I just got my Dragon Age 2 to work, after having that annoying http://i352.photobuc.../shaoel/da2.jpg error. I was waiting for a fix here. And was looking into another problem I have been having with the Windows Experience Index. I run a Gigabyte p55-ud3 mother board whichs old bios doesn't like the WEI too much.

I updated my bios, and now I can run DA2 no problem.

I hope this will help someone who still has problems with this. If not I hope bioware will come up with a fix for you guys real soon.

I am still getting the "Dragon Age 2 has stopped working" error. I installed all the latest drivers, have it set to DX9 instead of DX11, low settings, running as adminstrator, NO anti-virus whatsoever that would be getting in the way, I HAVE DONE EVERYTHING. AND IT STILL DOESN'T WORK. I contacted EA about this via email, and none of their suggestions helped. I replied again with further details on my problem 2 days ago and they have not yet responded. This is seriously disappointing bull****.

ive got mine working, not had any problems so far but im keeping an eye out, all i did was uninstall my anti virus (crazy i know) disabled my fire wall, and opening the dragon age 2 activation exe in the appdata folder, it should be noted as well if your running on single core then your game is alot more likely to crash from what ive seen

Just a reminder for those people seeing the AWC.DLL "something went wrong, please reinstall" error: the fix that worked for me was to go to the Users control panel and create a brand new user with Administrator rights, then log into that and install and validate the game from there. After having done that, I could log back into my regular account and play the game.

Similar problem here. I hit "new game", and the loading screen comes up, starts to load, then freezes. It just stays like that for as long as I leave it. I'm on a PC with Windows 7 that exceeds all of the recommended system requirements, and is running DirectX 11.

Press play, dos window opens for 1/10th second then nothing. First time I ran game AVG resident shield detected 2 viruses, false positives Returned them to normal folders and asked AVG to ignore. Game wont work at all.

Uninstalled, now downloading. Not very hopeful it will work. Only got it coz my mates said too. Can I have a refund?

When i start the game it gives the message:

There is a problem with your games setup. Please reinstall your game.

I'm running Windows 7 64bit, full admin rights. Tried installing with firewall/virus disabled and my IP in the routers DMZ. There was nothing wrong with my WMI repository, tried as other user but nothing solved the issue. Basicly tried all solutions sugested here.

What i find strange that the first time I installed and ran the game it asked for my EA account details but with the reinstalls (about 6 now) it simply skipped that stage and tried to login directly and showing the error.

I hope there will be a fix soon for this DRM issue... i just want to play....

My system information on win 7 shows all of the information so this isn't the problem for me. I tried the fix however and still no luck.

One thing that may be related is that the system rating has never been able to run it to completion on my computer.

Admin Error: I can confirm that my WMI is not working properly. I knew this was a separate problem from being unable to use the configuration utility, but didn't realize it was connected to the privileges block. Tried the posted, got the reply "WMI repository is consistent," WMI still doesn't work. I've already tried the first three fixes posted here as well, with no luck: http://social.techne...3-088f31db85b0/

I do have a Gigabyte motherboard, and haven't updated the bios in a bit. I'll try that once I can figure out which model I have (somewhat tricky without access to system information, of course).

Hey guys, Windows Vista Ultimate 64 Bit here.... Up until today i had the Admin error!

EV#52959 Possible Fix...

The below didn't work.....but it's pointing in the right direction...i did have processor and memory missing in the system panel.

The following DID work...

Open up command prompt and run the following command:

c:\\>net localgroup administrators NetworkService /ADD

NOW both the processor and memory ratings show up....and...Suprise suprise..DRAGON AGE 2 WORKS!

Hope this works for the rest of those having the Administrator problem!

p.s.... This problem seems to fix the DA2, DA:O Configuration system tool crashing as well.......

Hi everyone. Sorry for the long wait. We believe we may have a preliminary solution for the Admin error. To be specific, the issue where users are seeing this image when attempting to activate the game:

http://i352.photobuc.../shaoel/da2.jpg

We believe this to be a result of WMI misconfiguration in a user's system. You can see if this is the case if your Windows is unable to see your system's hardware components (ie. processor, RAM, etc). You can verify if you are in this situation by doing the following:

WinXP:
1) Right click on My Computer and click on Properties
2) Incorrect information will be displayed for your system's Processor and potentially other hardware components in the bottom right

Win7/Vista
1) Go to the Control Panel
2) Click on System.
3) You should see something similar to this: http://i.imgur.com/HN86i.jpg

If this is what you're seeing, your WMI configuration has been corrupted. As a result, Windows is unable to determine your Processor and other hardware components and therefore DA2 is unable to determine your hardware components during activation.

To fix this, you will need to rebuild your WMI repository. I want to stress that this fix is not for users who are not running as Administrators. You must be logged in as an Administrator. In addition, if you are at all uncomfortable with the process of touching your system's WMI files, please wait for a more official fix.

WinXP:
Download the WMI Diagnosis Utility from Microsoft's site and execute the VBS script within. http://www.microsoft...1E-4C64192AE97D

Win7/Vista:
1) Open a Command Prompt (Windows Key + R, then enter 'cmd')
2) Within the command prompt, execute the following command: ' net stop winmgmt ' without quotations.
3) Backup your Repository folder (%SystemRoot%System32WBEMRepository) just in case you wish to restore it
4) Within the command prompt, execute the following command: 'winmgmt /salvagerepository' without quotations.
5) The above command will rebuild the repository if it is corrupted and then restart the WMI service.

After your WMI repository has been rebuilt, please try and activate DA2.

AVG seems to create an issue for me. I had two files sent to be considered. I sent them to the vault, then reinstated them, tried to reload DA2: no effect.

Uninstall time. DL again. About to reinstall
I dont think however this will have any impact. GFX driver up to date.

Running DX 9c
Will shut down AVG prior to first start next time.

Oh, and WinXP: SP whatever.

Well, holy crap.  Couldn't update my motherboard bios due to some incompatibility with 64-bit Vista, but I just tried this command, and... System Information works!  I don't have time right now to attempt another install, but the DA:O config doesn't immediately crash like it used to.  I feel like I vaguely remember running a fix like this a while ago for a similar problem, come to think of it.

Great tip, man.  So simple, it's almost anticlimactic.

I was getting the "Dragon Age 2 has stopped working error" and found a fix for myself which was pretty simple and stupid.

first i had to install using the old copy to desktop and trick the installer that the .rars are there and unpack them yourself method from DAO because i was getting install errors

i did this by copying the DA2 disc onto a portable HDD using the computers disc drive that was giving me install errors. i took the copy to my laptop and was able to unpack the .rars manually with a few crc errors (which i thought wouldnt hurt because of this post "Once its done, go to the copies of the .rar files and manually extract the files you deleted using 7zip (or any other program that will extract files from .rar even if it detects CRC errors) into your dragon age game folder" from wozearly who helped me install DAO) and this is what gave me the unable to launch error.

i ended up using my laptops disc drive to copy the DA2 disc onto the portable HDD and then from the portable to my desktop. this time i unpacked all the data with no crc errors, copied them into the DA2 folder and it worked like a charm.

not sure if this is a fix for anyone but myself but doesn't hurt to mention it.

im assuming my disc drive is going bad or i have faulty ram causing the corrupt files.

Please Rob. I want to know what is wrong with my computer. I want to know why I can play the demo just fine but not even be able to run the full game. I want to know why my computer has so much trouble to launch a simple PC game. I am losing faith. I waited so long for this game, and now I have been robbed of all my joy that was once beautiful and pure...

A BETA patch is available to non-Steam-users and should fix any issues specifically related to the Release Control DRM. Other issues remain, however, and I'm keeping to opening post of this thread up-to-date with the latest issues, fixes and workarounds. Hopefully we can have most of you up and running in time for the weekend.

Thanks!
