I purchased DA2 on March 9th, 2011. After installing the program and registering it with EA the SecuROM Release Date check is unable to complete at all, it just gives me the following error.

An error occurred during the online release date check. Click RETRY to try again.
 
If the error persists, please click CANCEL to abort the process and find a solution at the support website: https://support.securom.com/

The release date check program shows a loading bar and then immediately cuts to the error message. The retry button automatically leads to the same error.

I am running:

Windows XP Professional SP3
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
ASUS P5N-D SLI
Nvidia GTS 250
802.11n Wireless Connection with WPA encryption

-Disabling Anti-Virus and Spyware does nothing.
-Disabling Windows Firewall does nothing
-Reinstalling the game does nothing
-Disconnecting and reconnecting my internet connection does nothing.
-The SecuROM support page offers no assistance.
-The SecuROM Diagnostic Tool states that DA2 does not use SecuROM.
-Uninstalling SecuROM fails to solve the problem.

While I understand that piracy is detrimental to EA and Bioware I would like to have the ability to play the game that I legally purchased. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

We're working with our release control provider on these issues as we've definitely identified some legitimate cases where the game is not unlocking when and where it's supposed to (in theory, UK and Eastern Europe are the only major regions still waiting to unlock). One theory right now is that it might be tied to anti-virus software wrongfully quarantining game files on installation or launch.
