"We are sorry an error has occured. There is a problem with your games setup. Please reinstall the game".
I meet all the system requirements and I don't understand why the game stops at this point.
Processor : Intel® Core2 Duo CPU T6600 @ 2.20Ghz
OS: Window7 64 Bit
RAM: 4G
DirectX: 11
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570
All I noticed that the game has tryed to update my directX (don't know if it has been successful or not) the 1st time I have installed the game. Now It's the 4th time I got no directX update messages but I'm still strucked in the same problem with no good news.
Should I have to re-install the directX ?
P.S. The AntiVirus has been turned off in the installation process and in the release control check...
I really can't figure out where is the problem...

If you're getting errors when just copying the files off the disc in Explorer, then most likely your drive has worn out and needs replacing. Especially if it's happening at about the same place on different discs.
I got a new drive and it worked, thank you.
Since the old one didn't give me any trouble besides those games thus I I though it not likely to be the problem.

"We are sorry an error has occured. There is a problem with your games setup. Please reinstall the game".
I've had this exact same BS message... it seems that when installing when you're prompted to install DirextX 10 - do it even if, like me, you're running a Win7 64 SP1 system with DX11 installed.
If you don't want to do a full re-install of the game, try this (it seems to have worked for me):
1: make sure you're logged in with an administrator account
2: create a system restore point (I'm paranoid an generally do this before installing any system files)
3: right-click on your DVD drive icon in "Computer" (the one with the DA2 disk in if you have more than one) and select "open" from the context-sensitive menu.
4: You should see a load of folders and files on the disk; there will be a folder called "DirectX" - open it,
5: In that folder is a file called "DXSETUP.exe" - run that and it should check your system and see if there are any DirectX updates required (for whichever version of DirectX you're using).
Once it's completed the DirectX update you _should_ be able to run the game without having to reinstall.
Hope that helps.

The games might have some shonky spin-speed dependant DRM on them (remember Starfarce?) which can mean even a slightly squiffy drive might be rejected... better yet, if the DRM is as bad as Starfarce it can actually damage your optical drives itself - thus causing the problem that prevents it to run and requiring you to purchase another drive.
I hit this with X3:Reunion some while back - thankfully once the game had aged a bit the developers released a no-CD patch that removed the disk (and therefore Starfarce) requirement.

I have spent about 10 hours to try to run this game on my PC and it still doesn't start... oh Jesus!!!
I still meet all the requirements:
Processor : Intel® Core2 Duo CPU T6600 @ 2.20GhzOS: Window7 64 BitRAM: 4GDirectX: 11ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570
Tryed everything like disable firewalls, antivirus, spybot, driver updates etc etc. All I can say is that when I try manually to update my directx (11) with the ones in the game directory of the DVD (DXSetup) i get an error like this:
"A file CAB necessary to the installation results not attendible. Check if the cryptography services are enabled and the relative certificate is valid".
Then the directx update fails.
Does exist a way to contact the Bioware and have some help!?

It sounds stupid, but this worked for me to fix that problem:Ninjino wrote...
I got this message after "Release Control Check" and "Play Game" button click:
"We are sorry an error has occured. There is a problem with your games setup. Please reinstall the game".
1. Uninstall the game.
2. Go to the Users control panel and create a brand new account with Administrator permissions.
3. Log into that account, install the game, run it, and go through the verification process. It should make it through this time. (Although I had to enter my code yet again.)
4. You should now be able to log back into your regular account and play from there without hassles. (You can delete the other account now too.)

Hey Kunkryst - In case it's a wider-spread problem, what was the make and model of that drive?
Thanks!

I'll get about 10% of the way through and then the installation will fail or it won't start at all and I'll get a message saying the setup is missing critical files and that I should return to the original setup. whatever that it.
System info:
-processor; intel core 2 duo T8100 @ 2.1GHz
-ram: 4 GB
sys type: 64 bit vista
and I'm running the north american setup (in english)

I tried 3 times last night before emailing EA support, who, despite saying they have a 24 hour response window, have not gotten back to me. I'm at work during their tech support hours, and I think it's pretty unfair to ask me to take time away from my day job to get support on a product that doesn't work out of the box.
My machine exceeds all of the minimum requirements, and my DVD drive is literally 3 weeks old. I used it to install all of my system software and other games without a problem, it's just the DA2 disc that is giving me trouble. Really frustrating start to my weekend, so if anyone knows of a solution or workaround, I would greatly appreciate it.

Make and Model of your DVD/CD drive might help.

I had the exact same problem here (Also Win7-64), and running the DirectX installer did the trick. Once it had updated DirectX properly, the game started up without a hitch. No reinstall necessary.
I'm very glad to have found your tip!

It just fails and doesn't give an error message beyond "installation failed"
It seems to get hung up at 7.3% of the artfp.erf file and then gives up after a while.
Runing w7/64
I have a backup of the drive with the prior installation on it. Can I just copy that over and then run a repair install somehow to get the registry setup right?

Same problem, also with w7/64.
I'm able to PLAY the game just fine by copying the installation i did on my xp machine before the upgrade onto the w7 machine, however this isn't really a final solution because trying to run upgrades, like the high res texture pack, doesn't work b/c it doesn't realize DA2 is installed.

This is my exact problem.
Installation Failed: installation of Dragon Age II has failed.
Just before the install screen closes it says
"Extracting Core_data.rar 7.3%
packages\\core\\data\\artfp.erf"
Windows 7 Home
Intel Core i3 CPU
4GB ram
64bit
DVD/CD ATAPI iHOS104 ATA Device
I have tried to tranfer disk to HD and it fails at the same place core_data type RAR file 1.11GB. Same place consistantly. This is the reason I dislike buying early. DA:O I bought in Jan 10 all the problems were fixed and I just down load and play. As everyone before me has said this is incredibly frustrating. I have been loading and failing 3-5x a day since Tues. Thats hours upon hours I could have been enjoying the game, instead I am not.
Please give me a solution.
