As an important addition to what's been written (and if this is repeat news, I apologize; I haven't read this thread as extensively as another "Install Issues" thread that had been posted before), I just want to offer what may be an extremely simple remedy. I, too, was having the problem of my disc-copy of the Signature Edition just crashing halfway through with the generic, unspecified error message of "Installation has failed." I called Tech Support today, and they told me that my registration key works on the EA downloader. Just type it in and the game will start downloading all on its own; the physical disc is totally unnecessary, it seems.
My download progress of the game is well beyond where it would normally crash, let's hope that everything works out well, God willing. So, give that a try- just type in your CD Key in the EA Downloader and give it a shot!

Wait, I take it back. Question: where do you get the direct download without having to buy it again? And will it be a signature edition like I pre-ordered/paid 70 dollars for?

my system is:
Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 2.4 Ghz
RAM - 3.07 gb (.07???)
OS: Vista home edition
Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 2600 xt
Hard drive 360gb (about 100 gb free space left)
and i dunno what other statistics you need
it gets up to the point which the game installation is about to ask me for mymy CD key, registration code thing (sorry, im not certain what the correct name for that is)
then it says "installation failed" and crashes

Thanks a lot, Lacan82! This did indeed solve my problem and allowed me to install the game without crash/reboot.
I still don't know what was causing the problem in the first place... though it might be that the installer is incompatible with my AV. I think I can rule out a virus - I scanned my entire PC with 2 different AV tools and an anti-malware tool, and it came up clean.

This is how I resolved it for me.
Download an optical media emulation program (I used Deamon Tools Lite.) http://www.daemon-to...products/dtLite
Install Daemon Tools Lite.
Insert your DAII disc. Close the autorun splash screen if it comes up.
Open Daemon Tools Lite.
Create a disc image. Save it as an .ISO file. (For Daemon Tools Lite this is the icon that looks like a CD with a small blue floppy disc over it.) - This proccess may take some time.
After the file has finished writing mount the image. (For Daemon Tools Lite this is the green "play" icon.) This will bring up the DAII autorun splash screen.
Click install.
Follow the installation prompts as per usual.
Other possible factors include:
Firewall was off.
Windows UAC was off. (Set to lowest setting.)
Hopefully this fixes this issue for you to. It should work for most other extraction errors aswell.
Edit: Deleting the DAII installation error log in "My Documents" also helps.
Also delete the contents of your temporary folder (%temp&) or at the very least the DAII folder within.

I don't know why this particular version worked, as I had tried to use several other versions, but it did. I hope it works for everyone else out there with the same problem!

For those who get "install failed", you can use the online EA downloader to install the game. Works a treat.

The site to get the download manager: http://www.ea.com/1/download-manager
Just type in your existing dvd key and you will be able to download free of charge. Beats the $13 for a new DVD.

Just a note: The edition you download will be the same whether you have signature edition or not. The extra code you got in your case gives you all the signature edition's items regardless (assuming you have the signature edition).

That's if a manual install won't work. Probably the best option if you're tight on data

Getting totally frustrated here. I cannot get it to install from the default disk, nor can I access the EADM download it keeps telling me the code is used even though the farkin game has yet to install. The install keeps failing during the extraction. I even updated the ea download manager and uninstalled/installed one of my other games to make sure my dvd drive wasn't messed up.
What do I have to do, pay more money for another disk? This was a pre order purchase via amazon by the way

Reason I suggested this because I suspect your old profile has some corrupt registry entries. When you create a new profile windows rebuilds the registry from new.

Bioware should be ashamed of this release! Inability to even load up the game is just a no-brainer. Someone in the quality control department was obviously given the squeeze by bean counters to release this game before it was ready... I have tried to load and load and load, followed all instructions and to no evail. Disc came right out of the factory sealed box, be ashamed Bioware, be very ashamed!
There is no way for bioware to possible test all the possible component combination/driver etc out there.

The dvd I purchased still did not work properly, without the EADM I would have been frkd. EA tech support admitted the game had not been tested on a windows 7 ultimate 64 bit platform.
After I finally got it installed, the game is running fine. Looks like its the extraction process they need to nail down.

That is surely a cop-out. Are you aware of the Multitude of people having issues just loading the game? It should not be a requirement (AT ALL) than anyone have to do anything except put the CD into machine, auto boot (or even manual setup) and the thing should work from there. Individuals should not have to mess around so much with potential techno-babble to some to get this game to load.
You know it, I know it, countless people who have purchased this game know it .. the Quality control personnel screwed up .. BIG TIME.

What I know is that people configure their systems differently. What I know is some users don't know how to use their system and install a lot of crapware on it. What I know is some people probably have viruses and don't even know it. What I know is not everyone has the same components. So what does this all mean? it means they can't prepare for these issues. There over 300+ motherboards on the market with different Chipsets and hardware components attached to it. Different bios. Look at each component and tell me how many different brands/makes/models do you have a choice for? That isn't something that can be tested. Otherwise they'd pour too much money into a game for testing costing more than it would cost to produce and sell it. It wouldn't be viability option to even produce a game then.
If everyones systems were the same no one would have these issues.
Instead of taking the blame that there might be actually something wrong with your system. You blame them. When many people including me have not issues running the game at all.
However, there is a known issue with Win 7 ultimate.
