The only reason that I can think of now is as to why this is not working is because its not yet the 11th of march. (official release date of DA2 in europe). But why on earth do you sell it then on the 10th?!?!?!?!

The release date was the 8th in Canada and I can't play either. I get 100% in the release date check and then nothing happens. If I click play again nothing happens either. I had the processes open as I was doing this and it showed DragonAge2.exe pop up for a second every time and then disappear.

I have to say that this is SUCH BS, why in heavens name has EA released this game. I'm getting the error message after 30% release date check message as well. I'm soooo glad a pre-paid for this. EA needs to do something. Now.

So. I heard back from Securcom after two days of conversing and they basically told me to go talk to EA about it. They said it was a developer issue...

So EA?

I resolved the problem with the release date authenticator getting stuck at 30% and then giving you a random error.  It seems that for some reason or another, some kinda bug or permission problem in dragon age 2 was not letting dragon age 2 or the securom release date authenticator see the internet.  So the solution is, if you are running windows 7. (I'm not sure for other versions of windows if this will work.)  Run an elevated command prompt (basically run cmd.exe as administrator)  Then you have to enable the hidden built in Administrator account for windows 7.  In the command prompt you will type something like this

C:windowssystem32>net user administrator active:yes

the command prompt will tell you that the command was successfully executed.

Log off of your account and log in to the built in administrator account.

Run your Da2 again and it should get through the release control.

If you need more detailed instructions on the built in administrator go here.
http://www.sevenforu...le-disable.html

I'm still working on how to get it working with my normal account.

If I get:

System error 5 has occurred.
Access is denied.while running net user, what is the problem? I am getting this even as Administrator..

Hi guyz
The game has been released half an hour ago and it already gave me an heart attack!
Starting the game resulted in the classic "Program stopped working" message of Win7..
I've changed the video configuration for the game from "DirectX 11 (if available)" to "DirectX 9" in the game configuration tool and then it started just fine..

For those with the AWC.dll error:

Apparently this game needs a later version of .NET Framework.  If you go and do  a Windows Update, there should be an update to upgrade to .NET Framework 4.  I just did it and the AWC.dll error went away and am able to play.

Hope this helps some of you.

Wondering if people are needed to form a facebook group in order to make EA aware of this issue - and let the reporters around the globe know that this "perfect" game does not even run - I had some issues with the first game - found it insanely hard to update and it kept on deleting my DLC's everytime - after 2 chats with EA customer support I simply gave up and binned the ****er in my trash. Decided to try this out...even with the former game being so terrible and the first thing I get hit with is that the game cannot even start *LOL*

EA could learn a thing or 2000 from Blizzard Entertainment - and I write this knowing that some mod. will most likely be deleting it anyway...but frustration must come out.

EV#52959 –“The application will not run on a Windows guest account or an account with insufficient privileges” error, regardless of Admin status.

I'm getting the above message and am unable to run the game. Are there any fixes for this as I am out of ideas.

oh...and btw my problem is that the config util. stops working while collecting data - so I will never be able to play the game - not before EA and Bioware gets this sorted.

I got mine to work finally. I had the issue of when I would launch Dragon Age 2, it would immediately stop and say "Dragon Age 2 isn't working properly".

I went into my Program Files and into my Dragon Age 2 folder, clicked on the first folder (something bin - sorry not at home at the moment) and clicked on the Dragon Age 2 Configuration button.

Once that popped up, I went to the Video tab and changed DirectX11 to Direct 9.

That's it. Make sure you do not try and launch the game from the CD itself as, for some reason, it's buggy. I used the Dragon Age 2 . exe that was right next to the Configuration button and it worked.

Hope this helps some people.

Installed the game will not launch for me. The release date check gets to 100% then closes and nothing happens. I have tried to run the game with the beta drivers without the beta drivers, in Directx 9 and 11, with and without the high texture pack and all combinations of those things. My antivirus is Avast but I did try it with that off. Allways gives the same result

Windows 7 64 Bit
AMD x6 3.2
AVGA GTX 460 SE
4GB DDR3 Ram
Avast Anti Virus
Dragon Age 2 Retail Copy Physical Disk

[qoute]Whist Darkblade wrote...

Problem: Game installed fine. After clicking play on the Launch screen, the release check supposedly finished, the screen went black for about 3~4 seconds and returned to the desktop

****SOLUTION (Windows 7 and probably vista)*******
1.) BETA UPDATE!!!!!!!!!! Either ATI or Nvidia. I have ati so im not 100% sure about nvidia, but if you do not have BETA 11.4 DA2 will not work!!!!! When installing the CCC (catalyst control center, turn off any virus programs and run in admin just in case, really shouldnt be a big deal)

1b)Make sure you have either DX 9, 10, 11

2.)Install game with virus protection off, and with an account that HAS ADMINISTRATOR PRIVILEGES, "run as administrator" is not the same thing. Check if your account has the privileges. (Control PanelUser Accounts and Family SafetyUser Accounts, --> if your account doesnt say administrator under it, make an account that does, or do the following to enable defualt admin accoun (if your account is admin goto 3):
Right Click on "My Computer"
-->"manage"
When the computer management screen comes up  click on "Local Users and Groups" in the left tab pane.
Click on "Users"
Right Click on "Administator"
Un-check (if it is checked) "Account is disabled"
Create a password (i think the defualt password is "admin")
Re-start
Log on as adminstrator

3.)Install DA2 (make sure virus protection is off, preferably UAC as well (User Account Controls), but not as critcal as turning off virus protection)
4.) Manually Add firewall exception( Even though the installer will do it)

5.) Re-start

6.)Log back on as administrator

7.)Make sure you have an active internet connection. (Release date check for some reason check some server on the web, instead of checking your pc clock???)

8.)Run Launcher (Click on cd drive, desktop icon, etc....)

9.)click "play"

---At this point for those who had errors with starting the game(as in it would not start at all) after an possibly succsesfull release date check, should be ok and good to go. Just complete the EA activation and youre golden

*****NOTE****** I CANT STRESS HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO HAVE THE MOST RECENT VIDEO DRIVERS IS. It has gotten to the point where im almost sure that if you dont have the beta drivers (at least for ati) then DA2 will not launch no matter what DX version you have.[/quote]

I seem to have a less common problem (though it was quite common with the demo) in that when the game first runs the config utility crashes leaving me unable to launch. I've tried everything that's been mentioned here (and elsewhere) including running as administrator and the bin_ship workaround.

I created this thread as well but it got buried quickly:

http://social.biowar...31634/1#6440166

My system specs are within ^

*Edit* The crash error description is just "Dragon Age II Configuration Utility has Stopped Working."

I was getting the error message "Windows has stopped working" and was unable to play the game. The issue is now fixed.

Went into configure area on main menu.

Clicked on Video on side bar.

Changed Renderer to DX9.

Changed graphics detail to low.

Clicked on Dragon Age II in top toolbar and saved settings.

Game now plays.

Good luck to anyone else.

Is it difficult to return an EA game purchased through Digital Download?

As I posted earlier in this thread, I'm getting the following error regardless of how the game is installed (Admin account or not) or run (Admin account or not).

We're sorry, an error has occurred. This application is unable to run on guest accounts or Windows accounts without sufficient privileges. Please log in using another Windows account.

Appreciate the help.  Went through the fix, but it still won't play.  Beta video driver, updated DirectX11, installed as Administrator with the virus protection off.  Still having issue:
