Same issue here.
After pressing "Play" at the screen a window pops up stating "Dragon Age 2 has stopped working"

Tried everything written down here and still it doesn't work.
Can someone tell me, why i should update to beta drivers? I mean BETA as in TESTING? Are you serious?

Way to go EA and Bioware... This is definitely good publicity -.-

I believe if you go to control panel Windows Update, it should prompt you somewhere to download it.

If that fails, you could head to Microsofts Download Center and download it from there.

Now i even tried the beta drivers. But wonder oh wonder no success (probably because there aren't any beta drivers for my graphics card...) Any other suggestions on how to fix the "Dragon Age 2 has stopped working" error?

[*]I had this same problem yesterday. Updated my graphics drivers it seemed that it fixed the problem and I was able to start playing.
[*]This morning when I tryed to start playing again I encountered the same problem. First I closed some unnecessary background jobsfrom the task manager and then I turned of all WIn 7 access messages (The ones you get when you launch a new program and windows asks that is it allowed). Again I was able to launch the game and play just fine.
[*]I am still not sure what of theings I did made the problem go away but if I can find the exact fix then I'll post it in here.
[*]After this inital problem I have had no other problems. Extra content works fine, saves work fine, sounds work fine.
[*](I have a WIn7 - 64bit Acer laptop with ATI HD560v (basically the same as HD 4650) I bought my version through steam.)

@Erah13 total computer n00b here, can you explain how i turn off the background jobs / turn off all the WIn 7 acces messages? Cuz' i haven't tried that yet, and if it works, then you might have olved the answer.

I did everything that's previously mentioned on this thread (updated drivers, checked that my user acc has admin rights etc), almost cried tears of blood since it still didn't launch. I had the issue EV#53094, and now I finally removed AVG COMPLETELY from my computer, reinstalled DA2 and the game works perfectly. So yeah, screw AVG, who needs it anyway.

I think i figured out the general problem.
The damn release date check should decrypt the files stored in the installation folder, am i correct?
But right after 100% it just closes, nothing happens and then "Dragon Age 2 has stopped working". Could it be, that all others with the stopped working problem still have decrypted files so that the game can't start?
Just a clue. Who invented this release date thing? >.<

i'm also having the same windows 7 64-bit problem, and then when i press play it loads and stops and i stare at it blankly like an idiot. what's the fix?

@ Daleron, I've visit the ea forums where they're discussing simular problems, looks like ps3 and xb360 aren't able to activate their games either, atleast some of them

hmm.. just watched a DA2 interview with Dan Lazin the Gameplay Producer, where he mentions that DA2 will get released march 11th in Europe.. maybe that's why we can't play it yet? it was release at 14:00 in America (or Asia can't remember) so maybe we should wait and see what happens? :-)

Finally got my AWC.dll launch failed error gone, all it took was updating windows a little, had to make sure I had .net 3.5 or higher (was still on 2.0 very old WinXP disk)
