1920x1080 full hd ofcourse. So, unless I'm mistaking, playing the game on 2560x1600 won't have any real use :)

Tthe 5850 is a pain to get your hands on, but we have a few retailers here in holland who still deliver it within 2 weeks, so that's ok I guess.

As for the power supply, I've put the antec in there because I might wanna cross fire 2 5850's later on and the use of power ain't really any concern to me as I'm renting a room which has an all inclusive contract ;)

thanks again for the replies :D

2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

4 GB 667 Mhz DDR2 SDRAM

GeForce 8600M GT 256MB

might sound like a stupid question but, would i be better off running it in XP, or windows 7?

OK, another question:

My comp is currently:
a core 2 6600@2.4Ghz
GeForce 8600GTgraphics card
2G memory
Running Vista SP2
The motherboard is an Asus P5N-E SLI

If I were to put a couple hundred bucks into upgrading it, how could I get the most bang for my money?

Wrong on all counts.  (1) The Truepower New has rock-solid voltage stability, particularly on the 5V and 3.3V rails (it uses Seasonic's higher-end DC-DC conversion design).  (2) Most Seasonic builds have had only "virtual" rails anyway.  (3) The Seasonic-built Truepower New is a much better platform than the aging Channel Well design of the Corsair 750TX, which was the weak spot in Corsair's lineup.  The new Corsair HX, yes -- that's very good and also uses DC-DC conversion -- but that's considerably more expensive as well.  (4) The fact that you think the Antec draws 650W continuously shows that you're unfortunately confused about this stuff.

If you're considering crossfire 5850s, I'd up the wattage to 750 to leave yourself lots of headroom. Besides, the 750W Antec Truepower New is obscenely cheap right now.

My laptop is sporting an Intel Core 2 Duo 2,4 Ghz and 3 GB RAM (Vista), so I know I'm fine in that area..however, I'm worried about how well my Mobility Radeon HD 4570 can run this game.
Think I can run it at medium-ish settings at ~30 fps? Or lower?

I'm wondering if my PC could handle the 1920x1200 resolution.

It has the following spec :

Intel core duo @ 3.00Ghz

Nvidia GeForce 9800GT

4GB RAM

I'm on the edge of buying this but my pc screen is a 1920x1200 one and all resolutions beneath that look blurry

Thanks in advance

The Antec is superior to the 750W Corsair, which is good but has a lot of ripple when stressed. The corsair is based on a platform that has been out for a while and is starting to show it's age. Also you're wrong that single rail means less power flactuation, quite the opposite. In fact the main fault of the Enhance platform the Corsair is based on is the ripple(small flactuations in Voltage) it produces at high load. Finally all PC power supplies are continuous....

Built this computer over 2 years ago, but I hope it can cope with medium to high graphics. Still running Win XP Pro which also takes the requirements down a bit compared to Vista/W7 I believe.

Q6600 (2,4ghz Quad)
8800GT 512
2048mb DDR2 DDR2 800mhz Mushkin
Gigabyte P35-DS4 motherboard

I'll be playing at 1440x900 on a widescreen 19" which will also probably give me more performance because of a relatively low resolution. So I'd say Medium to High setting, aye?

It can probably run decent fps at medium, yes.

All reports seem to indicate that a 9800gt can run the game with very high settings, even at higher resolutions.

No need to worry, you can max the game easily.

All I really want to christmas is being able to easily quote multiple people in the same post.

You can pull off high settings at most resolutions.

Hey, I have an Acer Aspire 5738 with a Pentium® Dual-Core CPU Processor T4200, 2.00 Ghz, 4 Gig Ram. Would your reckon it would work? or should I get it upgraded?

Quick reply is appreciated:)
