I finshed this game in 10 hours, incomparable to my 40 hours in Origins. Well, I suppose they are doing a pretty good job of getting the CoD Audience: http://www.nowgamer....-dutys-audience
10 hours? I don't believe you... Took me 9 hours to finish the first act.
On a scale of 1 to 5, how do you rate DA2?

I dunno, i've been playing in the first act for 14 hours. There's a loooooot to do in the first act. Mind this is on hard, and i've had some tough encounters i've had to try a few times.
As for enjoyment level... oh, 4. I really like the characters and there's quite a lot of quests to do when you're thorough about exploration.

The few negatives I have are:
- The camera not zooming out farther
- Lacking a bit of depth in conversations
- Not being able to throw armor on my companions (even if it didn't change their look).
All in all, it's not a perfect game for me, but I still enjoy it a lot and thank Bioware for their work.

Normal is far to easy for me, so I can certainly see it being faster there. There's quite a bit of meat in the sidequests though. Lots of Templar vs Mages ethics, lots of Qunari culture and interaction. The just dont seem to end, sidequests lead to more sidequests.
There's a full spectrum of quality when it comes to them though, so far i've had one that reused an earlier map, and a few that were multipart and varied. Some were anticlimatic, some (especially the qunari ones) were very interesting and kinda epic.
4/5 so far.

Gameplay is certainly more fun. Only in the first Act right now but I don't really see the whole "less dialog then origins" complaint. Seems fine to me.
Not a five due to bringing in the ME squadmates non customizable armor. That feature really irked me.

It doesn't get a 5 because of the insane amount of map recycling. <_<

Only real complaint i have is i hate the new elf artistry. Merril and Fenris look fine, but everyone else looks so weird and too skinny. love their eyes though.
Also, as a mage i didnt replace my robes til Act 2. WTG drop rate

It's not bad game, but it's not what I had hoped.
I'll give it 3/5.

the good:
Improved gameplay and combat, with vastly improved abilities.
the bad:
Though characters are individually well voiced and written, and quests are individually well done, these things don't fit together at all. There's not enough central plot to connect all the quests. The game feels like a lot less than the sum of its parts.
One thing that bugs me: why does Hawke form a party and go on adventures? In origins, your motivation is pretty clear. In DA2, I really don't see why you're driven to be a hero. If you're just a refugee trying to make it, why go hunting dragons and trying to solve everyone's problems. To me, this is the biggest problem with the game. I shouldn't feel so directionless in an RPG.

"I loved Dragon Age: Origins. It had serious technical issues on the PS3 but I still completed it anyway because it was just that damn good.
Dragon Age II is an abortion. It is Dragon Age: Origins with gameplay by the mentally underage, scriptwriting and character interaction by the shut-in, level design by the lazy and graphics by the blind. There is not a single credible point I can use to recommend this game; it's an insipid, tasteless, boring and lazy effort, right from start to finish.
I've already returned my copy and will seriously reconsider preordering anything from BioWare ever again."
Edit: And before people dismiss this as your usual bashing of a sequel because it's not the same as the original, I'm just going to point out that I normally love sequels and approach them with an open mind. ME2 wasn't completely the same as ME but was a fantastic game in its own right, for example. I approached this one with the same open mind and feel like Bioware have taken a ****** all over it.

I don't know if Bioware is trying a "hub" concept with DA II from which several expansions/DLC will finish the story, but if they are there are far better ways to do it.
Fallout New Vegas has a satisfying ending but STILL has a number of DLC coming that will flesh out the story and change even more of the Fallout world. Do you NEED the DLC to complete the game and its story? No. DA II just feels incomplete, and not in the "middle sequel" way either.
