got a problem whi was often described... you install the game without any problems... launch it... get throught the release date check and then... baaam crash.... dragon age 2 stopped working.... great... i hop they will give out some working solutions soon..

cant be true that you buy a game and then have to wait a week before you can even STARt to play it

Erm... one more here. Successfully installed the game, release date check also passed ok (I think) and... nothing. I mean nothing at all, no errors, I push "play" and nothing happens, instead of "something awesome". Tried the beta-patch with no effect and it also can't be a DX11 issue as my Win XP allows only DX9. Could somebody help? Please ;(

Okay sad story,

"The dragon age II configuration utility has stopped working" can be resolved by a pirate crack. I don't know who said this to me, but I have SEEN it working (for retail and steam version). You'll feel like you've violated the game, but at least you can play it then.

Somehow now I'm now magically playing Dragon Age II *ahem*

I'm having an entirely different problem. =/ Going to try installing the patch and see what happens, but basically EA is telling me that my registration code does not exist and that despite registering the game to my account online, the account is not able to play the game. What is going on? D:

The patch did, in fact, fix it.  Hurrah!  Also Note To Self: Read patch notes, geeeeeeez. <_<

No updates in more than two days on this thread is very depressing. It is infuriating to know that other people have already played through the entire game, and did not even shell out the money to buy it. Gonna go drown my sorrows in something more entertaining and think about getting a refund.

Hi Everyone.  I'm having a launch problem.  I use windows 7.  When I launch the game it goes ok until I get to the main menu screen where it says I'm logged out even though I've checked the box that says to log in on auto.  I go to task manager once or twice then back to the game, put in my password and it works fine.  Also along this path I get a message box that pops up and says no disk in drive.  I hit contuine a couple of times and sooner or later I can play the game.  Once play starts everything runs great and to this point I've run into no problems. Any Ideas out there?  This launching thng is annoying.  Thanks

I'm seriously thinking about refund. It can't possibly be, that we still didn't get anything from Bioware to fix the game in a serious way.

3. Launcher reloads and no game starts

Hello there, my DA II doesn't start at all. I installed it, updated Nvidia drivers, I added the exception in AVG re-installed it twice, and still get the same message.

"Sorry there is an error with your games setup please re-install the game."

What I am doing wrong? Or what is wrong with the game?

System specs are
Intel Q6600
Nvidia GTX285
Windows Vista SP2 Ultimate x64
4GB RAM
Please help me

SOLUTION FOR THE CLICK PLAY AND NOTHING ISSUE
For those who lauch the game, click play and get no errors, the game just never continues with the lauch.

Do not update using the patch.
Find a crack for 1.00 (im not sure if there is one for the patch yet) and download it. (I have tested the one by Reloaded and can confirm that it will boot the game). Note that this is JUST AN EXE file, not the full pirated version of the game, it should take all of 2 minutes to download. (10 MB ish).

Go to your Dragon Age 2 directory:
C:\\ Program Files (x86)\\Dragon Age 2\\ bin_ship\\
Rename the existing DragonAge2.exe to something along the lines of "DragonAge2(origional).exe" or "DragonAge2(old).exe, or DragonAge(brokeninthebox).exe" Once Bioware has an offical fix for the game you will probably want to switch back over to this.

Put the crack in the bin_ship folder and Click this to play from now on.

I do not support piracy, but those guys just saved me alot of frustration.

Bioware: Please dont remove this, we are aware that you cannot support or condone this fix, but everyone that will read this has paid for the game allready, its a temporary solution until you can catch up.

Im in the same boat as you, EA Support has so far given me nothing useful and in the last message told me that my problem is so complex that they need more time to come up with a solution. aka find someone who knows more than the copy/paste commands support guys seem fond of.

I'm still having the EV#52959 when I try to launch the game. My Control Panel -> System screen displays the proper information and I even tried to rebuild the repository anyway, but no go.

To be honest, I'm rather upset that I spent so much money to not play a game while I could have pirated it it for free and not worried about this terrible DRM.

Every time when there is a cut-scene/cinematic cut-scene (more specifically: the introduction), the black screen of death occurred following with the shutdown message “Program No Longer Respond.” Force me to skip every single scene all the time.

Yeah crack works nicely. I posted in here saying so a few days back but a mod deleted it.

When you install the crack EXE. Your DLC that is registered to your game wont show in the game after you start.Come on fix this junk. EA -if i can fix this problem with one small file {about 12 mb.} you can ALSO DO THE SAME!!!

Had been stuck with the "guest account" error--up and running now following a bios update to F11 on my gigabyte board. Really was quite simple to do, just needed a thumb drive and maybe 2 minutes. Have heard it's similarly easy with asus boards. So, if you're stuck with that error on launch, and you haven't updated the bios recently (or ever), don't be scared to try that option
