Um yea you can return an open game as long as you have the receipt.. anywhere.. and yea everyone does assume things like this are going to happen since gaming started, all games launch with bugs and with game companies forcing developers to move faster it is common place now.

shiro just proved my point. everyone expects things like this to happen now. and sure they want repeat customers BUT THEY ALREADY HAVE YOUR MONEY! im glad they are working hard to fix this and other problems but does that make it ok? if they are going to take the full price for the game dont they have a responsibility to release a functional proudct? you wouldnt pay full price for a car that doesnt run. They know there is nothing we can do except wait for them to fix it cause once u open a game your screwed. if this was anything else but a video game i promise you just about every1 on this tread would be retuning this worthless paperweight

xyeeman, chill.  BioWare stated, quite clearly, that the requirements were a duo core machine.  Those of us with single cores kinda broke the rule (I'll admit, I hadn't realized I had a single core machine until just now), and they are working to fix that error. Trust me, BioWare has not forgotten where they started - in their basement!  They know that it's fans like us - consumers and return customers - that keep them being able to continue to create these fantastic games, and they will not let us down.  I'm having a hard time seeing this as a 'bug'.

Eva for those that preorder it sooner then other no it wasnt stated to be dual core at first it said single then about 4-6 months abck they said it has to be dual core.

Easy friend. The idea was, that it saves one one core, so u can play on on the other. They didnt think of singlecores. But they work on it. And Programmers are humans, things like this can happen.

I think the only way you could get it is if you didn't use the serial code lol

Best Buy will take back an opened game if you replace it with the same title. Not much use in this case, but very helpful when they gave me a PS3 version instead of the PC version preorder.

Also waiting for the patch....

4-6 months is a long time to not check on a product you are purchasing - you don't even pay for it until the day it is shipped.  And, BioWare put the info. right on the BSN site at least 3 months ago.  I guess it's the office manager/business manager in me, but, I always check on a product I'm purchasing (I may not always know what I'm looking at or what I have as, in this case, I thought for certain I had a duo core computer).  Research is always a good thing.

However, my main point is that BioWare wasn't hiding anything, and they are now working on a solution. Getting all upset and worked up over a game is rather, ah, immature at best.  I'm not happy about the situation, either, as I pre-ordered in January, and (im)patiently tracked the poor game from shipping to arrival, only to be greatly disappointed (with myself, mostly).  However, complaining and moaning, insinuating that BioWare did something underhanded is not going to motivate anyone to improve the situation any quicker.

I've just this minute printed out the Amazon return shipping  labels which they say are only good for 30 days ( I talked myself into covering that base just in case ) . I'll probably give them another few days to fix it before I pack the game up or until I lose the current game that I've been playing for over 24 hours now with no problems other than the save issue ( I'm afraid to try and save it again after dozens of failures ) . BTW Amazon will only accept returns for a refund ( no exchanges )  and they even pay the UPS return postage too . Since they would't accept exchanges I'll probably order the PS3 version instead of the PC one . Surely it works ok ? I guess I'd better check that out pretty soon just in case .

I think it was around a month or so.

I had forgotten I pre-ordered this game. I figured it would work with my setup as I had most of the recommended reqs, including a single-core processor(at the time of pre-order).

Thought they would have learned a lesson with ME2. I guess not. A lot of people, myself included, can't afford to upgrade their PCs every year with the newest and most expensive hardware.

I'm extremely dissapointed. Not just with this issue but the direction DA took. I really enjoyed ME2 and liked the changes made to that game from ME. This, not so much. They had a system that worked with DA:O.

I think this may be my first post, or close to my first, on this forum. Time to go back to the shadows of lurking.

Just so you all know. I'm all for forming an angry mob outside of Bioware. I'll bring the torches if someone bring the pitchforks.

This is TOTALLY not the most ridiculous thing I've ever read.

I think I have a little right to be upset if my game is not working.

Day 3, 25 more days left!

It's time to spill some Dalish blood on this problem. These darn knife-ears have had it way too good for way too long!
...uh...incidentally, how do I figure out how many cores I have?...the non-nerdy, non-numbery answer would be just tops. I have no bleeding idea what bios are.

Lol I'm pretty sure the most a average person's computer could have is like 4 so you don't have to worry about a nerdy answer :P For your cores, go to "Run" and type "Dxdiag" and just type out what it says on your processor. I dunno, that's how i figured it out.

While it is disappointing to not be able to play the game on the day of release, and it seems like BioWare should have been able to detect this during beta, screaming to the high heavens about being held hostage and the like is not a mature way to behave. Neither is treating the people who are trying to help you like crap.

I believe that BioWare is working on this issue and will attempt to get it resolved as soon as possible. I'll still get my $60 out of the game.

FWIW, I've been successfully able to get around the saving issue by manually setting processor affinity and all I did was patiently do some research and follow instructions.

If by "working on this issue" you mean "Swimming in the DA2 marketing fund", yes. They are HARD(ly) at work fixing our problems.

This problem went away when I ran it as Administrator and then turned off UAC. I was not able to fix it by allowing the process to run on all CPUs by manually setting the affinity.

Also of note: I am using Steam
