2 rouge party build possible?

1. Hawke (two-hander melee)
2. Isabella (supplamental figher, good enough defense to survive?)
3. Varrius/Sebastion (archer/ranged specialist)
4. Anders/Elf mage (whichever I prefer)
I worry that I do not have enough "beef" on the front line. If I go this route I should pump up Isabella's DEX and CON. right? Would some strength help her damage output? I could forgo cunning and leave chest opening to the other rogue.
Just wnated to get the boards opinion on if this was possible or not.
Thanks.

As long as you have a tank and can keep him/her up you shouldn't have any problems. The mechanics lend themselves heavily to a tank and spank centric party compostiion.

SO forgetting cunning for Isabella is OK too right, since she won't be opening any chests.
And is strength good for her , or it is like DAO where DEX is the modifier for daggers?

Your 2H Hawke tank will work well. Take skills from the Defender tree and make sure that your mage buffs the grp.

My Hawke is a dual rogue, and my Isabella is also. I spec'd her to do almost exactly what Hawke does: drop aggro and backstab the hell out of things, then backstab some more.
The DPS for both is really amazing, and there are a lot of talents that make crit hits almost ordinary.
The kicker is Varric's explosive bolts have an upgrade that grants CONCEAL to the party. Fire that off immediately, and let the Rogues go to town. All three also have Disorient potions, and ways to jump out of trouble ... but they kill things so fast that it's rare that I need it.
The 4th member can be Anders, or a controller-type mage (Merrill?). You don't need a massive AOE mage, as the Rogues do enough damage and without a tank to suck up the aggro, the mage should be more of a support role.

What about a 4 rogue party? If you have the DLC it is possible to have 2 archer rogues and t dual rogues if you made hawk one.

As long as you invest a couple of skills in CC you should be fine even with a full rogue party. I have yet to find the actual need for a tank.

This should be possible, just replace Merill with Sebastian - it may actuyally work even better

Hawke = DW rogue
Isabella = DW rogue
Anders = Damage Mage
Aveline = Tank
Lucien = Vicious Warbeast (also, he distracted enemies, so me and Isabella could flank them easier)
I used lots of flasks (fatiguing fog was my favourite), for the rogues and area effects were left to Anders.

1. tank
2. healer
3. rogue (for lockpicks) damage dealer
4. damage dealer (can be 2H warrior, Rogue, or mage)
I like Isabella or a warrior as a damage dealer because they can off tank and pull mobs off a mage if the tank can't close or does not have taunt ready. A mage might get you get more DPS and better AOE but you are in bad shape if the mage draws aggro, your tank is on cool down for taunt and shield bash, and you have no off tank.

His Mabari, I actually thought you could control the Mabari, but you can't!
Yeah, this sucks. But then, there will surely be some mod that allows you to comand your doggy, in the near future.

I took Merril with me everywhere, Mind Blast with upgrades is pretty awesome and on a short 10 second cooldown and is pretty much all she needs aside from Rock Armor. I never made her a blood mage, only a handful of fights even dented her mana bar that badly. Not taking a 'healer' in the party really changed things for the better really. I believe Biowares message (40 second cooldowns on heal) is an important one, in that you don't need them to be able to win. I bet they probably even considered removing them entirely from the game but caved.
I played through on Hard btw...

Should I change my Hawke from a two-hander (which I love BTW, awesome fighting moves) to a sword and shiled guy to help sustain more damage? (I got the black market guy DLC and love the potion that lets you change everyhting around...brilliant!)

Unlike DA:O, almost all the skills in 2Hand warrior has friendly fire (nightmare mode). I nearly upgraded all the abiliy in 2H. "Cleave" is a must. This warrior would plow through enemies like nothing, and when he Staggers enemy, finish the combo with rogues and mages for insane damage. Even your healer you put 3 points in Primal Tree for an upgraded Chain Lightning. Either manually fire or set Tactics to use when target condition is "Staggered". Can do 1500+ damage in that combo to a Lieutenant rank mob. Regarding Friendly Fire for warrior. It is ugly. I had to remove all attacking ability off tactics. Far too often my warrior would 1 shot other allies with Whirlwind, Mighty Blow. Sycthe was even more ridiculous. Fenris charged into a group of mob while my healer is half way (not even near the group) and she got killed instantly with 225 HP.
Combo guide:

So if you intend to play on Nightmare, don't use 2H warrior to tank, or be prepared to micro manage a lot.

It'll work on anything other than Nightmare. On that, the AoE from your 2HW will murder Isabela constantly unless you micromanage her in every encounter.
It's not easy to micromanage. You don't get to see the distance/range like when you try to cast in area spell or use some area ability. One time I saw a good opportunity to use Mighty Blow when a Hex just comes in, I moved Isabella far back out. Hit Mighty Blow ..... Isabella still got hit and turned into pieces. My healer stood far enough from behind (or so I thought) also died. Nightmare battle isn't a walk in the park. Sometimes an opportunity comes up and we must take it .... and the risks/consequences is deadly.
Now, if you use Aveline to tank, such friendly fire mishap is minimal.
