They went haywire. It started at the beginning of Act 2 when her initial conversation in her house was marked as completed automatically. Now she's talking to me about how I helped her with a companion quest I never received.

This also happened to me, the quest "Mourning" automatically completed when Act 2 began.

It did for me as well but I kept on playing and everything else was fine. I was able to romance her with no problem as well.

I got this too. It told me to go talk to her at her house, which triggered Mourning. Immediately afterwards there was a conversation with Varric which I believe was the conversation I was supposed to have. She talks about needing to fix the mirror despite the mirror having disappeared after the previous glitch. I didn't think too much of it until Anders started calling her an abomination.

Happened to me as well. Eventually I could do the quest as normal but having Merrill crying like that freaked me out a bit....

Just started Act II and discovered the glitch. Had new quests for all other companions but "Mourning" was marked as complete. I had pushed her friendship pretty high during Act I and I'm wondering if that somehow caused the bug. Really hoping it doesn't cause problems with her romance track or her later companion missions.

I had some problems with Merrill too. At the beginning of the Act, directly after the debate in the square w/Orsino and Meredith, the companion checking-in quests appear. Merrill's quest was titled "A Talking To." When you go to Merrill's home, the cutscene for the quest "Mourning" begins immediately.

I had Merrill rivalry-locked at this point, so I got the rivalry-tinged "you were always right" discussion and she broke the mirror. Once that ended the cutscene for "A Talking To" with Varric began as soon as I clicked on Merrill again. The "Mourning" cutscene didn't make much sense until I played through her personal quest on Sundermount later, and I realized it was meant to play after the personal quest ended.

I had a very similar problem.

I can't get  A New Path to trigger. I did A Murder of Crows with her before I went to see her to get the quest and I got the cutscene after the quest when. Will everything still work right?

I had the Merrill:Friend or Foe conversation happen before I did her final companion quest.

I'm having the same problem. I played through the Deep Roads part again with other party members and decisions to see if it would help, but no.

Yep, having the auto-complete problem with Mourning also, most annoying.

The early cutscene happened for me also, but now at the end of Act 3, the Friend or Foe dialogue conversation has not happened and I've literally completed everything else but the main quest (which for some reason has disappeared from my journal, leaving my active quests in the journal absolutely empty). Has anyone else had either of these problems?

Does anyone know if there is a specific series of events for Mourning to appear completed at the start of Act 2?

Welp, mourning autocompleted for me too. I was kind of hoping to romance her. Is this going to foul everything up.

You don't have that conversation until during (in the middle of) the very final mission, no?

This has happened to me as well. Will this screw up romance options? I was hoping to engage in a romance with her?

Have you guys tried reverting to a previous save?
