To sweep Isabela off her feet (despite her apparent disinterest in such an outcome beyond a purely physical interpretation of the phrase), you must complete the following objectives.
1: You have to be on the friendship path to complete the romance with isabela, though this isn't necessary for the first steps. She will sleep with Hawke no matter the state of their relationship.
2: Flirt with the Rivaini during the Isabela's Ongoing Search companion quest, available from the start of Act 2. This will cause Isabela to make a random visit to Hawke Estate at night during the events of Act 2. Flirt again to sleep with her. In the following dialogue, you must ask why Isabela is hesitant to fall in love, then explore the all "investigate" options (as denoted by the ? icon).
{Eh if you are confused like I was Isabela IS the Rivaini. I'm sorry if I confused any one with my comment here early. At the time I didn't know she was a Rivaini. I really gotta stop making guesses and just play the game }
3: Ensure that Isabela returns after To Catch a Thief.
4: The final steps are to find and bestow both gifts, reach 100% friendship, then begin the Questioning Beliefs final-stage relationships conversation. When Isabela says the line that begins with "Now that I have my ship...", reply with "I'd like that". Last, but not least, converse with her in the Gallows Prison or Gallows Courtyard in The Last Straw to complete the romance.
So... how do you get her to stay after To Catch a Thief?

When talking to him afterwards, he said something along the lines of "Go and fine someone else who sympathises with demons"
I hope he hasn't dumped me or the potential-romance is over, because of one little mistake.
I think I also missed the "Investigate all options" during the first night with isabela, I also hope THAT hasnt mucked up either.

took some time digging through this thread and would just like to thank the op for posting this. finding romance info this early without the guide can certainly be difficult! but I do have some questions:
I initially started flirting with anders but started also getting cute with fenris and isabella. i've read that flirting with others isn't too bad but if you sleep with someone (isabella for example) does this hurt your chances with continuing a romance with others?
I'm also curious if your companions force you to choose at some point if you are stuck in a romance with another (like in mass effect, kotor, etc).

Sebastian will appear if you don't take him, as will Anders. Simply denying to bring them won't work.

This is untrue I foudn a way to romance Varric during Act 2, If you take him into the fade with you one of the demons turns him against you and you fight. Then after the quest is over visit Varric in the Hanged Man Tavern and speak with him he apologizes and you get 1 of 3 options (I was playing a female dunno if this works for male). 2 of the options involve Forgiving him and it's one of these two options which has the Heart icon that tells you it's a Flirt/Romance option! Also I should note that I ahd Friendship up to 100% on Varric by this time. So first actual dwarf in Dragon age you can romance it seems!
You can flirt with him, but just like Aveline, you can't initiate a romance.
You sure cause I would think that having that Heart icon there for a flirt opion would mean it opens up to Romance?
As far as we can tell, both Aveline and Varric treat you as family and not as a romance option. I've found the heart icon on Aveline myself; she took it as best friend would; the line I spook and her reply just sounded like sisters talking to one another. But I will make a note of this in the guide so that others will see it, if you can get the picture/vidoe of the scene I will add it as well.

The book doesn't say much more then don't refuse to do the quest in it comes up and choose to help her find the relic... Also if you agree to find the relic you get a freindship boost to Aveline, Varric and Marril if they are in party at the time... I haven't made this far just yet so I will update if you still need info once I've made it.

Isabela should be fine, but Anders maybe out of luck for.

Yeah I would have been in the some boat if I haven't had the guide so I thought it would be nice if I did make it. As far as I can tell you can romance them all but I assume at one point you will need to choose. I haven't seen this myself yet but it would make since.

Most others just need 100% anything, not specifically friendship. Unsure whether or not Isabela needs the friendship. I think it takes a lot from the Questioning Beliefs quest.

You don't need to give them the items to romance them. I completed the romance with Fenris without giving him anything and he didn't move in either. I had the rivalry romance. I even sided with the mages. If your friendship/rivalry is all the way up he'll still stay with you. He'll comment on it, too, but he won't leave you.
Really? Huh, well before I update the guide with this could I get someone else to test this out to see if it was a glitch? If someone else is to and they get the same result I will update.

That makes since; 100% anything on most should work... bah I really hate this guide's authour at the moment they don't explain everything in the book like they should have <_<

You can romance Anders as late as Act 3, my femHawke didn't flirt with him in Act 2 but I did right at the start of Act 3, when you have to talk to him in his Clinic (before the Justice quest), I got the night visit and he moved in.
Thank you I will update the guide for this.

FENRIS ROMANCE<3
To see a romance with Fenris through to its conclusion, you must satisfy the following requirements.
1: Reach 50% friendship or rivalry, then flirt with Fenris during the Questioning Beliefs mid-stage relationship conversation. If the friendship or rivalry level remains at least 50% Fenris will subsequently visit the Hawke Estate if you return at night. Flirt with him to trigger the romance. The next step is to ask him to move in.
2: Complete remaining companion quest and dialogues, give him both gifts, reach 100% friendship or rivalry, then complete the Questioning Beliefs final-stage relationship conversation before the start of The Last Straw.
3: If you are on the rivalry path, you must ally yourself with the templars. If you are on the friendship path, you can convince Fenris to stay if you choose to support the mages. Speak with him at the Gallows Prison or Gallows Courtyard in The Last Straw to complete the romance.
Are you sure about this with Fenris? Because I saw a series of YouTube videos of a Fenris rival romance that ended with Fenris helping you side with the mages (and all the other mushy goodness that occurs in that scene). I've also read in various places that a maxed rival Fenris will still fight with you against the templars at the end. Just want to check, since I tend to play mage, which obviously leads to Fenris not liking me as much.
Its from the book; if you can prove it wrong then please do because I'M having hard time getting him to be friends with me...
The guide book got it wrong. 100% Rivalry Fenris will side with Hawke in defending the mages. I tested it myself and recorded the footage (It's around 100 megs, so it can be a slow download).
Playing a Mage Hawke, I feel it's sweeter here than compared to siding with the Templars
I think so long as you have him 100% friendship he'll side with you no matter what you choose.
Thank you for testing this aimo_ahmed I have update the guide with this.

Oh, and I can safely confirm that at 100% friendship and romanced he will stay with Hawke if you side with the mages.
Aveline has more 'heart' dialogue in a quest later in the game (I'll find the name of it when I go home, but it's the one where she's attempting to win the heart of a fellow guardsman and FAILING HORRIBLY) which is freakin' hilarious IMO, but I'm not sure if those dialogue options are available if you haven't already flirted with her via the first
Great list! You might want to consider adding info on the catfights if rival love interests go at it with each other. I can confirm where Anders questions you about your relationship with Fenris if you wish.

Hmmm, odd the book does not say weather its day or night that you should look for it but seeing as you can only get into the passage at night. (as far as I know) Did you check the shop in there? It only says it in there not where exactly... And I can find a map of the area in the guide so I can't help you much more then that...
