So...

Bethany died from the Blight when about to exit the Deep Roads.

What.
In.
The...

I loved my sister! Now I have lost both siblings!

On a more serious note, is there a way to remotely prevent it? I heard something happens to her if you don't bring her. I don't know much about that latter, but I am assuming the Templars grab her since she expressed in the convo with Mother at the expedition departure that it was either Darkspawn or Templars; and she could actually fight Darkspawn. What happens if you bring a different companion, or a different Mage at that. Do they die too?

I'm a bit pissed I lost her. I used her in my party a lot! Oh well. As far as a different Mage to use, who is overall better if my PC is a 2h War, and I keep Isabela and Varric in my party; Merril or Anders? I am leaning towards Anders.

Looking forward to what you guys have to say.

Apparently if you bring Anders with you he turns her into a Grey Warden, and if you leave her at home she is put into the Circle.

If you bring Anders and Bethany, she can make the choice to become a Grey Warden but she still leaves the party. If you bring someone instead of her, she goes to the Circle. I don't believe there is a way to prevent her from leaving the group.

Are you kidding me? I wish I would have known because my last save is like 3 hours prior, I would have rather had her become a Grey Warden or something so she could of at least NOT DIED.

Like seriously? I'm super pissed.

So bringing Anders is a confirmed way of keeping her alive, if not in your party?

Anders and Bethany in your party will let them become a Grey Warden.

*spoiler*
If you leave her home and she joins the circle, you get to use her in the final quest.

This doesn't surprise me. It is actually what I thought would happen. Maybe taking Bethany or Carver along with Ander provides a change in the story for DA3? Who knows.

If you take Carver without Anders, he'll die.

If you take Carver and Anders, he'll become a Grey Warden and leave the party.
