"There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive \\Device\\Harddisk2\\DR2"
[edit]
In light of what others have said about the floppy drive, I tried disabling various drives and disabling my card reader cleared the error. I do kinda need my card reader though!!

I did manage to login just pressing the continue button but it sure were anoying.
So i managed to get the thing working by disabling the flobby drive from device manager.
And after that when i launched the game it didn't give that error anymore and works like a charm.

When using the DA2 launcher to start the game, during logging in on the EA servers a message pops up that you need to insert a disk in Drive A or other drive.
Solution:
Do not use the launcher to start the game instead use the DA2.exe in de Dragon Age 2\\Data\\Bin_ship\\ directory.
With this you will no longer be prompted to inster a disk in a drive.

The username and password could not be more correct. I have gone into the Bioeware and EA account pages fine with the same details. I have turned fire walls and other anti virus software off, added exceptions to ea.com, and also reinstalled from scratch. All to no avail.
If anyone has a suggestion, it would be muchly appreciated.

Hey I recently got mine to work by allowing the following ports access through my firewall:
TCP: 42127
UDP: 1900
UDP: 5355
I had no IP's listed under my hosts file, so hopefully this will help those of you out who also do not have it listed. Try checking your session logs in your router to see which ports dragon age is trying to access, and then open them if the one's I listed don't work.
Those ports didn't work for me. When I open all outgoing traffic from my computer in my firewall I can connect to the servers in the game. Otherwise I can't, not even when allowing those ports to the outgoing traffic. I also had no IP's listed under my hosts file, but as I can connect to the servers when I open all outgoing traffic, it has to be a port-problem. Would love to hear from BioWare which ports Dragon Age II uses, because the ones listed above can't be all of them.
And I also have the "no-disc-problem". I haven't tried yet, but I guess I will solve it by disabling my A-drive in my BIOS.
As for the problem with the connection try opening ports 15101-15325 (TCP) and port 12025 (TCP). Worked for me.
Thanks, those ports worked for me as well!

Are the activation servers down? Got through the installation, release date check, and to the login screen, and now I'm confronted with "Please check your internet connection. If the problem persists, please wait and try again later because the servers may be temporarily unavailable." I don't think there's a problem with my internet connection (Everything else is working fine, including DA:O login and authentication). So... are the servers down, or is something else broken? Windows 7 64x, EU Signature Edition from Amazon, hard copy delivered fresh this morning.
Do you have an EA Account? As well as your Bioware social account? You need both..

As far as I know, yes. Is this is a new change since DA:O and Bioware's other games? Because those have worked fine without me having to mess with it. But honestly... the game gives the same message whether my password is right or wrong, so I don't think it's a login problem so much as a connection problem, if that makes sense.
Rather amusing, just got onto some live tech support with someone at EA, who suggested everything that has been posted in this thread so far, then gave up and told me she was referring my problem to senior management.
I want to play the game I paid for, EA.

I had the error, with the missing A-drive, and the missing Harddisk 5 through 9
"There is no disk in the drive..... Please insert a disk into drive \\Device\\Harddisk5\\DR5"
I fixed it, as suggested, and went into Device Manager and disabled the floppy drive
AND
I disconnected my usb cable from my "Sandberg" SD card reader, and that fixed the "Harddisk5\\DR5-9"
Oh. and that fixed the connection error too...
Thanks for the help

Hi, my name is Jeremy. How may I help you?
2517F8C424F526C1 CC7F98E6CF299B5B: I cannot activate my PC version of Dragon Age 2.
Jeremy: May I know from where have you purchased your copy of the game.
2517F8C424F526C1 CC7F98E6CF299B5B: Amazon.com, the DVD version, not direct download.
2517F8C424F526C1 CC7F98E6CF299B5B: I spoke to another person regarding this 30 minutes ago but I've received no reply since. I've been through the community forum already and tried the other fixes, they don't help, sadly.
Jeremy: Are you getting any kind of an error message?
2517F8C424F526C1 CC7F98E6CF299B5B: "Please check your internet connection. If the problem persists, wait and try again later as the servers may be temporarily unavailable."
2517F8C424F526C1 CC7F98E6CF299B5B: The activator doesn't even seem to try and connect, the error appears instantly when I press sign in.
Jeremy: Yes
Jeremy: Please wait for a while.
Jeremy: I would like to inform you that the servers for the game are temporarily down please try to play after some time.
Jeremy: I regret for the inconvenience caused to you.
2517F8C424F526C1 CC7F98E6CF299B5B: The person I spoke to previously told me there was no problem with the activation servers.
2517F8C424F526C1 CC7F98E6CF299B5B: And can you give me an estimate for how long they will be down?
Jeremy: Please try to play after some time and you would be able to play.
2517F8C424F526C1 CC7F98E6CF299B5B: Okay. I'll wait for another hour...

You appear to have *exactly* the same problem as me...
And I spoke to a guy called Joseph who said they'd had "a few" people contact them with a similar problem...
What's weird is that I was able to install it just fine on my girlfriend's laptop. :-\\
Well, by fine I mean an error message appeared saying it couldn't activate it with my serial, but then I just re-typed the serial (With the dashes) and it worked...
Sigh...
I wanna play now!

Funny thing. The first tech support person I spoke to was a girl called Jessie. Are all the EA tech support people bots with J-names? Joanne? Jessica? Joshua?

I used Wireshark to try and see what the activation application was doing and *sometimes* when you hit Sign In it sends off a DNS request to proxy.novafusion.ea.com? Dunno if that's relevant but I can't see much else relating to DA / EA.

I have similar, but different, to the floppy disk error. Mine seems to be asking me to insert a hard disk!
"There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive DeviceHarddisk2DR2"
[edit]
In light of what others have said about the floppy drive, I tried disabling various drives and disabling my card reader cleared the error. I do kinda need my card reader though!!
I too had the same problem, not beeing able to log in because it gave me an error similiar to what target had, and that is asking me to inset a disk into drive DeviceHarddisk4DR4 and not in drive A since it always been disabled at me. Then i tried what target did and disabled my card reader that came with the lcd screen and now by miracle i can log in!
I do not see any relation between my cardreader and this game and not leting me log in , this sounds really stupid and besides why would i disable some hardware on my computer to be able to log in on a game server. I hope this will be fixed soon along with other crap that makes this game unplayable, i am starting to feel sorry i preordered this game.

I have a really confusing problem, I have installed the game successfully but when It asks me to activate the game on my computer, asking for my EA account details, it says that i have an invalid e-mail and user name. The only thing that confuses me is that they are correct, I tested it by trying to log in to EA, it worked fine, so it isn't incorrect. I tried changing my password but with the same result. HELP?!
You have to have 2 user accounts and password for the game to work. One for the Bioware social site (which you have) but you also have to use the same email address and register on EA's site.
If you do not have both it will not let you login at all, because instead of like DA:O where it logins into bioware. DA2 logs into EA instead. Basically you need to make a master account with EA so you can use your bioware account.
When you create the profile on EA's account it should say MASTER ID Xshadowunx. if you don't see this it isn't linked correctly..
(trying to hunt down the steps)
