Release date check failed:

"An error occurred during the online release date check. Click RETRY to try again"

Stuck at 30%.

Exactly the same here - have been trying the various suggested fixes listed here (and elsewhere)  for the last couple of days, but still no joy.

As I solved my problem yesterday:
Problem was after hitting play getting stuck to an error of " game did not install correctly please reinstall"

Solution: DRM was to blame the installation failed because of DRM did not get installed successfully.

First Before install:
- Disable your firewall and antivirus software ( no need to uninstall those just disable them for the install )
- Make sure you are installing it as the admin , easiest way would be just to check all the exes from your dragon age install folder as following -> Right click .exe -> properties -> compatibility -> run this program as administrator
- Install the game
- Before playing make sure you have added exeptions for the DRM software and DA2 game in your firewall. Those in question are ->

Unified Registeration Code Installer Program and activation , from the DA2 folder / bin-ship / core
Dragonage2 , Launcher application , (Dragonage 2 PRC installer)

You can also just try launching it first time with firewall disabled to see if your install was successful , this might actually be more easy since then it will certainly pass the date check and DRM without blocking them by accident.

- Before hitting play though make sure you are running all your dragon age 2 .exes also in administrator mode as you did in install phase. These are the files you should find in your DA2 folder: DragonAge2 , DragonAge2Config , activation , EACoreServer , EAProxyInstaller , DragonAge2Launcher

- Now do your config and hit play with firewall exeptions added or with firewall disabled for first go.

Hope this helped.

Running Windows 7 Home, downloaded game using EADM, install game, try to log on with my accout, and I get an error that, "There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive \\Device\\harddisk3\\DR1" (through 6)

Why would it be looking for a disk from a digital download from EADM?

EV#53094 won't launch

after having tried every suggested solution without success, I found a fix.
In setup, try checking the "dedicated internet connection" found in the the dropdown menu. I don't have a dedicated connection, but it worked. Hope this will help some more of you.

don't appreciate having my posts constantly edited, however.

Best of luck with the fix.

ok, back after a long nights sleep with terrible nightmares of not being able to play :D

Anyone know if there's any upcoming hotfixes from Bioware / EA? :-)

Any update on a patch to fix these issues? or perhaps some word on compensation?

It seems to me the easiest and quickest way to make this right by your customers is to simply remove whatever DRM scheme you've got in the executable, as that is where all these issues are coming from.

Seems like Cytomander is right regarding the DRM problem. My blood is starting to boil in frustration because i see people on mod sites, already uploading screenshots of their adventures.

At any rate, i'll keep waiting for further info on the hotfix :)

@ Daleron, well actually almost every issue is fixed, atleast that's what rob is tellin. To bad that the issue I'm suffering under -.- is pretty resistant to any fix atempt -.-. EA wasn't very forthcoming, so no there are no news on that.
Well looks like EA did something "great", congratulations

@XxSint0rasxX though they have updated issues, but haven't really solved it yet.

EV#53094 – Some are failing silently after pressing Play.
User reports suggest that it might be tied to interference from AVG or other anti-virus software. Other reports suggest it might be related to graphics drivers. At this point it remains unclear.

Tried evertyhing regarding AVG, and nothing wrong with my graphic drivers. (just to take a look at my own problem) :D

Consider the game went 'gold' a month before it was released, I'm surprised these bugs and glitches made it through.

I have an instance of EV#53095 - "Dragon Age has encountered a problem
and needs to close". This happens right after clicking on "Play" button in the launcher (also when directly executing the game).

System information:
- Game on disk
- Win XP 32bit SP3
- Core 2 Duo P9500 @ 2.53GHz
- 3.0 GB RAM
- nVidia GT9600M GT (drivers 259.31)

I don't know if this will fix it but your drivers are out of date. You need the 267.24 BETA drivers. Report back and let us know if that fixed it.

Thanks!

It did not fix the problem.

Problem solved! (For those crashing at the Config tool.)

All credit goes to Count Smacula:

Count Smacula wrote...

I managed to find a way to bypass the Configuration Utility. There is a file in the dragon age iidata directory called DragonAge2Launcher.xml. It makes reference to a file that it looks for in the launcher for first run called SystemInformation.xml in the C:Users<user profile>My DocumentsBioWareDragon Age 2 directory. If that file does not exist, it forces you through the config utility. If you have another Bioware game (like Mass Effect 2 for example) you can grab the SystemInformation.xml file from its directory and copy it to the DA2 directory. I did this and when I clicked "Play" it skipped the stupid poorly architected Configuration Utility and the game started right up.

Unfortunately, this doesn't help you a lot if you don't have a pre-existing SystemInformation.xml file

@ Cytomander Exactly. The amazing thing is that pretty much everything that can go wrong in the start-up procedure has gone wrong, but my un-shakable faith in Bioware has begun to crumble..

"A hotfix, my kingdom for a hotfix" :D
