 With the rogue, i don't how it happened. I was doing that talent that makes you appear behind an enemy for a back stab, then he rushed me and pushed me up onto the area where the crowd is viewing from, there's an invisible barried between the fight area and the stairs. So I just kept summoning my dog, and getting him close to the stairs and attack from there, when he's almost drained me, i just back off a bit so he can't touch me. 



With the mage, my strategy was to wait for him to rush me, get out of the way. when he stops he seems to be vulnerable for a few seconds. When he gets too close I just encased him in stone and then use maelstrom, that area lightning spells. Went through LOTs of potions.

For last run through with my warrior, after about getting killed 3 times, I just went to options and changed the difficulty to casual (the easiest settings). I'd probably suggest anyone do the same if they're having too much difficulty with any class.

Use the potion which auto-heals you when you get down to zero health, or lacking that keep clicking regular potion while you're hanging on the sword -- with bit of luck it should trigger as soon as you're thrown on the floor and heal you enough to withstand the next hit, at which point you're in control enough to get out of the way and avoid more hits.

This happened to me too, problem is he knocked me right into the middle of a wall, and i was stuck there, couldn't move and still taking damage Good Times

Use the Grenades on him! He is stunned and then you can whale on him for a good bit. I kited him a lot as well. Have done this as a rogue and as DPS war.

Usefull strategy, though i usually don't use poisons and bombs in DA2 as they were pretty much pointless in DA:O. 

I just walked away and left my dw rogue duelist auto attacking, made a cup of coffee and came back, and she was dead Good times

Might not be as heroic, but refusing to duel and just fighting him with the whole room was the way I took. I tried the duel and starting having flashbacks to the damn rock wraith fight. Plus I'm on nightmare and had only 4 health pots left.
I'm sorry, but chipping away at him him for 140dmg per special attack and him using health pots is not my idea of a good time. My group vs his group, however, was excellent fun and only took me 2 times.

I run in circles waiting the cooldown to backstab - pause - backstab, sometimes he caught me with his blade then healt/backstab it took 10 minutes to kill him but in the end he died.

I kited a lot with my rogue and used the dog, archery and a few grenades. The dog would occasional get aggro which let me get a few shots off. He only hit me once or twice, and never with his whirlwind ability.

I beat him 1 v 1 with my rogue.... I activated precision so it would give me more critical hits ... just move sideways when he's attacking dont move backwards cuase his attacks will still hit you... and hit him 2 to three times then move again... keep your dog out as much as you can... try to stun him with miasmic flask... Confusion sometimes stuns him for a really long time so you can use your best attacks... Takes time to beat him but evade a lot and use health potions when you fail to evade... and thats pretty much it... Good luck to all of you rogues XD

... I'm trying it with my party, on casual, i'm using: Merrill,myself (lv.15 rogue), Aveline and Anders. Every one keeps dying within like 10min... can someone help me. I just can't beat him at all.

I'm gonna suggest you read a guide or 2.  Start with the tactics guide in my signature.

Well...maybe it's just me and my lack of technical brilliance but I'm having problems with the party aspect of the arishok as well. I am a dual-wielding rogue and I have aveline varric and anders in my party. How do you take out the spell casters? Do you just charge up the steps and go balls deep or do you hide the squishy anders in the corner and have aveline protect him. They all die very fast unless I do serious babysitting.

@Noeliee I think you would have gotten more replies had you started a brand new topic, Anyways, I have trouble with this fight too. What I do is kill the guys on the bottom until a Saarebas comes down then I try to kill him. This doesn't work very well but that's what I do.

Okay thanks. Any help counts. How do you set up your party's tactics? For me it's just hard to micromanage everyone and to kill the saarebas while the arishok is running around letting loose.

nevermind. sad part is i reverted to an earlier save and dueled the guy and beat him easily.

What class are you?

If possible, use nature or cold weapons since they will deal double damage (desdemona's blade for warriors, cold-blooded/generic cold staves for mages, beraht's revenge for rogues).

Another method could be to load up on electricity warding runes so you can pretty much ignore the mages and focus on killing the arishok as fast as possible.

Generally speaking, you shouldn't have a problem with a DPS oriented party, but specific strategies/advice would probably depend on your party composition. Maybe try watching a few vids or reading through a few of the discussion threads (there's a whole stack in addition to this one)
