I get this message:

" An error occurred during the online release date check. Click RETRY to try again.

If the error persists, please click CANCEL to abort the process and find a solution at the support website: https://support.securom.com/ "

I've installed Dragon Age 2 before and played it, on the same computer. Now I just tried to reinstall it some time after my yearly format.

Securom is used by the digital download version. I have never had this issue with DAII but, i have with other EA (Origin) Titles. The cure:

1.Uninstall the game
2. run a registry cleaner such as Ccleaner or Eusings free registry cleaner (use search to find either).
3. Reboot computer
4. Start and, log in to Origin.
5. Download the game.
6. Install the game.

What version of DirectX are you using? With that GPU you cannot use DX11, you need DX9. See the Game FAQ page for all of the requirements.

Not sure if this is the right thread but my copy of DA2 will not validate. The validation screen just hangs forever. Anyone have a solution?

Same here, royally annoyed...it took me ages trawling through the forums to even get it to install and after hours trying to get this done, to now be presented with a game that won't validate is beyond annoying.

have an ea account for origins so used the same one, have tried activating the game through my online profile but it just says it can't sync right now...try later....and I have.

Stuck on validating. They wonder why piracy is an issue. I guess I'll go...

What is it you don't get? There is no one in here who has access to the new mistake code that Bioware or EA changed yesterday!  Bioware isn't in here. EA isn't in here.

To communicate our problem to others in case someone else find a answer? What does it matter to you if there isn't an actual employee here? If we weren't supposed to post here, they would moderate.

I tried to contact EA by email for submiting my problem with that game but cannot find a way to send them anything...got totally lost in their crappy web site. Now I have to come on a forum to read tons of posts for nothing. My damn problwem is that my game doesn't pass the validation step after the release date check...WTF????? I tried everything, ports mods, Direct X 9-11, my hardware config is meeting the recommended requirement, installed both DVD and online digital download, ran on admin mode, shut down my anti virus, etc...

What esle??

of course DAII isn't even on the list for securom.com and they didn't have any solutions that were applicable. I'll keep looking through the forums for an actual solution. There might even be a solution in this thread, but with 50 pages...

Maybe I'll just go to sleep.

EA is haphazard at best with regard to eMails for support. The Chatline is the best way to get them involved.

There is a FAQ on top of the EA Help page for DA2, to check. Did you read that?

Whenever I open the launcher for DA2 the "play" button is completely gray, and it won't even highlight when I mouse over it. I did however remove the DragonAge2.exe from my programs file to create a shortcut so I could enable the console commands. Would that have anything to do with it? (I have also tried putting it back into the Program files) Would I have to uninstall and reinstall?

Bought Dragon Age Ultimate edition on Steam. Win 7 64 bit. Game launches, I hit play, nothing happens and game crashes.

I have made sure my drivers are updated.

I went into the steam folder and ran the two executables.

I have admin privileges checked.

I went to this site and put in my game id and promo code and it accepted. Now here is a wierd thing, this game doesn't show up on Origin even after all that. Only ME3 and Alice. So I can't launch from Origin. I am going to try to choose directx 9 after this second install completes.

If this doesn't work, then I am pretty much done. Enjoy your profit. I had to jump through hoops playing ME3 but at least it worked- think I am going to stick to other game devs that strike a better balance between making it easy for the gamer who buys their product vs. lock it all down make it as difficult as possible in case of piraters.

If I buy your game it shouldnt be this hard Bioware. Something needs to give. And you need to work with Steam, these problems would be solved by now if you did in my humble opinion.

Who is it you think you are writing to? Read all of the forum descriptions here. This is for members to discuss things with members.  Bartel started this particular thread for his particular purposes, but he hasn't been involved with it for a year and a half now.  The tech discussions are self-help, gamer to gamer. Bioware isn't in here. EA Help is the official tech support, and the Chatline is the best access route.

You have no reason to feel huffy about anything.  Bioware people don't come in here; gamers do, although it is the off-season now, and DA2 was never very popular, so there were never large numbers of game players visiting these forums compared to DA:O's forums.  If there's anyone on hand and you want to talk about technical stuff related to this game, that's what the place is for.
