The patch is up and working for me (I am NOT a steam user. I don't know anything about steam really other than it being an online store. That stated - I don't see why the patch couldn't be used applied manually... Again, not a steam user personally.)

I guess this thread won't be as busy now. Just us Steam users to sulk and wait.
Anyone have any idea how long it'd take for the beta to come official? Are we talking hours or days?

I'm on Steam so cannot update yet but I'm curious ... are those of you with multicore processors able to save now without manually setting the Affinity? This would be good info for the Bioware team as to whether or not this patch also fixed the issue with multicore processors. Thanks!

Yes they do NEED to patch it.. it said multi-core or equivalent! It didn't say multi-core only.
You people need to stop trying to play that card.
It actually sickens me that people play that card. It's like I brought up in my first post and you brought up, that it said EQUIVALENT. Not "YOU MUST HAVE DUAL CORES" I think that the whole saving and playing on seperate cores was a baaad choice of programming. I do understand that it probably speeds up gameplay, but really, how many people actually have a dual core processor? Honestly, I just want us to be able to play our game without sitting on the fear that we will lose all our progress after a freak glitch, or without having to spend 150 bucks in upgrades.
I guess I'll just have to stick with the DarkSpore beta. -.-
(ug, edited for bad formatting.)
"Mutlicore or equivalent" isn't equivalent to single core. The equivalent part is more directed to users who have custom build their computers. Single core may have processing power equivalent to it, but in no way is it equivalent to certain functions that multiple cores are capable of.
Of course they don't have the same functions.. they are different things. But the item we're talking about here is the processor.. which until this very game.. has always meant speed. And I'll tell ya.. in terms of speed, single cores are MORE than able to be "equivalent".
As it's been stated a billion times already (not really but it feels like it).. if they require the multiple cores to FUNCTION.. then it should state that the game is not designed for single core. or that the game requires at least 2 cores to operate.. or some such.
it does not.. thus it is a bug.. thus i have nothing else to add.
.. oh actually
I finished playing Darksiders, and platinum trophy'ing it as well. And I have to say that for $14 bucks.. HOT DAMN that was a good game.
If you like hack 'n slash with a good mix of random weapons and puzzles with a flaming horse thrown in for good measure and Joe M.'s hella awesome art-style.. check this game out.
hey.. kept me busy while I'm waiting for a patch.

I have to say I'm actually quite impressed with Bioware's responsiveness on the issue.

Just wondering, how long before the patch is sent to Steam? hope not monday because i cant wait a few hours let alone the weekend.

Sorry - the patch will not be final and Steam-ready in time for the weekend. In the patch thread, however, there are some suggestions as to how your Steam entitlement also grants you access to the game via EADM. Sorry, I don't know the full details myself.
