Hi everyone - to help coordinate the clutter, I'm creating a series of official sticky threads covering major issues.

This
is the official thread for any issues that are preventing you from CONNECTING or LOGGING INTO the game. If you're experiencing such an issue or have a
solution to such an issue, please post and discuss it here.

Thanks!

TIPS:
  • It appears that most of these issues are being caused by EA servers being blocked by various Spyware / Adware blockers such as Norton, PeerBlock, and Spybot Search & Destroy. Look through the list of blocked sites and unblock any sites ending with ".ea.com". If you don't know how to do this, post the name of your anti-virus software and ask for help from other users.
  • This can also be driven by your Windows HOSTS file in %windir%\\System32\\drivers\\etc - as with the Spyware / Adware blockers, delete any entries ending with ".ea.com".
UPDATE: March 11, 10:45 pm MST

  • For those experiencing drive-related errors, these should now be fixed in the 1.01 BETA patch.
  • We do experience the occasional regional outage and tonight we'll be replacing a piece of server hardware that's been giving us some trouble. In general, however, these outages are brief and temporary in nature - they definitely don't explain the persistent inability to connect that some of you are experiencing.
  • For those comparing to Dragon Age: Origins, we did swap over to new online technology for DA2 so it's not going to  be a useful comparison. For those unable to connect in DA2, can you tell me if that was also the case for the demo? What about other EA titles from 2011?

At this point, our best research suggests that the remaining login issues are related to firewalls, blocked ports, and interference from anti-virus software. The fact that a number of you have had success on that front is encouraging. We're going to continue to investigate this, however, as it's important that we get everyone up and running.

Thank you for your continued patience!

Hello, I am getting the same no disc in drive A: which I can cancel when I alt-tab out of the game, but it will also not connect to any server. Can you please give some more specific details on how to correct this problem.

I also tried to pause my kaspersky internet security ver 11.0.1.400 as well as checked all exceptions and made sure that an exception was added to windows firewall as well. I have also checked the config utility and told it countless times that i had a dedicated internet connection and then clicked save settings but it seems like the setting is never saved. I looked in my host files and there is nothing but an example of what needs to be in there, and I also do not have spybot search and destroy installed anymore. I have been trying since release to login and it is still saying the same thing.

I bought the game from steam and i have had similar problems with this in the past. I have a 2.6 ghz intel core 2 duo with 4 gigs of ram and a gforce 8800m gts, running vista 64 bit ultimate the game plays fine otherwise.

I hope you can offer me some help.

I I am running Norton 360 and it does not appear to be blocking any sites and I have checked the windows host file and is it not blocking any .ea sites. I have then tried to login in with all security software disabled. No luck.

Everytime I try to login I get the following errors:

DragonAge2.exe - Drive not ready:
The drive is not ready for use, its door may be open. Please check drive A: and make sure that a a disk is inserted and the drives door is closed.

Followed by:
DragonAge2.exe - No Disk:
There is mo disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive \\Device\\Harddisk4\\DR4

I'd like to know exactly what ports DA2 tries to connect to, because it doesn't seem to be stated by anyone anywhere. Hard to configure a firewall to allow for that. (Times like this I wish I just used a software one, that'd make life easier, eh?)

I read a post by someone on the Dragon Age: Origins forums that had the ports. I am not really sure they are the same for this game because I haven't tried yet. I'm sort of leery of opening up ports full time.

Same error as some of you - no disk in drive A. My A: drive is my floppy disk drive, which I haven't seen used by any game in YEARS. I honestly don't even know why I have it. If I hit cancel on this error it won't connect, if I hit try again it locks up.
Specs:
Intel quad core extreme duo 2 3ghz processor
ATI Radeon 5970 in Eyefinity, 5292x1050 resolution
8gb RAM
Windows 7 64bit

Hey I recently got mine to work by allowing the following ports access through my firewall:

TCP: 42127
UDP: 1900
UDP: 5355

I had no IP's listed under my hosts file, so hopefully this will help those of you out who also do not have it listed. Try checking your session logs in your router to see which ports dragon age is trying to access, and then open them if the one's I listed don't work.

127.0.0.1 gosredirector.ea.com doesn't appear at all in my HOSTS file. the 127.0.0.1 does, but it says localhost afterwards. Infact the following is the entire contents of said file:

# Copyright © 1993-2006 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

127.0.0.1 localhost
::1 localhost

How did you guys disable your Floppy Drive? I find this problem hilarious because I Don't have a floppy drive! I build my own PC's and haven't had the need for a floppy drive in 5 years.

I have Drunkmc's problem. I don't have an A drive, and when I try and log in, I get the 'Drive not Ready' error, over and over.

-EDIT-

Despite not having a Floppy, and not having one for years, it seems Windows wants to tell me I have one anyway. So I went into Device Manager and disabled it, we'll see if it clears anything up for me. Image IPB

I went to BIOS and disabled it from there.

The game cant connect to the Dragon Age 2 server.
I tried everything, I marked the firewall exception, turned the firewall off entirely, it just doesnt connect.

I have the Steam-Version of DA2, the german language one to be precise.
I do have a router, but I do not know which ports to open for DA2, dynamic ports are enabled.

EDIT:  This fixed it for me, look below.

This finally worked for me after reinstalling:

Thanks to user wowwilly629:

I've FINALLY solved my problem. The reason why Windows 7 was saying
that it was incompatible with the dragon age2.exe file was, I think,
because of my AVG blocking the dragon age2 activation and listing it as a
Vundo virus.

Now, what I did was I went to AVG settings, went
to the "exceptions" tab under Resident Shield then added this line to
the "add path" tab: C:\\Users\\Username\\AppData\\Local\\Temp\\mtka_tmp

That should unblock the activation application. After that I just authenticated and activated my copy of DA2.

Hope this helps!

P.S. Dunno if this helped too, but I downloaded and installed the Nvidia beta drivers too.
