"Dragon Age II has stopped working" This shows up within a second of clicking Play. Windows Vista 64 color, Nividia Geforce 8800GT. It says my driver's up to date. I tried a few of those beta versions of driver updates but they say theyre incompatable.

Is anyone working on this? The EA site is garbage, doesnt even list DA2. When I clicked the forum button at EA it sends you back here! If you're going to charge 60 bucks don't you think you should check this stuff out before release? Arrrr

Are you lunching the game under dx9 or dx11?

The silent, black screen bug after you click play: the thing that worked for me was disabling the firewall and uninstalling avg security.
hope that helps

Did that whole admin alteration thing suggested above for non-responsive clicking of launcher, now when I click to launch, there is a response: I get the bloody AWC.dll failing to launch rubbish.
The suggested remedy of ensuring .net framework 4.0 is installed? Works as good as throwing my machine against the wall, I already have it updated. Spawned any genius ideas bioware?

For crying out loud bioware, you make us EU people wait till the 11th, and now we can't even do jack. It's getting a little frustrating.

EV#53092 – Some are getting a black popup that disappears immediately.

shut down my anti-virus and firewall and the problem still persists.

You need to do this before lunching the game for the very first time... add the game folder and the users folder to the anti virus exception list and all the .exe files in the game folder to your firewall exception list, and then run the game for the first time.

If you already lunched the game, i think you will need to uninstall the game and reinstall it...

I installed it and launched it with both my anti virus and firewall turned off. It doesn't help at all.

me too... now I try uninstalling AVG... is it normal in order to play a game, to uninstall an antivirus?

Hi, I have the same problem...

I had this prob also, not sure if it's the same...but mine was getting to 30% then giving me that error. I used the following fix (some I see it does not work for, but some it has)...

EV#53093 – Some are gettting partway through the release check progress bar, then crashing.
User
reports suggest that this has to do with Administration privileges.
Under Windows 7, you will need to run an elevated command prompt
(basically run cmd.exe as
administrator). Then you have to enable
the hidden built-ina dministrator account for Windows 7 using the
following command prompt: "C:\\windows\\system32>net user administrator
active:yes"  ...Then log off of your account and log into the built-in
administrator account where Dragon Age II should now run successfully.
If you need more detailed instructions on the built in administrator go
here -

...Windows Vista is essentially the same process - see

I'm experiencing the "Dragon Age II has encountered a problem and needs
to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." error as well, so it's not completely a one-off.

The error first occurred during the online release date check, then shows up every time I attempt to launch.

I'm using DirectX 9 and have tried restarting and re-installing, updating graphics etc.

I'm having serious problems with the launcher. When I press 'play' or 'configure' I get the following message (translated): "Dragon Age II Configuration Utility has stopped working". This means I can't even play the game.

The demo had the same problem, but I could still play the game by launching the DAIIdemo.exe directly. When I try this with the steam version of the full game, it launches the frigging launcher (which is, as I described, a problem)!

I'm a desktop vista user btw and I have all my drivers updated (yes, even to the beta nvidia driver) and my system is way above the minimal requirement. I uninstalled AVG, removed my firewals, reinstalled/downloaded the game 3 times. The demo ran fine, the full game doesn't even run.

Win 7 64 bit. all genuin.
cpu Intel core i5 video GTX 275
My comp plays any other game on Ultra...
After i hit play it says you need to install 64 bit version of the game.
Then nothing happens at all.
I have AVG internet security.
The only way to turn it off is uninstall.
I uninstall AVG then install game again = nothing happens.
I think i go back to the shop and smash some heads there.

This solution actually works. BUT... AND I'M NOT JOKING HERE... NOW I have a different issue. The game got unlocked, I managed to download the extra content (add-ons) and NOW

NOW...

The games says I have to be connected to the Internet.

ARE THESE PEOPLE IMBECILS??????? :alien:

WHY DO YOU MOCK YOUR PAYING COSTUMERS? WHY????

Whoever came up with such freaking convoluted protections is a retarded individual.

They have spent, who knows, 50 million dollars? A hundred??? And they couldn't make a game that actually FREAKING STARTS.

I can confirm that this is NOT the case. I do not have AVG, and I have disabled AVAST, I have the latest BETA driver, and installing via full administrator rights. PLEASE, put up a fix for this, I want to play my game.

Hi everyone. Sorry for the long wait. We believe we may have a preliminary solution for the Admin error. To be specific, the issue where users are seeing this image when attempting to activate the game:

http://i352.photobuc.../shaoel/da2.jpg

We believe this to be a result of WMI misconfiguration in a user's system. You can see if this is the case if your Windows is unable to see your system's hardware components (ie. processor, RAM, etc). You can verify if you are in this situation by doing the following:

WinXP:
1) Right click on My Computer and click on Properties
2) Incorrect information will be displayed for your system's Processor and potentially other hardware components in the bottom right

Win7/Vista
1) Go to the Control Panel
2) Click on System.
3) You should see something similar to this: http://i.imgur.com/HN86i.jpg

If this is what you're seeing, your WMI configuration has been corrupted. As a result, Windows is unable to determine your Processor and other hardware components and therefore DA2 is unable to determine your hardware components during activation.

To fix this, you will need to rebuild your WMI repository. I want to stress that this fix is not for users who are not running as Administrators. You must be logged in as an Administrator. In addition, if you are at all uncomfortable with the process of touching your system's WMI files, please wait for a more official fix.

WinXP:
Download the WMI Diagnosis Utility from Microsoft's site and execute the VBS script within. http://www.microsoft...1E-4C64192AE97D

Win7/Vista:
1) Open a Command Prompt (Windows Key + R, then enter 'cmd')
2) Within the command prompt, execute the following command: ' net stop winmgmt ' without quotations.
3) Backup your Repository folder (%SystemRoot%\\System32\\WBEM\\Repository) just in case you wish to restore it
4) Within the command prompt, execute the following command: 'winmgmt /salvagerepository' without quotations.
5) The above command will rebuild the repository if it is corrupted and then restart the WMI service.

After your WMI repository has been rebuilt, please try and activate DA2.
