So I have finally gotten my game to work. It turned out that everything wasn't started properly, something which I fixed in the msconfig. :)

Hope you other guys can get your games working...

Well... would help lots of people if you actually told us what you did :/

We've lost him mate, he's probably on the way to Kirkwall as we speak

I still can`t play the game. And it`s not fun at all. I never had a problem with games from other great developers such Relic, Valve or Blizzard. Bioware, you are among them, one of the greatest. Things like that shouldn`t happend.

Sigh, I'm still not going to mess around with my WMI-stuff and bios updates. Demo ran beautifully, just this SecuROM is giving me hard time.

I just want to play the game

Hey, so I am past the DRM checker. But now I am only able to play the game online through my administrator account on my comp. Not my user account. For some reason the game doesn't connect to the internet when I run it through my user account. Please help? Any suggestions?

It seems like there have been very few updates about the "Dragon Age Has Stopped Working" error. Only more people saying they have the problem. :(

I'm simply at a loss of what to do with this. I've had the game since Tuesday morning, and still nothing.

Tried to play DA2 under a fresh Win 7 64bit installation. Still the same error with the account privilages. The above mentioned fix for this does not work.

It's kinda sad that my first post on this forum, after all these years, would end up being somthing like this... But this is the first time i havn't been able to solve my problems by just reading the posts Image IPB

I have the EV#53094 – Some are failing silently after pressing Play.

So Im running a 32 bit windows 7
Demo worked perfectly on my computer
It gets through the release date thingy just fine

I ve changed the configuration back and forth between directX 9&11
All my drivers are fully updated
Windows is fully updated
I re-installed 3 times - 1 normal, 1 one offline with all security and internet turned of and 1 where i uninstalled avast, then installed DA2, then installed avast again
On all 3 tries I've installed the patch with no difference what so everImage IPB

We should start a support group! I've been waiting ever since it got announced to play this game Image IPB

This is getting absurd. All other games, including the Demo run without a hitch. If this is truly due to protection malware, then the honest customers are the ones who get the punishment.

55 Euro is a lot of money, at least for me. I bought and paid for the game, and now I can't play it. The Pirates are chuckling and enjoying the new challenges, while the honest customer is crying in her/his beer.

Re: EV#52957 – Some are getting a “Dragon Age II has stopped working” error

Thanks for the advice!

After installing the latest driver for my GTX 260 video card, I no longer get this message and the game is able to load.

:) yeah, Gizbyt, that they do, and now I can't even afford to buy beer to cry into.

I just don't understand that the game "has encountered a problem, and has to close". The date-check seems to have gone without a hitch, but several documents state that I don't have the right administrator, or that it's missing something. I've posted the whole mess earlier (way earlier) and nothing is forthcoming, not even a "there, there" pat on the head.

I don't understand why it should only effect DA 2, and no other game. I also don't know how something can be missing, because I certainly have not removed anything. I simply lack the know-how to fiddle with files, heck, I've never even heard of those files before I ran the VMIDiag thingie. Another file (also listed in a prior post) in the temp directory states I'm missing admin rights. Since when? I don't get that at all.

I understand that the folk who take care of that are likely in overseas, and therefore 6 - 9 hours behind us, but come on, we're hurting here.

I doubt this will apply to many people, but when I was trying to get past the securom release date check, it never even started on the bar, just threw an error...

Then I noticed I had the date on my computer set wrong, and changing that fixed it instantly...

Installation Failed: installation of Dragon Age II has failed.

Just before the install screen closes it says
"Extracting Core_data.rar 7.3%

packages\\core\\data\\artfp.erf"

Windows 7 Home
Intel Core i3 CPU
4GB ram
64bit

1. I have updated my drivers and Windows
2. I have tried "EV#53093 – Some are getting partway through the release check progress bar, then crashing." And tried loading the game as the built-in admin
3. Turned off AVG and firewall.

I have no idea what to do next.

I am so very disappointed with Bioware.
After trying out the demo, and seeing that it seemed to run smoothly even on my laptop, I bought the game straight away. Today it arrived, and it was installed like 10 minutes after the Amazon package dropped in my mailbox.. And here you are, dear paying customer: "Dragon Age II has stopped working", BEX error etc etc..
I think I will fall back ot Magicka: it came out loaded with bugs, but at least it was rapidly patched and now it is a lot of fun =)

(I will not mention that Magicka is from an indie, while DA2 is from the best RPG developers on this planet, and that the former works while the later doesn't..)

I have installed and uninstalled the game three times. Each time I try to launch the thing, I get the same error saying that “There is an error in your setup. Please reinstall your game.” This is becoming enormously frustrating. I had no problems with dragon age I, nor with any other game I have bought recently. This online security software checking for “release date” is new to me and I have to say, I hate it.

And the fact that I just bought a brand new game and I can’t play it is SERIOUSLY pissing me off. Way to screw your customers over Bioware/EA. Not all of us are computer hackers and engineers. Some of us would like the software designers to make pain free products that work. It’s what we pay for.

I intend to pester EA’s tech support via phone on Monday. I’m kinda tired picking through forum threads looking to see if others have the same problem as I.

I take back much of what I said. Install the beta patch, set the program to run as an administrator using permissions and then manually register it online here. Fixed my issues.

EV#53094 – Some are failing silently after pressing Play.
User reports suggest this is resolved with the 1.01 BETA patch.

For Steam users unable to access the BETA patch, previous reports suggested that it might be tied to interference from AVG or other anti-virus software. Other reports suggest it might be related to graphics drivers.

After messing around for many hours trying to fix this and trying all the fixes here, i still cant get my game to work..
my winlog says the problem is with MSVCR80.dll, version: 8.0.50727.4940
i tried other versions of MSVCR80.dll without luck and other versions of Visual C++ and .NET framework
my DA2 is EADM version and i have lastest versions of directx
win 7 hp
geforce 9600M GT v.267.24
i hope you can use this info and find a fix soon, cuz im giving up now before i go mad
