I have a Win7 64Bit System and an Nvidia GTS 250. I extraced the installer with winrar, replaced the inf file with the one you posted above but the installer will complain about missing files. I already changed the line near the bottom to my model.
Could you please help me? :)

Don't change anything near the bottom. It makes the installer look for OTHER FILES, files it does not have. Just use the altered INF. The idea is to make it think it's installing drivers for the 560, but it fools the installer into thinking any 2XX card is a 560. When you change any other lines, it starts looking for 2XX specific drivers, and it only carries the 560's =)

You don't have to copy the specific entry for your card, blanket copy-pasting also works well since the installer will simply be comparing whether your card is on the list or not.

Just replaced the existing file with yours on my GTX 285 and it's asking for missing files. Any ideas?

The only sections I "replaced" in my nv_disp.inf...

[NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTx86.6.0]%NVIDIA_DEV.1200.01% = Section004, PCI\\VEN_10DE&DEV_1200                 %NVIDIA_DEV.0618.01% = Section013, PCI\\VEN_10DE&DEV_0618&SUBSYS_1A521043
[NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTx86.6.1]%NVIDIA_DEV.1200.01% = Section005, PCI\\VEN_10DE&DEV_1200                 %NVIDIA_DEV.0618.01% = Section014, PCI\\VEN_10DE&DEV_0618&SUBSYS_1A521043

[Strings]DiskID1 = "NVIDIA Windows Vista / Windows 7 (32 bit) Driver Library Installation Disk 1"NVIDIA = "NVIDIA"NVIDIA_A = "NVIDIA"NVIDIA_B = "NVIDIA "NVIDIA_DEV.1200.01 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti"NVIDIA_DEV.0618.01 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M"REG_BINARY = 0x00000001REG_DWORD = 0x00010001REG_EXPAND_SZ = 0x00020000REG_MULTI_SZ = 0x00010000REG_SZ = 0x00000000REG_SZ_APPEND = 0x00010008

Look for these sections in the 267.26 .inf, and replace. Alter for 64-bit as needed, and you may also have to change your SUBSYS based on your card's details in Device Manager.

EDIT: Hmmm, the sections that I pasted aren't keeping the formatting...

Yes, I think so. See if a section like that is in your current 64-bit 267.26 .inf.

thanks...i'm quite confused by all this, but your help is extremely appreciated and valuable...

in the 64-bit drivers the only sections which seem similar are

[NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTamd64.6.0]
%NVIDIA_DEV.1200.01% = Section004, PCI\\VEN_10DE&DEV_1200

[NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTamd64.6.1]
%NVIDIA_DEV.1200.01% = Section005, PCI\\VEN_10DE&DEV_1200

there is actually no

[NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTx86.6.0]

or

[NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTx86.6.1]

EDIT: will try to edit these ;)

I feel like I've missed a very important part of this potential fix. mainly:

What in the .inf do i need to change?

-and-

What do I need to change it to?

I'm using a GTX 470

Edit: A little poking around in the Ini file of the 267.24beta install files got the job done. Just find your card model in the bottom entry, then search for the corrisponding number, there should be 2 other entries under the headings:

[NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTx86.6.0]

and

[NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTx86.6.1]

just copy and paste the relevant information from one INf to the other. I got it to install, now fingers crossed it helps!

I copy/paste those entries to the the above described headings (taken from the 267.24beta to the 267.26beta), or to be precise my headings are somewhat different because I ve got windows 7 64t:[NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTamd64.6.0] &
[NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTamd64.6.1]

plus Copy/paste the entries under the [NVIDIA_SetB_Devices.NTamd64.6.0] and it works now for me.
I ve got a Geforce 250 GTS btw

thx Abremms and all of you

I hope that solves my ingame problem...i have to try now...

Awesome that you guys found an exact fix for all this. I'm still attempting to figure this out, not being a driver expert. What I'm confused on is exactly what needs to be modified. I get that i need to set one of the following:

NVIDIA_DEV.0618.01 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M"
NVIDIA_DEV.0618.02 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M "
NVIDIA_DEV.0618.03 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M "
NVIDIA_DEV.0618.04 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M "

On some nv_disp.inf. I noticed the file posted earlier already had it. Do I have to go through every single inf file in my display folder and change its values to reflect this? Also after modifying all these inf, do I have to then "reinstall" the driver? I get the general idea of what you guys are trying to do, just want to make sure I have it set up all right. Anyway you can break the steps down for us noobs? lol

Oh and just like you guys I got a GTX 260M.

You need to grab one of those that pertains to your device and put it in the nv_disp.inf of the beta driver you're trying to use. Mobile drivers might have multiple .infs, but desktop drivers that you are trying to mod only have that one .inf that needs to be changed.

So my device is a mobile device aka GTX 260M, I grabbed the nv_disp.inf that was on this post. I'm not sure how to find out what my exact subsys is.  I tried to look under dxdiag and my driver info, this is all I could find:

From hardware id's in device manager:

PCI\\VEN_10DE&DEV_0618&SUBSYS_1A521043&REV_A2PCI\\VEN_10DE&DEV_0618&SUBSYS_1A521043PCI\\VEN_10DE&DEV_0618&CC_030000PCI\\VEN_10DE&DEV_0618&CC_0300
From compatible id's in device manager:

PCI\\VEN_10DE&DEV_0618&REV_A2PCI\\VEN_10DE&DEV_0618PCI\\VEN_10DE&CC_030000PCI\\VEN_10DE&CC_0300PCI\\VEN_10DEPCI\\CC_030000&DT_0PCI\\CC_030000PCI\\CC_0300&DT_0PCI\\CC_0300
Device instance path of device manager:

PCI\\VEN_10DE&DEV_0618&SUBSYS_1A521043&REV_A2\\4&39818A5E&0&0008
lol so that's what version 2?

 I see that its on the lines of code just like I listed above. How can I tell what inf's my laptop uses? Just all the inf inside the nvidia/displaydriver folder?

Then once I get that far, then what do I edit to get this all working?

The lines of code you'd need, are these ones, as you have the same SUBSYS as me, paste in the appropriate sections in the nv_disp.inf, and edit for 64-bit as necessary. I believe I grabbed this from the nvam.inf from the 267.24 beta drivers for the GTX 260M.

[NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTx86.6.0]
%NVIDIA_DEV.0618.01% = Section013, PCI\\VEN_10DE&DEV_0618&SUBSYS_1A521043

[NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTx86.6.1]
%NVIDIA_DEV.0618.01% = Section014, PCI\\VEN_10DE&DEV_0618&SUBSYS_1A521043

[Strings]
NVIDIA_DEV.0618.01 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M"

K is that it? Gonna test it now. I don't need to re-run the setup.exe?

Also i put the nv_disp.inf in

C:\\nvidia\\DisplayDriver\\267.24\\Vista 64-bit\\International\\Display.Driver

which is where all the other inf files are like nvaa.inf nvam.inf and such.

No, you wanna put the nv_disp.inf with the desktop driver, and the best one out now is 267.59. 267.24 doesn't work without freezing, at least for me, and I have a GTX 260M as well. Edit the nv_disp.inf included with that driver, and put the sections that I pasted in my last post in it.

K after playing around with it, i got the idea. So I have the 267.59 forceware from gpu guru's, the only problem is it won't let me install it. You saying I just have to edit the nv_disp.inf in order to install it?

Nvm, downloading the one you gave me. I guess the other I got was bad. So just change those lines and install? Also you have:

[NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTx86.6.0]

[NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTx86.6.1]

Is your NT because of a different operating system? If so holy crap lol. If your running win xp with with a GTX 260M, I can only imagine how fast your running. I'm on win 7 x64.

Well I did say modify for 64-bit as necessary. I believe the appropriate sections you are looking for are...

[NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTamd64.6.0] and [NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTamd64.6.1]

Paste the sections that I gave you for 6.0 and 6.1 in their appropriate 64-bit counterparts in the 267.59 nv_disp.inf.

Using high quality, with dx 11 anti aliasing x8, anisotropic filtering x16, my native resolution for my lcd is (which sucks but oh well) 1366 x 768, full screen mode, with vertical sync. Preforms well, but sometimes I get slow down, thought its normally only for a second.

You can probably help performance by dropping VSync, and by definitely turning down AA from 8x to 4x, especially on the GTX 260M. You don't really notice too much of a difference either. Just something to try.
