For one, DA2 is considered "average" by BSN users - DAO's acceptance is at 90%. 66% of BSN members prefer DAO over a combination of DA2/both equally enjoyable. Currently, most users claim they will not purchase DLC for DA2.
I understand these forums do not represent the entirety of the DA fanbase, but isn't it pretty clear we (based on the majority) prefer Knowles vision of DA over Laidlaw's? Normally I don't mention names in my posts, but Laidlaw has recently been saying things like "I" and "In my opinion" which implies that DA2 was a game tailored to his likes and not the fans likes.
PS - This purpose of this post is not to insult Mike - it is to raise awareness of the fact that the BSN fanbase prefers DAO over the more recent DA2.
I apoligize if it was interpreted differently.

Last one. This time both "DA2: Yay! or Nay!" & "DAO: Yay! or Nay!" polls on single chart.

Those numbers explain everything perfectly.
Maybe they are trying to build two rival sides for an upcoming Dragon Age MMO? Those who like DA2 vs those who dislike DA2. Populations of the two factions would really be balanced.

We have our BioWare team to thank for that.

I laughed when I saw the first example listed under the "videogames" tab for that Trope. Go ahead, look for yourself.

Polls are cool and all, but you all realize this is basically indicative of nothing at all? If ever a population suffered from selection bias, it would be video game forums.
True, but less than 2 minutes of searching has shown the games mixed reception exists beyond this board -

Metacritic
Before anybody jumps down my throat by claiming that I am biased, I choose one neutral website with user ratings with the other two alternating between hate/love. My point? While we may be vocal in our "hate" of DA2, that does not dismiss the fact that we are not alone in our opinions of the games apparent mediocrity.
The last triple AAA I've purchased was MK 2011 and the fans love it. Most threads over at FDMK, MK Online, Netherealm Studios, (ect.) have been overwhelmingly positive/supportive of the latest MK game. Why does this matter? It proves that both hardcore and casual fans, as a whole, can accept/enjoy a game equally.
It also proves that the intense (I prefer passionate) speeches are at least somewhat warrented if the games official boards are in the state they are today. If so many people (both in and outside this board) are complaining over the quality of DA2, then isn't the hate it receives valid/appropriate?
edit - links are acting funny. Sorry about that.

Characters: DA2
Combat: DA2, they play fairly differently but you can play DA2 like DA:O but not vice-versa
Interface, Looting, etc.: DA2
Content: DA:O, not including DLC for either, DA:O has more content and feels more varied
