I'll bet money right now it's not. I predict that when the game runs out people are going to flock to these forums complaining of low fps on their 7800, 7900, x1800.

Please read the developer posts in the original system requirements thread.

http://daforums.biow...82449&forum=135

These two  in particular:

To the older AMD questions I ran the game all through development on the following system:

AMD
64 X2 Dual 4400+ 2.21Ghz w/ 3 gigs of RAM which I assume is DDR 2
without pulling the box apart. I tried and it runs really well on 1.5
Gigs but I constantly had a crapload of other apps running so hence the
3.
The video card I had was a 256MB 7800GT.
OS was XP

I ran on medium settings and the game ran really well - 99% of the time about 20fps and usually between 25-40.

In general we designed the game so that 7800-7950 series nVidias
and X1800XT ATIs would run the game well on medium graphics settings.
Anything above that and you should be thinking about switching to the
higher settings. You should know that the game looks great on medium
settings as well, I wouldn't lose sleep if my system didn't meet the
recommended specifications.

I have a PC above the minimum specs, but only get 15fps in the CC (1024*768 resolution). I'm quite worried (the FPS will certainly drop ingame)
Here are my specs:
System Model: EasyNote SB85
Processor: Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU T7250 @ 2.00GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.0GHz
Memory: 3062MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS
Windows vista 32

It's a laptop, cannot upgrade (and can't afford a new PC). Any advice?

Your specs are actually not all that much above minimum specs. I think it merely reachs the minimum specs.

The keyword here is "M". Laptop graphics cards/CPU generally have massive disadvantages when compared to desktop hardware.

Erm, actually, the keyword for her is "GS".  The 8600M GS has *half* the shaders of the 8600M GT (or the desktop 8600GT) -- 16 vs 32.  Clocks are still decent (much better than the desktop 8500GT, for example), but it really shouldn't be called a 8600 at all.

So you're on low, I'm afraid.  Probably pretty decently on low, but still low.

My list was basically rule of thumb based on the following reference points specifically given by the devs:

7800GT on medium
9600GT on high
8800GTS (512mb) on very high (maximum) at 1080p

There's little point in arguing with these, since I'm just reciting what was in dev posts.

As I said, though, notebook cards will vary. If you want to find out yourself, click on your card on the list to the right here and compare the # of shaders, clock speeds, and memory bus size to the desktop versions (5 second google!).  Hint:  if your vidcard isn't in class 1 or 2, it's going to be rough going (low or worse).

If I can run this at a decent resolution/FPS I will be happy:

AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor 3500+

2.21 GHz, 2GB of Ram

Service Pack 2

GeForce 7600 GT, 256

Windows XP

Current Display Mode: 1680 x 1050

Full recommended specs:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4Ghz Processor or equivalent
AMD Phenom II X2 Dual-Core 2.7 GHz or greater
RAM: 2 GB (XP) or 3 GB (Windows Vista/Windows 7)
Video: ATI 3850 512 MB or greater
NVIDIA 8800GTS 512 MB or greater
DVD ROM (Physical copy)
20 GB HD space

Minimum requirements stay as they were before.

As a reminder, recommended specs should run you the game at the highest quality setting available, and at relatively high resolutions. If you meet or exceed the video card primarily, and the CPU isn't considerably lagging behind, you will get all the graphics details the game has to offer.

Hmm... so I wonder if I could get max settings now:

CPU: Core 2 Duo 2.13 GHz
RAM: 2 GB
Video: Geforce 8800GT 512 MB
OS: XP

My video card is pretty much equivalent but the CPU lags slightly.  I'm thinking high settings def but maybe not max.

If you really want to impress me buy yourself a graphic card nvidia gtx 295 or the ati radeon 5870...the 16 gigs ram are overkill...my xp can only use 3 although I have 4gigs ram...quad core is good and will serve you well in the near future and the sound blaster doesn't matter anyway...

Actually, the Soundblaster *will* make a marginal difference in some games; onboard audio /does/ use the CPU for a lot of the processing, while a dedicated sound card allows you to offload that processing onto the card itself.  However, the difference is generally so miniscule that only the most diehard FPS gamers who are determined to eke out every single cycle they can -- the sort who buy Xeno network cards to offload their network processing, as well -- are probably going to actually care about the performance gain.

I would not think Dragon Age is one of those games where the difference between 'I have onboard audio' and 'Look, I've got an X-Fi!' is going to be significant, performance-wise.

(Sorry; I used to be a games programmer.  Vast swaths of my brain are still filled with this sort of stuff.)

What, no GTX295 on the list? What about the insane gamers who drop +$500 on a dual-GPU overclocked card with 1.8GB of RAM? How will they know if their card can handle the game?? Think of the children!!

Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU P8600@2.40GHz(2 CPU's)

NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GT

A lot of this will depend on what resolution you're running in.  The 9600M GT should probably handle the game reasonably well at 1440x900 and medium or medium-high settings, I'd think, but I'd imagine running at 1920x1200 or anything similar would be paaaainful.  The 9800M GT is a considerably more capable card (higher bandwidth, and twice the shaders, if I recall correctly), so if you're hanging around at the lower resolutions I'd think you could definitely get high settings out of your setup.  If you're pushing the resolution to 1920x1200 or such, you might have to drop down to medium or medium-high again.

(Obviously this is all guesswork; I'm just basing this on my gaming experiences on my own laptop, with similar specs but the slightly more anemic 9600M GT.  I plan to play DA:O on my desktop, though.)

Low, maybe a setting or two at medium depending on how many FPS you like. But it will run.

Yup. Also that the devs consider between an average between 20 and 25 FPS playable, which bugs the hell out of me. I assume most folks would like solid 30 FPS.
