Maybe I really suck at rpgs, but I feel DA2 is a little too challenging on normal. I narrowed it down to the fact that each battle seqence come in waves. Like say I'm fighting a group of five bandits, after killing three of them five more suddenly appeared.
I enjoy the combat system, but the fact that my team keep dying on me to a point where I have to "kite" to win makes me feel embarrassed. If this keeps up I might have to change the difficulty of the game to easy, but I fear that I will have zero challenge if I do so. Also I was looking forward to playing the game on Hardcore/ Nightmare, but I'm frustrated enough on normal that I can forget anything above average.
I'm 12 hours in with a level 8 Rougue-Hawke and my go to team is Bethany, Aveline and Varric. Any tips to improve my gaming experience will be welcome.
Also no spoilers please.
DA2 is too hard on normal

It's not.
You have to use tactics to beat your opponents. Use your talents wisely and stock up on potions and stamina potions. And don't stick with Bethany, because she won't be available after act 1.
EDIT: Use Aveline as your tank (taunt really helps here) to take all the damage and have Hawke pick out opponents one by one using your rogue abilities.

Aveline is amazing, she should be holding aggro very easily with taunt, if she's not check her stamina, if low, drink, and taunt again. If you are dying as a rogue, try changing the heal tactic on your mage to heal you at 50% instead of default 25%. Also, try to use your evasive rogue skills when you get the enemy's attention. Don't forget to pause and use potions. Also, have your mage learn firestorm, fireball, and winter blast with the deep freeze talent..Bethany is really good at spamming without any intervention with tactics

Make sure you have their tactics set correctly, and you are micro managing their talents / potion use. Its much easier later in the game when you have Anders as your heal bot, if you have his tactics set correctly. The default settings just aren't good enough, you really got to get into the mechanics of how each class works.

Um...not saying the other people here are wrong, but I put no faith in Aveline's abilities as a tank. I play a rogue as well and I use Fenris, Varric and Anders for my party...no problems yet, I'm up to level 11 and believe me fights go a lot quicker.
Incase your wondering, this idea isn't really too...out there. It's called a no tank build. I thought that I was the only one using it, but after going through some of these posts apparently its not uncommon.
Side Note: Fenris is incredibly awesome. Even though he's got no shield so he's not a tank, I've seen him taking shots from like four guys at a time and not really care, just shrugs it off and cuts down another 3 guys in one strike...cause you know he's a 2h warrior.

I found Normal to be overall somewhat easy, but with a few specific encounters really hard. The only mob I could not kill on normal however is a particular dragon.. I do have to say I play a mage and I think mages are overpowered just like in Origins compared with other classes.
