Yes, not playable.
I still get this message in the game's activation process; when it ask me to Log-in:

"Check your Internet connection. If the problem persists, the server might be temporarily unavailable".

I'm sure that the e-mail and password are correct, otherwise i couldn't Log-in her

1.02 doesn't fix the guest account error or the configuration scan error.  My WMI was rebuilt, and I went rhrough all other steps like logging in as the administrator.

Considering issue EV#53095
I am merely reposting what i said in the respective thread of people with the same issue.

After talking to EA Customer Support and forcing them with my persistence to escalate the problem, I have finally managed to play Dragon Age II following the solution i provide below. I haven't close the ticket yet because it opens a potential security threat (even though one can take some security measures).

1. Right-click on the "Command Prompt" under Start > All Programs > Accessories
2. Select "Run as Administrator:
3. A black box should appear. Type in "net user administrator /active:yes" (minus the quotes)
4. Press the enter key. It then should say "The command completed successfully"
5. Close out of the command prompt and log out of the current user account
6. There should now be a new user named "Administrator"; click on it to log in.
7. Try installing the game
8. If it didn't work, you can disable the account by doing steps 1-4, but for step 3, type in "net user administrator /active:no" (minus the quotes)

Notice that this is not a common account with administrative rights but most likely a .NET administrative account.
I did that and worked. Hopefully it will do the same for you. I haven't deactivated the account so far (although i did enabled a password), but I am waiting for their final answer if the deactivation of the account will affect my ability to play.

So, I'm getting the guest account error message. I've tried everything suggested short of reinstalling windows. Are we ever going to get any kind of word on when this will be fixed? I'd like to actually play the game I paid $60 for at some point in the future..... Anyone know a work around?

I have tried all of the suggested solutions, including turning on the local Administrator account in Win 7 and installing the game anew with the same results. The only reason I have been able to play since I received the game was using an unofficial fix, like several of you.

BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEX error, still no fix? Do we really need still use a crack? HUZZAH....

I start to understand why legal customers become a pirates. Repair your DRM lazy kids, or remove it completely, because it is useless piece of junk. Every pirate can play your game, only legal customers cannot. FOR  MONTH.... and no solution is comming.....

GOOD WORK.

Proxy Error

The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request GET /eaaccess3.do.

Reason: Error reading from remote server,

Is there anyway on how to fix this, coz it won't allow me to activate?

Guys, if you still can't get DA2 working, I advise whining to EA Support about it.

I have the Windows account/admin error.

It took me a month of back and forth contact with EA, I but they finally gave me compensation for pre-ordering a game I can't legitimately play in the form of a code for the Ultimate Edition of Dragon Age: Origins (still deciding whether to register or gift, since it seems a waste to use it just for a few small DLCs...).

So contact them and complain your hearts out. If anything, they might get rid of crappy DRM on the next game...

Baaaah, It is not for me.... I bought already all the games from EA, so they cannot offer me any game i want. (those i wanted i bought, others i really dont want either for free) ONLY compensation will be access with cracked exe to my EA account for play my DLC... And this they really do not do. :crying:

Guess what? I just got the game to work. My old motherboard got busted and when I replaced it, surprise surprise, Dragon Age II started working. Christ.

Edit: This is the last game I will be buying from EA, goodbye.

A friend of mine was offered a gift voucher to use in the EA store. You could use something like that on a future game purchase if you buy that many. :)

Possible Fix for the administrator/guest account problem:

Through BIOS configuration menu, i loaded the optimized default settings, saved and done.
I ran the game as admin and after at least one month of waiting, i can successfully play the game again!!!
I don't know if this fix works for other people as well, but at least give it a try!!!

I did this because i was trying to update my BIOS version, after i saw that it is a possible fix for the admin/guest account error. The first step was to load the BIOS optimized default settings, but i didn't need to update my BIOS in the end. Again,i just loaded the optimized default settings through the BIOS configuration menu and nothing else. Save, restart the PC and run the game as admin (just to be sure).

Hope this helps!!!!:)

I too am getting the insufficient privileges error. Tech support is now trying to tell me that it's a problem with my computer and to contact the manufacturer. Problem is, I built it! I have all updated drivers, BIOS, etc. Recall the same exact problem happening with Dragon Age: Origins as well. Don't recall the fix unfortunately! If anyone has any other suggestions, they'd be appreciated!

Just one question left: how am I supposed to enjoy this game when I'm able to play it over a month after the release and over half a year after my preorder was made? I'm sure that nobody working with EA isn't too interested about this, but still.

The 1.02 fix has arrived for Steam users - and it did not do anything for the "pressing play and failing silently" error...
