Can anyone confirm whether or not the crack fixes the "has stopped working" error?  Its annoying that I paid good money for a graphics card with DX11 only to be forced to play in DX9 and lower visual settings.

Much like many others I'm experiencing the same issue: re: Administrator rights. (Even while logged into the administrator account.) However, when I went to control panel > System > everything showed up fine and didn't reflect the corrupted wmi configuration issue. EA folks have been ..fairly rude and snooty about it, insisting that I'm not running from an administrator profile and I'm a bit on my last legs as to what to do with regards to the situation. Help?

The tech support guy was pretty nice to me . . . but I haven't gotten a follow-up from a "tier 2" person (been five days, supposed to be two) and yeah . . . still rather bothered by all of this. I should have just gotten the ps3 version, except I played the PC version of Origins. Ah well. Guess I'll just keep checking back...

Being a born sucker, I broke down and got a steam verson of DA II in hopes of finding out if it fixes the admin problem.  Second problem arises: I have been having a problem with the configuration utility stopping working (seriously EA/Bioware, that's about the least useful error message ever) - it dies around filling the initial bar 1/4 when trying to figure out my system.  I had this problem before, both with my previous DAII and DA:O, but was bypassing it by going into the folder to binship/DAII.exe, but when I try this, steam routes me back to the launcher, which of course won't play without runnign the configuration utility.  Woot, 2 copies of the game that don't work, and since both are digital I don't even have a coaster!

Anyone looks at the security tab? on file properties? make sure that they have "full control" on everything for DA2?

Guess so, bunch of bull****. All I'm saying that the old Bioware wouldn't put us into this ****. Oh, finished my first playthrough just now. Wasn't too good.

Just checking in, and looking at No News once again. It's ironic to the extreme that the "unoffical" fix of a single file is a big relief for the game company. Hundreds of upset customers are kept quiet by it.
Fascinating.

I've been waiting 3 weeks for them. I think they don't exist.

Oh, I've gotten a few replies from EA tech support. They keep saying to do stuff in this thread, despite me telling them I already have.

Funniest bit was them saying the issue was fixed by the Beta patch. Evidently they didn't read the disclaimer that says the patch ISN'T fixed by the patch. ;)

Pondering getting my money back.

The most retarded thing about this is that nobody has even given us any status updates. We're paying customers with computers that meet the requirements, we deserve better.

hmm if EA is refering to this thread for your "self"help...i guess they also want you to crack the game...i mean if you got DRM issues...the easiest way to get rid of them is to DL a cracked dragonage2.exe...should be about 10 mb big...not even 5 mins of work...and just bypass the stupid blockade that prevents you from playing your game.
you can connect your game with your normal account...play your dlc (ok maybe you have to save your original DA2.exe data for installing such things as dlc´s and so on)...its not quite the elegant solution but hey who cares by now?!...you payed...you connected with your account...maybe you even payed for some dlc...so what is a single cracked data...its not like you downloaded the whole game illegal...or donated money or s.th. to the ppl who cracked it...
...like i said...not quite elegant...but by now it seems to be at least kinda legitimate :D

Neither the patch or the WMI fix worked for me. The configuration still gives me an appcrash the directly running the exe gives me the same message telling me to login using a user with more rights.

My WMI looked fine before, so I tried it anyway.

And you forgot to add the step of restarting the services before rebuilding it.

I got the game installed on my weak laptop. Copied the whole DA2 folder to my desktop that won't get past Admin rights error. I executed and got the awc.dll error. What crap! Get this fixed or I mail it back.

My issue is not listed in there, however I have a issue with getting into the game. When I first bought it I had no issues what so ever, I installed some mods from dragonagenexus.com and it worked fine. Next day I logged in and my anti-virus gave me a popup related to DragonAge2Launcher.exe trying to do a script hook or something like that which it gave a example of it also being used for programs to get access to my keyboard, etc. Which I assume is normal, however after trying to run the game I get past the intro but when it gets to the screen "Press any button to continue" It will not let get passed as if none of my keyboard buttons work with the game. I have to alt ctrl delete to get out. I thought it had to do with my anti-virus so I checked my logs, there was the program in the logs. I double checked to make sure it was added to exceptions, I did everything in regards to that. Even disabling my anti-virus and try running the game with no luck. So it's not my anti-virus and my keyboard works with other games so it's not a bad keyboard. Anybody know of anything I can do?

Oh and also I thought it had to do with the mods so I removed any trace of them, still doesn't work. I have no idea what to do.

I was having the problem a few days ago, and I know it's the game... I got an SSD drive, so I had to re-install Windows from scratch. Also installed DAII, figured it would probably work now. Nope... same exact problem, starts up but crashes in a minute or less.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Okay, that's an excited noise...
But! Fiddling about with a friend, I got it working finally!
I have no idea how legal this may be, please don't hate on me Bioware... I deleted my DragonAge2.exe in the bin_ship folder, and he sent me a copy of his... I then run the game through that, and tadah! It works!

I don't see how this could be illegal or not allowed, I bought this game fair and square.
What may not be allowed is my offer to then send this .exe. on to anybody else who is stuck in the same ****hole of getting the permissions error message. If I can offer that here though, I'll say to anybody to PM me and I will send it on!

Finally can play this game...

Are we talking about the standard dragonage2.exe or a modified one?

Why don't we just call it a properly working .exe that replaces the faulty original one, and let it be at that, shall we?

We're not talking about an illegally obtained game or illegally obtained content here, we're talking about playing the properly bought and paid for original game. I don't support piracy, I firmly believe in paying people for their product. I don't like it if someone steals from me, so in turn, I don't steal from anybody else as well.

Now I know the thing is out to ****** me off. It says I'm missing d3dcompiler_43.dll, so I root around in the game files and there it is, a file of that exact name, two versions of it in fact, sitting in the dragon age file.

I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing wrong. ME2 ran like a dream and I got that through steam too.

Hi is there any fix to the admin account issue I have tried every fix I could find on various forums. I'd really love to play this game.
