For those of you still struggling to connect, please list any antivirus software installed on your machine as that may help us connect the dots.

Thanks,
Rob

I'm using Avast.

No idea if this helps, but I'm going to post what I found in the DragonAge_1.log:

Error You have lost your connection to the Dragon Age servers. You will be unable to access online features of the title until you connect again. [3;800f0000(SDK_ERR_DISCONNECT_OVERFLOW)]

I also installed the game on my laptop, and it will not let me connect on it either. It also has Avast installed.

I am still having problems as well. The second I log in, I get "you have lose your connection to the EA servers" this happens every time I play.

Exactly my problem and looking at the german forums almost made me believe I was the only one...

The really strange thing is, a couple of weeks ago I had no problem at all. I did buy and register the All-class Item-Pack easily and played it, then I didn't play for a few days and suddenly I get the same message as quoted above. The same happend in ME2, but (and that I find most strange) in ME2 I CAN MANUALLY log in, after clicking the "OK"-Button in the failure message. Sure, the message does come every time I start the game, but at least I can get a connection and register content.
With DA2 this doesn't work. Since I didn't make any changes to my system, router, firewall or anything, I really have no Idea how this can suddenly happen, so I figure there must be something with the Servers or in Patch 1.3.

Asking the support for help was quite a waste of time, their best idea was to uninstall the CD-Version and install a Version downloaded via "Origin", which did not fix the problem and made me lose the registration for all the DLCs I had before and now cannot get again without the server-connection. Last thing I heard from them was, that they had forwarded the problem to someone and ask me for patience. That was about two weeks ago...

I am really out of ideas. How can something like this happen after working out for month, without me changing anything about my system? And how is it possible that ME2 can still manually connect, but DA2 can't?
I am not very experienced with stuff like "ports" or anything and would not like to mess with it, unless I absolutely have to, so I place my hope on EA. Don't let me down, guys!

Well I already tried shutting down my firewall and I don't use the Windows Firewall anyway, but if it helps you find the problem here's the info you asked for Mr. Bartels:

I am using Windows XP Home and Avira AntiVir Personal 10.0

Still having problems. :( I use avast! (and malwarebyte's anti-malware & windows firewall).

I didn't have any problems until a few weeks ago (just in time to unlock some stuff and not be able to redeem 'em :P). I've turned everything off, tried nearly every suggestion in this thread, and the patch didn't help (though it was a very nice patch all things considered XD).

Antivirus software is updating in the background on a fairly regular basis (which is important to ensure your computer remains protected). We're not sure yet if that's the cause here but it would certainly explain how the behavior could work one month and not the next, with no discernable change occurring in-between.

We're continuing to investigate. One thing that you could do for us would be to go to your Windows command line and type "ping gosredirector.ea.com" - if that fails, it suggests that something is blocking access to our servers. If it succeeds (which I suspect it will in many of your cases), that suggests that something spooky is going on and your inability to connect is somehow limited to the game itself.

Thanks,
Rob

For the record, I am able to log in and stay logged in when playing Mass Effect 2 (Downloaded with Origin), and DA Origins UE (disc based) using the same account. I also tried logging in without patch 1.03 installed, and still got the same message about losing my connection to the servers.

Ping works. I use Trend Micro Titanium Maximum Security.

Out of curiosity, I tried logging in without any patches installed and was able to log in.

On a side note, I had changed my EA account password and forgot to change it within the game. With auto-login enabled, I got the message stating "Unable to connect to Dragon Age servers. Please try again." I clicked OK then clicked Log In and typed in the new password. Just mentioning it in case people changed their EA account password (and/or email address) and forgot to update the game with the info.

On the off chance that there is some error with one of the hops you are connecting through I would suggest trying a tracert instead of ping and see if any of them time out. Does the error occur instantaneously or does it take a few seconds?

'tracert' is the command for running a trace route, it's similar to a ping except that it follows a data package from your IP through each hop to it's destination. In this case type "tracert gosredirector.ea.com" in to your command prompt.

It happens instantaneous for me. With trace route, request timed out 26 out of 30 times.

Edit: Ok earlier I was having connection problems, so I reset my modem and now the trace works fine. But I'm still not able to log in.

Since I fixed my password, I have not gotten an error. If it helps, here is my traceroute.

Tracing route to gosredirector.ea.com [159.153.235.22]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

  1     8 ms     8 ms     8 ms  *** [editted for security]
  2     7 ms    12 ms    18 ms  *** [editted for security]
  3     *        *        *     Request timed out.
  4    20 ms    19 ms    19 ms  64.15.6.182
  5     *        *        *     Request timed out.
  6    26 ms    15 ms    22 ms  Eth1-7.edge03.abn-iad.ea.com [206.223.115.55]
  7    21 ms    15 ms    18 ms  edge01.abn-iad.ea.com [159.153.224.218]

I figured it wasn't going to help but it's always worth a shot (plus learning how tracert works is, imo, quite a useful PC tip as it lets you bypass DNS issues when websites switch IPs)

Double check to make sure your password is being saved correctly as some users here have reported that an incorrect saved password produces this same error. This could happen if you changed the password to your account via the web interface I believe. In the mean time we'll continue working with EA as well as the community to try to fix this issue.

My antivirus is McAfee VirusScan v.8.7. I haven't changed my password or anything. I too bought the All Items pack and was able to download it then I wasn't able to log in anymore. I have the game on three different computers here at home. I have the EA download version. None of the other computers were able to get the All items pack. Just my personal laptop.
This is part of my log if it helps:
OnlineFeatures::UserSettingsLoadCallback
 OnlineFeatures::OnServerSettingsLoaded
 OnlineFeatures::OnServerDataSynched
 OnlineFeatures::BlazeStateEventHandler::onBlazeStateChange 11 -> 3 (error 800f0000)
 OnlineFeatures::OnDisconnected
 OnlineFeatures::OnError
 Error You have lost your connection to the Dragon Age servers. You will be unable to access online features of the title until you connect again. [3;800f0000(SDK_ERR_DISCONNECT_OVERFLOW)]

**I didn't have a problem with either pinging or the tracing thing.
