So I just finished the Deep Roads part.

I heard that for a short period of time Isabela leaves in Act 1, and apparently you get quests and what-not to make her your friend? I have been trying to get her as my friend, and it still isn't even close to maxed yet. I'm in act 2 (I think?) now. I want to romance her, but I CAN NEVER TALK TO HER. When you click companions now they just say a couple lines, so I can't talk to her or anything to romance / raise my Friend level with her.

About the her leaving the party part, she said at some point (forgot the quest that I was doing at the time) that she had to go. I don't really understand why she said that, because as soon as I left the area she was in the Hanged Man just sitting drinking and I couldn't dialog with her. When I went to leave the Hanged Man I noticed she was available to be in my group again, but she never said anything about why she left; and she left for like a whole... 30 seconds?

I did do that quest for that guy where you have to get his poison, that's the last quest I did for her and that was a LONG time ago. (Several hours)

Did I screw up at some point? Is my game screwed up to Friend or Romance Isabela now? I don't understand what I did wrong...

Flirt with her whenever you can. You need to be friendly with her to romance her.
Though she will sleep with you no matter what you are, it needs to be friendly to love.

Flirt with her during "Isabela's Ongoing Search" quest at Act 2.
Then she visits Hawke's house at night randomly and sleeps with you.
Flirt with her more whenever you can and she'll slip with you again.
Then ask her why she doesn't want to fall in love and choose all the "?" responses.
Make sure she returns at the end of Act 2, and keep her in your party.
Then get her to 100% Friendship, give her both gifts to unlock her final love quest.
Talk with her before the ending of the game to complete the romance and get the achevement.

She seems to just not want to do some quests, she left me on a quest in Act 2 as well, but all she did was go back to the bar.

I have her at 75% friend right now, and I'm not quite sure how I did it because I didn't romance her. On one quest in Act 2 I got a big friend boost, which opened up a special companion dialogue quest which got me a huge boost.

So it's possible to get her up there, but you have to know how to talk to her (sarcasm and teasing seems to work for me).

She just leaves for The Hanged Man, she don't like her no Qunari.

You can bring her she just won't go in, she'll turn around.
It'll make more sense why later on. But you don't get disapproval from her, she just leaves the party slot.

In my playthrough, in Act 3, she was in the estate with 100% friendship after I slept with her and talked about romance, but she just stands next to the writing desk with an "!" on her head and won't say anything but companion banter whenever I click her instead of initiating a discussion. I didn't get the romance achievement...so I think my game is bugged.

Still trying to find out how I can even get her into the party. I played through til about act 2 ending and said heck with and started over.

When she returns in Act 2, there's an option to keep her or get rid of her.

Go to your home at night.
There is no fight with Petrice, you fight her people, then she is killed by Qunari.

Had the exact same thing happen. Looks like she's bugged and there's no way to finish the romance. Really lame.

I found the first gift, got her to admit that she thought she was falling for me and bedded her (way back early in act 2) Where/what is the 2nd gift?

When / where do you get the first game?

Can't remember precisely, only that it was in a chest at the end of a dungeon (big help, I know) I'm sure someone could tell you though. It's a model of a ship, and allows you to flirt with her enough to get her to sleep with you.

Do you remember how far into Act 2 it was, like was it at the end during Quarian conflict or what?

As for the second gift:

Act 3: A Rivaini Talisman: Found in disused passage. Access by manhole in Docks at night.

I found the talisman and she's still bugged for me. She shows up in the house with the exclamation mark, but won't answer to me.

"converse with her in the Gallows Prison or Fallows Courtyard in The Last
Straw to complete the romance"
