Does the 11.4 Beta (AMD) also work for me as a Win Vista 64-user? (Always a little bit suspicious when only another OS is mensioned.)
Thanx.

I spent hours & hours & hours downloading drivers, talking to cust serv, applying all sorts of fixes.... I fixed my DRM problem & I logged into the game no problems whatsoever.
Make sure your drivers are up to date sure, make sure your anti-virus isn't screwing you up, firewall exceptions are in place. But I'll bet you 10 Mabari Hounds it is a DRM issue for 75% of the players who are facing the same issue (Crashes before the game ever launches period).

I've currently got 167 games installed on my computer (love those steam sales) and this is the only one which doesn't run, at all.

Jesus Christ on a Pogo Stick. Perhaps there is still hope that when it will rot, fall off, and die when the game is officially released everywhere in 24 hours.

Yes it should, you just have to choose the vista 64-bit version
*UPDATE* For those having problem with the release date check, try adding the "activation" exe to your firewall exception list as well.
For me it was in C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Dragon Age 2\\bin_ship\\Core, so your Install directory\\bin_ship\\Core, it as a green icon that says EA, and its called "activation"
This should clear up the problem with activation, hopefully. Im still stuck trying to find out whats up with the release date check, trying to find some way to skip it...

I have tried:
-Reinstalling
-Changing compatibility
-Adding it to the firewall
-Restarting my PC
-Launching it in windowed mode
-Switching to DX9
None of those worked, Os is windows 7, and my graphics card is a 8600m Gt using the latest driver.

The game always crashes when i try to launch the exe or when launching using the launcher, and it just says "Dragon Age II has stopped working".

When using the laucher, does the splash screen show up, where you can click play and config, etc, or does the game crash before then?

I did install the demo last week and played it with no problems, I uninstalled the demo to see if it helps, it still crashes.
Edit: the first crash happened after it did the release date check.

Open your config tool and under "video" set the Direct X version to 9 (it defaults to 11). Save and then start the game. It worked for me instantly, and should work for you too.

I'm migrating from the Admin Issues thread, which they closed down and redirected us here.
Region: North America
OS: Windows Vista 32bit
All Recommended Requirements met
Edition: Signature Edition Retail Disc
I've tried everything, UAC on and Off, Run as Administrator on all the exe's on and off. Even tried a no-dvd crack, which did absolutely nothing for me though I've heard different for others. I hope Bioware comes out with a hotfix that allows me to bypass this nightmarish authentication program soon, this is driving me crazy and I'm getting the feeling that this weekend will be devoid any Dragon Age, which is what I was looking forward to most this whole week. Someone said it was like buying a $60 paperweight... that's pretty close right now, except the paperweight would have to be locked in a DRM safe that refuses to let you get to it, even though you preordered the key and picked it up on the paperweight's release day... oh and the paperweight's distributors told you that you need to turn off your UAC and Firewall it you want to unlock the safe... which was bull.

For those of us that Winodws 7 or Vista that might work but for XP users the defult is locked at DX9. Just a quick idea here is just those of us that got the signature edition that are having this problem?
