Over on the Dragon Age wiki, it says that you can trigger the encounter with Zevran after finishing one of the four main quests OR the Urn of Sacred Ashes... is the latter true? (I'm hoping to get him ASAP, but I also want him present for the Circle quest... ) Thanks for any help

Lothering: Lel, Sten -> Honnleath: Shale (If you have Stone Prisoner) -> Orz till you get Ohgren -> Cirlce Tower: Wynne -> walk around till Zev shows up -> On with the game. You now have all attainable party members minus the "Secret Companion"
I think I was only at level 9 when I completed my party. I just left out any side quests that could be completed later on until I had my entire party gathered.

Seriously, as soon as I started finding out a little about Zev, I knew I had to get him, stat. He's exactly my kind of character. XD
Edit: whoops, ninja'd, thanks Chain-Gore! (Sounds like you can get Oghren before actually completing that quest line? Ooh...)

For thorough clarification's sake:
After Lothering, I went directly to Denerim (the Market District) to Genitivi's house. You can get the Urn quest there just from pure nosiness.

Just coming back to report it worked! (And boy, is Zevran entertaining. XD)

Hooray!
Doesn't that Redcliffe knight in the chantry in Lothering tell you about Genitivi? Or else it's in the note you show him, I forget. So from an RP perspective you were just proactive about pursuing the cure rather than waiting for Isolde to ask you to find it
And yeah, even if you can't catch fake-Weylon in a lie, if you just walk towards the back room he'll hulk out on you since he stashed the corpse back there. Saves you the trip to Lake Calenhad.

I am checking if the destruction of Lothering will be triggered by the time Zevran joins the group, and if the Redcliffe major plot still accessible.

Will any part of the Redcliffe quest be missing since I've already gotten the ashes? Will everyone still say "maybe you should go find the urn" even if I already have the ashes in my inventory?

I'm just leaving Lothering and I too want to get Zevran ASAP. So if I'm reading this thread correctly, I can go straight to Denerim, go to Genitivi's home, get the Urn quest, go to Haven and do everything there to find the Urn and get the ashes, then travel and see Zevran's cutscene, travel again and recruit Zevran, and then I can do any of the 4 main quests?

You can now download Charsen's ZevranASAP to get the assassin immediately after Lothering. But if you want to play unmodded, you have to finish one of the quests. So, completely finishing Redcliffe (which requires a bit of work) would do it.

So, Completing any of the four quest will get me Zevran, I did the redcliff first and that was an interesting fight. I am thinking of going to the Dalvish first this time through cuz I got stuck trying to get back to Radcliff in a prior character. Has anyone gone that way yet?
Esjolin tipped me off a few weeks ago--visiting the Dalish first is the best route to go for maximum dialogue with him, unless you want to see his reaction to your suggesting to swiftrunner and the lady that you slaughter the Dalish elves.

And if you managed to save everyone at Redcliffe, got the Circle to help save Connor, and THEN already found the long-lost mythical religious curative...well it certainly cements your reputation as miracle-worker and I love just how shocked Teagan is since he didn't really believe in it in the first place and Isolde is even tolerable in that scene.sylvanaerie wrote...
yea they will ask you to go and you get the optioin then of saying "I have them on me right now" and voila, its cure time.

like Tellervo said, my mod will let you pick up Zevran right after Lothering, so you can run through Lothering grab him after the first Archdemon dream, then go back to Lothering and quest with him if you like. It also moves the cutscene and codex entries so they fit with that timeline.
Link in my sig -- either way you do it, have fun with Zev =)
