But right now I'm severely questioning Bioware's ability to provide a satisfactory gaming experience in the future if they can't handle this problem.
If you think solving the problems of a single-player RPG is tough Bioware wait until Star Wars: The Old Republic comes out. You had better learn how to provide proper customer support or you're going to have dumped millions (And I do mean millions, MMO RPGs are incredibly expensive) of dollars down the drain.

I wouldn't go admitting to using a pirated version of the game on Bioware's official forum...
And I wouldn't allow thousands of customers to buy a bad product and then let them rot in a forum waiting for a single .exe file.

Note: The release date checker no longer even pops up when the game is freshly installed. By this i mean, after installing the game from the disk, the texture pack, then patch 1.01. Typically it would at least fill the bar to 100% and then the error message would appear, but now its straight to the error message.

Maybe in a few years, when you learn to program, comes after many unnecessary patch a new one, in version 8.92 and FINALY hundreds of people will be able to launch the game...
Please, if you are planning something similar in ME3, let me know. I would not be looking forward to the game for nothing.
best regards,
Very unhappy customer.

Everyone realizes this is a technical SELF help forum right? Bioware can't come in here & comment on all your problems.
I've been having the same problems with DRM as everyone & I'm ticked.
EA you violated a court order by packaging your DRM into DAII & then NOT informing us in the EULA/TOS. You do realize that don't you?
I've been a loyal Bioware customer since KOTOR & that may end because you put glorified malware & install it onto my computer.
I understand you want to cut piracy down, but what EA did here only increases & encourages piracy! There has to be a better way. One that actually SERVES your customer while protecting your intellectual property.
It's been over a week now & all EA keeps telling me is that "A fix is coming"... Did you guys even bother to do any QA testing on this before the game went gold?
Actually, yes, I can complain that they don't come here and comment on my problem. You know why? Here is the response from EA Tech support after exhausting their level 1 tech guys and waiting 3 days:

YES. THEY ARE REDIRECTING ME TO THE SELF-HELP FORUM. THE OFFICIAL EA TECH SUPPORT IS REFERRING ME TO THE USER SELF-HELP FORUM.
EA. TECHNICAL. SUPPORT. IS. TELLING. ME. TO. USE. THE. UNOFFICIAL. TECHNICAL. SELF. HELP. FORUM.
LET ME REPEAT THAT.
THE OFFICIALLY RECOGNIZED TECH SUPPORT OF A MAJOR INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION IS OFFICIALLY TELLING ME TO GO F*CK MYSELF. AND TO FIGURE OUT THEIR PROBLEMS ON MY OWN.
SHOULD WE START DESIGNING ME3 FOR YOU NEXT, EA? PRO BONO? AND THEN PAY YOU 60$ FOR THE PRIVILEGE OF ACQUIRING THE DVD? AND THEN FINDING OUT YOU ADDED MALWARE THAT MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO PLAY??
The prosecution rests its case.

I would like to point out, good sir, several points:
1. That is the unofficial Bioware self-help technical forum.
2. You are part of the official EA technical support.
3. You are telling me I'm on my own.
4. As part of this useless technical support question/thread, I pointed out 6 days ago (3/11) that I'd been using the bioware forums already and that it hadn't been of any use.
5. It took you, EA tech support, 72 hrs to tell me to visit a forum to look up answers on my own.
So, to directly respond to your update to my query, i have already been following that thread on the bioware forums. There have been no updates from Bioware since Saturday. It's now Thursday. I have, nevertheless, been keeping up with other users' suggestions for my particular issue, and none have been effective at all, though I suspect the less legal suggestions may work. I am hesitant to do so, understandably. I am not a criminal. I am a paying customer.
In conclusion, the only fix that that forum is suggesting that seems to have any level of efficacy is to use a cracked .exe file created by copyright-infringing pirates. Since you have requested I follow the steps listed in that forum, are you suggesting, as official representatives of Electronic Arts Incorporated, that I do so? If I don't hear back within 24-48 hrs, as this support site suggests is the time frame for a response, I will take your silence as implicit agreement. Otherwise, I eagerly await your next suggestion.
Thank you for your time, and your sympathy, dear fellow gamer.
Sincerely,
[b]Disappointed and Disillusioned (Paying) Customer/Gamer
Let's see what happens, shall we?<_<

I have yet to be pointed to these forums by EA tech support. I just tell them I know that their DRM is the issue, repeat/link the conversation # from my previous conversations (I also attach my DXdiag file cuz they always seem to ask for that so I shut them up when I link it to them & it comes back all good) & they tell me that it is going to take a few days.
Last Wednesday they moved my support request number from their "Tier 1" reps (basically the first guy you talk to) to their "Tier 2 reps" (their upper level tech support?) I haven't heard back from them since. I've contacted them 3x by live chat &.... nothing. No working solutions, patch 1.1 doesn't work (obviously if its not a problem with the DAII game files themselves but with the DRM then that means it's not Bioware/EA's software that is the problem it is Sony's stupid DRM SecuROM aka their Release Date Checker & associated software... so Bioware has to go to EA which has to work with Sony to figure out a fix brilliant plan that)
I've found alternative solutions that allow me to play the game I've rightfully paid for & waited patiently for. (By the way the game itself rates worse than DA:O in my mind in many many respects- Combat is better, I'm happy that hte main character is voiced, but the setting & story bloooow in comparison & a lot of the questing is lazy) ... I'm tired of hearing BS from EA but what can I do about it here? Answer is: Not much. The forums morphed into a giant QQ-fest & there isn't much we can do (Aside from breaking the Terms of Use & using a cracked.exe, returning the game & getting our money back, or waiting impatiently)
In short the situation sucks.
