I'm already in act two and I havent't seen any trace of her yet. Not inside the bar, not anywhere. Do you get her later on or have I already missed the opportunity?

I got her quest in the bar after getting everyone except Fenris (I got him next). I believe it was the 2nd time I entered the bar, and I hadn't entered the Deep Roads yet.

Well then, that's lame. There should be some indirect notification quest that let's you know she's there in the first act. Oh well..

You've missed her. She shows up at the Hanged Man bar after you to go to the Hanged Man to talk with Varric for the "Questions and Answers" Companion quest, after Anders' "Tranquility" Main Story quest. I suspect you didn't do the "Q+A" Companion quest. This must be done before you do the Deep Roads.

I cleared out everything in the entire first act, I'm a junkie for that kind of stuff. Doesn't surprise me though, bugs and glitches everywhere so far. Like having completed the Prince DLC and not getting a single achievement.

Xbox 360. I'm enjoying the game, don't get me wrong. It's just frustrating missing out on stuff because the game is giving me hell.

 Same. I did every single quest in Act 1 I could find, expecting to find Isabella eventually. Guess I forgot to go into the Hanged Man. 

Sure love it when they dont give any form of side quest to get a cool companion other than "well, I hope you go in there for no reason"

Yep, same here. I'm in act 2 and still no sign of Isabella eventhough i've been several times in the hanged man in act 1.
If this is a bug then it's cross platform though because i bought the game on steam.

im on act 2, i did everything in act one, including the Q and A quest, im really annoyed at this. first isabella seems to be an important companion and second, i had no intention on romancing her but that is some fine ass to have around, i really think they should make all companion encounters compulsory and leave it up to you to accept them or not. I'm playing on the ps3 and if this is a glitch it seems to be on all platforms. I think their might be a marker after the Q and A quest where if u pass it she won't appear anymore. I'll just keep on playing and hope she turns up. Also does anyone know how to start the romance with merril. I'm in act 2 but i've only had one chance to flirt with her, given her a few gifts but i haven't seen any signs of the romance starting

one last thing, this a huge guess, but i think if you recruit fenris first that might stop her appearing. i got him early and seeing the comments above seem to agree with the idea

Nope, i recruited fenris before getting anders in my rogue playthrough and still got isabella.

To recruit Isabela in Act 1 do the quest where you meet Anders, then do the First Sacrifice quest, then go to the Hanged Man, and from there you should be able to manage things.

Those in Act 2 already thanks for playing try again next play through sorry. She is one of the characters that is optional to recruit.

I had to start all over again!!!! cause I was not going to finish a dragon age game without this character, this thing of getting a character only at some point sucks!!!! thanks for the posts guys you really helped me out here

Lame...I didnt get her either and I made sure I went through all the available areas day and night before I went to the deep roads, I think it might be a fenris first glitch cause I got em after The Grey Warden

Looks like I've missed not one but two companions. Fenris and Isabella will both have to wait for my second run, I guess.

I lost out on Isabela because there was no reason to go inside the Hanged Man during Act 1 before the Deep Roads. I wish this game had quest markers for companion quests on the world map.

All that is required for Isabela is a visit to the hanged man after doing Tranquility and thus getting Anders in your party. Unless you waited to do that last? How could you not have visited the hang man before it.

It's strange that some folks actually miss her - I found her really early. I just went into the Hanged Man at night - didn't need a quest marker, was just wandering around
