Just got home from the store and finished installing DA2 and I'm met with this screen, as well. Quite anticlimactic.

I do get that all games these days are released prematurely, and when you're bying a game so soon after the release, you are essentially paying to become a beta tester, but this is the first time ever I've bought a game, isntalled it, and it doesn't even get off the ground.
Oh well, it's back to playing Mass Effect until there's a hot-fix for this. For the sake of Bioware's reputation, I hope that it comes very, very soon.

My problem is this:
I launch the game, press "Play" then it looks like it's loading
Then that "Date Chek" thingy pops up i let it load when it's done you think the game is about to launch. But instead of that nothing happends.
Then I try to launch it again, but then after pressing "Play" it loads for like 1-2sec and then it's gone again.
So im currently trying to solve this, just uninstalled it and installed some stuff from ATI.
back to installing the game with virus scan off *praying to let it work*.
And that's the best i can do now hopefully it works then i let u know if it does't I'm going to try some other stuff.
PS. let me know if u got a solution for this.
EDIT:
This did work thought in the setup part when done installing like Dragon Age: Origins (Awakening aswell) had, it didn't configure the settings by himself which it did in the last 2 Dragon Age games (atleast it did for me) so i needed so set those by myself (which no problem ofcourse). And now im off to play the game and screw some DARKSPAWN!!..
PS. will check this later again i might be able to help others.

I simply opened the process manager, and tried launching the game, in order to see what processes would pop up (and disappear), in the hopes of figuring out which process is the one that actually quits on me.
The first time I did this, I saw a process called secupacker_launcher.exe, the second time I tried lauch right after it had failed, I saw something else... so I ran it a third time and now I saw dragonage2_activation.exe in addition to the secupacker_launcher.exe, and my virus detection software popped up a warning - I told it to ignore it (and never warn about that program again), and NOW I got the release date check, and all the login/registration stuff.... and the game lauched.
So for anyone having the "silent death" launch problem, I would recommend launching it several times in succession. It might just start working for no apparent reason. Oh, and make sure that your virus software/firewall is NOT in Game mode when doing this, to ensure that if it is your virus software blocking something, you'll get the option to ignore the problem, rather than your virus software making the decision for you.

Sometimes, the Release-Date-Checker opens and closes silently at 100% (even if i start it from mtka_tmp folder)!
If I start that dragonage_longnumber.exe from the mtka_tmp - folder, i get the warning "awc.dll load failed"...

Yup same problem here. This is not a technical problem. They have all the technical know how a plenty. This is some DRM corporate political crap I know it. The dont want to release a fix that disables DRM which should be easy. Ahh what do I know right

Launched the game C:\\Program Files\\Dragon Age 2\\bin_ship\\dragon_age_2.exe
and it does nothing while the demo works.
I have a Pentium Dual-Core CPU E5200 @ 2.50GHz with a NVIDIA GeForce GT 120

P.S Windows XP 32bit DX9.
Will try once more and not install the high reso texture. But i doubt its that, seem to be that new launcher being an issue.

mein Englisch ist leider nicht so gut
Mein Problem:
Vielen Dank jetzt schon an alle<3

I'm from Hungary.
I have just got the DA Signature Edition (original hard copy, pre-ordered). I have installed and registered it and the game promotions as well but when I try to launch the game, the release date check says that the official release date of the game will be on 11. March 2011!!! What??? I don't understand why I need to wait until that date and why I could buy the game officially before that date if I cannot play until 11. March??? This negative discrimination is annoying!!!
