with updating the video and sound drivers try to update the netframework package on your machine.., currently it is at version 4...check what your operating system supports what and update to the highest netframework possible...
this may help, also try to update your microsoft visual C++ installs.
also look at maybe updating your microsoft direct x version.
both these contains software that are needed to use other softwares...this "may" resolve some problems since i have seen some people seem to be missing some dll's to play the game which may be the results of an older direct x version that does not have all dll's included or a corrupted direct x install.
Just make sure you create restore points before doing this in case something goes wrong ( usually it does not )
