The rest of the system is good 4 GB RAM, Core 2 Duo T9400 (2.53 Ghz, 6 MB cache)
Thoughts?

Hey, I have an Acer Aspire 5738 with a Pentium® Dual-Core CPU Processor T4200, 2.00 Ghz, 4 Gig Ram. Would your reckon it would work? or should I get it upgraded?
Quick reply is appreciated:)
What sort of graphics card does it have?
Also, very few laptops allow for wide-scale upgrading.

I have a Dell Precision M6400 (workstation laptop) that all the specs seem good for but I am unsure of the video card. It includes a nVidia Quadro FX 2700 video card (512 MB) but I can't find how this card stacks up to the 8800 GTS and how will the game run on this card.

It's based on a 9700m GTS, you will be fine at medium settings, possibly highish.

Windows 7 64bit
AMD X2 4600+(2.4ghz dual core)
4 Gigs of ram
ATi 3870
I've been toying with dropping a grand on a new system, but so far I haven't hit anything that requires something bigger/better. Will Dragon Age do that?

Your CPU is a bottleneck i'm afraid, but the game should be playeble with decent settings at low resolutions.aregowe wrote...

Ronnan, I think that you will have a very hard time running DA:O with that set up, so yeah I would definitely drop the grand!! Oh Yeah I dropped about 1300 at Tigerdirect.com and picked up some great deals on very good equipment.
The hell..
Advertisements in the forums, great.
Ronnan, you can run high settings.

Sorry I did not mean to come across as advertising, I was just saying that Tigerdirect.com was a good place to check out new gear for Ronnan, since it has worked so well for me, again sorry to come across wrong.
I overreacted as well, thought it was some employee advertising until I sae your profile.
Regardless, a 2,4GHz AMD x2 and HD3870 will run the game @ high on most resolutions, CPU requirements seem to be far lower than first thought(devs mention playing at medium with an X2 with one core disabled).
in any case, he will not have a have time playing the game.

Hoping for max settings. Worried about only having 2 cores though.
No need to worry, you can max the game easily.
All I really want to christmas is being able to easily quote multiple people in the same post.
But will it run smooth or will it stutter and lag? Thinking 1680x1050 or 1920x1200 with 2xAA and 8xAF. Will this stay above 30fps and run smooth?
According to this: www.pcgameshardware.com/aid,698666/Dragon-Age-Origins-System-Requirements-Benchmarks-and-Graphics-Tuning/Practice/
It looks like the game is a lot more CPU heavy and will run perhaps a lot worse than we all expected. I am hoping it will be ok but it doesn't look that good for only 2 cores.
