Well, I finally made it (it seems)
Since I already was a god aka admin, I deinstalled the game, rebooted, turned of antivir/firewall - installed the game (again) - installed the latest videodriver - installed directx manually from the dvd - started the launcher - passed the holy drm check - got to the start screen - quit game - reenabled antivir/firewall - installed dlc - still able to start the game - lucky me so far.
which problem/error did you have?
I had the "we´re sorry: an error has occured. Please reinstall" error

We're sorry, an error has occured
There is a problem with your game's setup, please reinstall your game...
Reinstalled 2ce, tried with beta patch 1.01, dx 9, nothing working.
On a side note.... and yes, this is a rant.
I find it more than annoying to have wasted more than one hour of my time simply to make a game function as it should be right from the start. I don't buy games expecting having to manipulate, coerce, cajole or cuddle my computer to make them work for pete's sake!!!
I enjoy bioware's games, true enough, but the whole DRM thingie is getting more than annoying to tell the truth. I buy games because I want to support creators but the sheer frustration I am enjoying at the moment added to the wasted time make me think with nostalgia of the good old times without Internet, without patching, where the game designers were simply delivering prodcuts which were WORKING!
System is Windows 7, 64bit, with

OK guys, here again:
Regarding EV#52959 - the "guest account" trouble, the following solution worked for me (WinXP):
WMI - Misconfiguration repaired and re-registered:
1.) Press START - RUN, type CMD
2.) Within the Command Prompt type: net stop winmgmt
3.) Using Windows Explorer, navigate to: c:windowssystem32wbemrepository
4.) Delete everything that's IN the repository directory (= FS Directory and $Winmgmt.cfg)
5.) REBOOT your computer
6.) Press START - RUN, type CMD
7.) Within the Command Prompt type:
winmgmt /clearadap (Enter)
winmgmt /kill (Enter)
winmgmt /unregserver (Enter)
winmgmt /regserver (Enter)
winmgmt /resyncperf (Enter)
Exit
---------------------------
After that I could activate the game and start playing.
If this alone doesn't help:
If you have just done "my solution above" try this now:
START - RUN - type CMD
Within Prompt command type: net user administrator /active:yes
Then try to start the game.
If this doesn't work either, repeat 1.) - 7.) (after setting administrator active)
That finally did the trick for me. Thx 4 it!

Generally, well; this was my first time to pre-order a game and it would be the last. Seriously, I expected all sorts of bugs but not being unable to actually run the game. Well, let's just hope they'll fix it quickly enough.

Well, I just got my DA2 copy today and I seem to be having this administrator privileges problem (I use WinXP and this is a signature edition). I tried to run WMI diagnostics (though my computer seems to display hardware information correctly), but it returns errors every time. I wonder if this might have been caused by outdated BIOS? Any other solutions in this topic don't work either. I'll probably try updating BIOS tomorrow, though I'm afraid I'll mess it up (never done that before...).

''The Dragon Age II configuration utility has stopped working.''
Can't believe I've spend 50 euros to look at that message. Sorry bioware/ea, this is a serious let down and I'm a huge, huge fan of your work.

The first page of this thread has detailed explanations about how to fix that particular problem. Take a look, the fixes aren't very difficult to try out.

I'm sure Bioware are working on this behind the scenes, but the lack of updates from them in this forum is starting to get seriously frustrating.
At least Minecraft always works.

Wishing you luck!
Tried to do this but was unabe, but (un)luckily I noticed this when I was doing it: http://img703.images...02/errorwmi.jpg
Could this be what's causing my problem? <_<
Think so, yes. Have you just tried, what Rob Bartel from Bioware wrote about it , for Windows 7 ??
Take a look back - go to page 1.
And don't give up

The PC only 1.01 patch almost exclusively fixed the issues listed and nothing else. Our first patch (and the associated notes) will be very extensive...and no I cannot comment on it more than that.
So, what this means? Will be it this year??... As many others i am bugged with bloody BEX error... I tried all ways. Reinstall .NET, Visual C++ (2005, 2008 SP1, 2010 - for sure, I tried all of them gradually) , bios, drivers... Everything on PC works. WMI, Admin account, all is fine, this is bloody hard one. Nobody has beaten BEX error so far... I begin worship the spirit of the machine, maybe this one will help

I just want to add my voice here... I'm also getting the guest account error, even though I'm the admin user (Windows 7, 64 bit). I have tried the suggested fix on page 1, though nothing is wrong with my WMI configuration, and have also tried Myra's advice. None of it has worked. I really hope that this will be fixed soon; personally, I've lost a lot of respect for Bioware - I can't believe that this issue, which obviously affects a lot of people, was not caught in some sort of testing.
It seems rather that it has never undergone any testing.
DRM Software Company: We need a robust test for program that may not be exactly right and has poor functionality
EA / Bioware: Of course, put it here, We glue it somehow to our new game, somehow it turns out...

Of course, I can install and play many other games (including other EA and Bioware games) without a problem, despite the WMI issue. That makes me think the ultimate solution is going to be a game patch, not infinite reconfigurations of Windows.
