I think all of us that have wasted our time should get back 75 bucks if they dont want the game anymore that should cover the game and the gas it cost me to go get the game. I will never buy a bioware game again. In fact the only reason I bought this game was becuase I downloaded it, played it, and decided this is awesome I should go buy it. then BAM someone released a game that does not work

In BioWares defense, the system requirements require a dual core processor (even though the initial systems specs included single core). So BioWare doesn't even NEED to patch this. They could just say forget you and do something else. Don't get me wrong most if not all BioWare games have bugs and are well known for them. I'm just glad that they are trying to fix this. It would be nice if they told us how far along they are or somthing.

Yes they do NEED to patch it.. it said multi-core or equivalent!  It didn't say multi-core only.

You people need to stop trying to play that card.

Well when they test games, they use high end multi core computers. Most people use mid range gaming PCs (including me). They should test out the game on minimum specs though.

Equivalent means for people running 2 single core processors. Doesnt matter how fast your single core is, it cant handle as many tasks.

How about an update? single core vs multi aside. I think for me at least the biggest thing now is just an update from TODAY ! Even if its shut up we're working on it! I don't think it's too much to ask for a daily update. We cannot finish work till we return to office on Monday. The debate on cores can go on forever. Everyone has a valid point on the core debate but what we need is just a quick note on their progress to cheer us up. I've been playing since Baldur's Gate and really love it But how about some love back. Image IPB

They do need to fix it. But it's probably time to take these post out of their own backyard and to a more public place. I can't get a refund and from that EA support post someone had earlier it doesn't look good. Let everyone know not to buy this game, or any future bioware games. I don't get home till 5, but when I do I know many places to get the message out, and i'm sure everyone else does to. No fix or workaround is one thing, no serious updates are another. They could hire a highscool student to pass us the info.

I work for a large uniform company and am in charge of the service department if I ignored customer complaints and problems and did not respond to my customers concerns i would be fired. I think any business should at least respond to customers in a timely manner. 4 days is not timely and is a disgrace.

Amen to that.

Also, about the argument of dual cores.  We can argue symantics all we want, but the down and dirty of it is that it was not stated that it REQUIRED dual cores.  It said equivilant.  Sorry to burst your bubble, and no offense to anyone in general, but as a whole, people can be pretty daft when it comes to reading fine print.  I'm a realtively smart person and when I read "equivilant" I though, "Oh!  My processor is that fast!  It'll work!"  not "Oh, crap, I can't get this game, I don't have dual cores."  I don't care if it's a matter of opinion or not, they are GOING to fix it.  It's not about whether it needs to be fixed or doesn't or what the bloody requirements said, it's about the fact that they have a TON of people who can't play the game they paid for, and they can lose out on a crapload of buisness if it's not fixed.

So, I agree with someone on here before, this is a forum to post about your technical problems and not a raeg forum.  Maybe we need to make a topic in one of the other forums to get out all our frustration and just let this be an update thread.  (Although I know I am just as guilty.  Being upset kinda does that.) [Edit: OMG, ignore this.  Like four people suggested this as I was typing my post.]

Thread here won't do any good. Complaints here insulate the company from bad PR in more public venues. Can't do anything on facebook, Twitter, or YouTube till after work unfortunately. Those might be a good start, then all the game stores and magazines, G4 would be good to.

Actually, we test from out MIN SPEC through to relatively recent... with the majority of our hardware being roughly the Reccommended.   My personal machine is a Core2 Duo @2.66ghz.  I have a single geforce 8800 GTS, one 24" monitor (which I got recently, when my old 17 broke), and 17" as my secondary screen.   There's a great misconception that we have stockpiles of the shiniest, newest, awesomest machines around.   We don't.   Machines cost money, and much like most users, we replace them when they become badly outdated, or they break.

And the Min Spec is a dual-core.   There is no equivalent single-core to a dual core.   They can have similar process speeds/memory/etc... but they never have multiple cores.   Most games these days will use multiple cores - any game that is launched on the consoles simultaneously/before the PC HAS to use multiple cores, or they wont function on the consoles - and most games these days are multi-platform.

Most users have multi-core machines, and are unaffected by this issue.

That said, we don't want people with single core machines to be unable to play the game except in ironman mode, so we're going to fix it.

We're working on it.  We know what the problem is, and we're fixing it.

Sending anything out to the public involves several steps which are out
of our control.  If  we say we will have a patch on Day X, kick it into
the pipe on schedule, and there's a problem downstream from us... we get
the flak for it.

You're never going to get any ETA out of us other than "we're working on it", because if it's off by even a little bit, everyone freaks out even more.   We've been through that dance in the past.  You are either angry because we're not telling you much... or you're really angry because "we lied about putting something out on X date".  We can't win.

Would you guys be happier if someone stopped into every thread every day saying "Still working on it"?  It doesn't really accomplish anything.

[edit] Disregard. People post faster then me.

Thanks for the response, Nate, and sorry for all the flac.  It's hard for us to really understand what it is like from your end, and we just want feedback, no matter how small.  As silly as it sounds, and even as unproductive as it may seem, having someone come in and tell us, "Guys, we are still working on it, don't worry. Please be patient." really helps alot.  It lets us know that you care and that we aren't being hung out to dry.

I guess this just comes from my own experiance in retail.  Even if a problem takes hours, or even days, we try to give the customer a call or just tell them, "Sorry for the wait, we will do what we can," just eases the anxity that all the frustration can cause.

Thanks also for clearing up the multi-core confusion.  Makes me feel like I've been an ass this whole time.

Nathan when Dragon Age Origins was out the min requirement was also to have a duo processor. I still have played it on a single core and been able to save. I also understand what you have stated in the above which is hence the quote. However, with the ecomony is for some it expensive for some to get duo core computer and for some it is not. Yes, I know there are places that sell them cheap and such I got mine for $457 for my single processor. With this said my point is that people are stil using single core. Whether they can't afford duo, or are unable to get duo for whatever the reason. I think you all at bioware should have tested it on a single core first to see if it would work before releasing it?

I understand as the minority being single core as to why you didn't test it. However, the smart thing would to have tested to aviod this all. I'm not much of a pc gamer since I've all ever played pc wise was the sims, Dragon Age origins and awakening and now Dragon age 2. Also Stars Knights of the Old Repbulic which I never got to finish on the pc cause the game would glitch up horribly and I couldn't finish the game past the undercity. I have always used single core. If anything this experience has taught me to make sure I have duo core instead of single core. Also, that developers need to think a little bit ahead of the game so that way they inculde everyone who buys their games and such.  Not just the multi core users.

That way everyone wins in my opinion. Thank you for the response very much. Also in this statement. I am NOT trying to telling you how to do your job. I am ONLY making a suggestment. However, even with this suggestment made I realize that by doing what I have suggested could cause money to fix before release date and such. Thank you for listening and thank you for making such a nice and wonderful game.

Editted: For some errors. Also, to add the last part.
