I know that the OC is not intended to be soloed. I can think of 2 seperate forced compainons, and one battle (reavers) that maybe impossible to do on ones own.  I just did a search and only found one topic discouraging someone from a solo rogue, so it's not a popular topic.

That said has anyone made a serious attempt to complete the game on there own. Many other RPG's have hard core players doing just that (BG1/2 for example).

If you did try what was your build?

How far did you make it?

What choices did you make to get there?

How did you handle the forced companions?

Which battles were problematic? Solution?

While I haven't tried soloing the OC, I cannot see how it can be possible.

First, you would have to avoid encounters which require a certain companion (i.e. Skymirror, Eyegouger Lair, Ember) - and there are a lot of these and some are plot critical.

Second, once Shandra is rescued she cannot be dropped from your party.

Third, as you have pointed out, certain enemies cannot be defeated without certain companions. You cannot read Truename scrolls.

While I don't know if anyone has attempted the rest of the OC solo, imo it simply wouldn't be worthwhile doing.

I guess you can put obligatory companions on "Hold" and puppet mode (or simply deactivate their AI).

For builds, anything with good damage and defense should be able to do it. Frezerkers, Clerics, Wizards/Sorcerers, Bards, maybe Druids...

I haven't tried to solo the OC, but I've played characters that did most of the killing by themselves. So I think it would be doable.

I was thinking that any forced companions would be used with "hold and drag" type tactics. That is really the only option for soloing unless someone was set up a mod that would let you work with them just hanging out at the bar.

Most important part of a "solo" attempt would be ensureing that only the PC would be contibuting towards XP earnings and that the "supporting cast" was not used in any meaningful fasion. ie heal/mule/distract/attack/defend.

It's been awhile but is it possible for the PC to read the true name scolls? I can't remember at this point in the night.

Also has anyone defeated the KoS single handedly?

I have had very different experiances even from the same game, but just wonder if it can be done. My first play though I had batteled with my whole party for over 40min. We had no spells left except the Warlock's, no potions, no item specials, and then KoS just took us out one by one. I reloaded did more or less the same tactics as the first time and he was done in under 2 min. I've used that same reload and have had several quicky's (more so since i had patched, but I havenot played this out since patch 16 or so) and a handfull of marithon battles. Interesting, but very inconsitant.
