First 30 hours of playing and no problems.  Then it started randomly minimizing and bringing me to desktop.  It was annoying but aside from having to alt+tab back into the game, it was fine.  Now I'm about 47 hours of play time in and its started crashing to the desktop with a little message saying that "Dragon Age has had to shut down, sorry for the inconvenience"

Anything I can do?

Two GBs should be plenty.  What are the rest of the components in the problem systems?

Same problrm here. It has probably nothing to do with your computer because so many exprience that problem. I guess it' something wuith how the game use (or misuse?) computer resource, i.e. how the program code is written.

I have 4 GB and computer runs other resource hungry games good.

This game often forces both kernels of CPU up to 100% - during dialogs. Incredible!

if you minimize a lot... are you running AVG 9.0? AVG 9.0 has been proven to minimize the game just as though you were alt+tabbing

If you start back from the beginning does it stop crashing? And yeah 2GB should be plenty unless it gets more ram intensive later in the game, I have only 2gb in 7 and it works fine but am only about 20 hours in.

You need to re-install it. I had the same issues. Check save games and uncheck settings when you do. Then when you get it re-installed, disable your user profile options that upload screenshots etc. Download any DLC again and then load up a game.

I had to do this twice but this worked for me!

Thanks everyone. I'll give that a shot. And yes I am using AVG 9.0 so maybe that's part of the problem as well.

After about 15 play throughs I get a crash on almost every major battle. Reinstalled is not a problem, doing all the DLC is. My ISP is metered and it costs me .05/mb to download. Any ideas?

If it's not any specific point in the game, but every major battle, then IMHO it sounds like you might have some hardware showing signs of giving up during intensive periods of play.
Favourates are graphics card, ram or cpu.
Other than that, what has changed (game and pc) since you were able to play without crashing?

Rubbish. This game broke after BW stopped supporting it and shovelling out more DLC than patches. My computer runs way more intensive applications than Dragon Age, which is mediocre in the graphics department at best.

So did my pc, until eventually my gpu totally gave up the ghost.
In my case I had to run DAO in window mode to prevent crashing - it only used one of the gpu cores in window mode.
Originally probems only occured running DAO, but eventually it spread to all applications and I had to replace the card.
You are right that DAO is mediocre in graphics but it's a well known fact that the game is greedy and devours system resources whether needed or not.

Funny how the game broke after BW stopped supporting it and shovelling out more DLC than patches.
This infers that it ran perfectly before...

Best of luck in sourcing your problem.

I'm getting the same thing and I'm about sick of it... I paid money for DAO and Awakening as well as a few DLCs. Hey Bioware, fix it or send me my money back!

I am right there with all of you. I just paid for DAO Ultimate Edition and every major battle starting with the Sloth Demon has crashed. I was playing fine before that point. It is not a failing part on someone's computer. We are all crashing at the same point. I doubt everyone has a part failing at the same point in the game. Even though it probably won't do any good, but I plan on contacting the company and reporting them to the better business bureau. They are scamming people. We buy the game and we are unable to return for a refund since we opened it. I just want it fixed because I really like this game. It is worth the money if it works,

Btw....to get past the Sloth Demon, I reduced the amount of CPU cores being utilized in Task Manager to 3 (from 4) and i was able to complete that battle. Now I am fighting Ulred(or something like that) and it is crashing with the 3 cores now.
