Same here: I have both EA and BioWare accounts, everything went fine with installation, now I'm stuck with endless "check your connection" (which obviously works, since I'm writing here) message. Signature Edition.

Just tried it on yet *another* internet connection. (Just in case)
Still no luck with the "Check your connection..." message.

Windows 7 Home Premium x64.

@ anyone with the 'no disc in drive A' problem:

go to your computer's BIOS (restart and pres the 'del' key repeatedly untill a (usually) blue menu screen pops up) navigating the BIOS is straightforward, use the arrow keys to navigate, enter to select an option and esc to go back. to save changes and exit press F10.

find the option 'legacy floppy drive' or similar and disable it. then press F10 to save and restart your pc.

fixed the problem for me.

Same issue here. Either tells me my password is wrong, or just opens up a new version of the launcher and asked me to sign in again.

I wouldn't worry too much, I think it's just that their activation servers are down because, for 1, a guy said earlier that a tech support guy told him that, and 2, their website keeps crashing. If I'm wrong and someone's figured out a way to do it then please share your greatness!

try resetting the password but don't use special character like @ ? $ etc

Password might be running into issues with that if you're using special characters

Hopefully... Just seems weird though!
I've been trying on/off since just after midnight (UK time) to activate my game.
The servers definitely can't have been offline for almost 17 hours surely. :-(

Hmm, got AVG 2011.

While login in with my account in the game I get an error (can hear the sound) and a black screen.
Ctrl+Alt+Del and I can see it. All in all I can press continue, sometimes it works and I can play.
Weird stuff.

I have the exact same issue :S tried disabling my firewall, resetting my password etc. and nothing seems to work. Does anybody have an ideas what could be causing it?

No, I'm having the endless "check your internet connection" problem.  I went to EA's live chat support feature to try to figure out what was going on, and I was dropped twice.

I have an EA and Bioware account (both same username etc). I have registered my game and my promo goodies on the website fine. However when the game tries to authenticate on the very first load it fails and advises me "We could not activate Dragon Age II on this computer using the EA account you provided. Please locate your product key to activate the game using your EA account."

The username and password could not be more correct. I have gone into the Bioeware and EA account pages fine with the same details. I have turned fire walls and other anti virus software off, added exceptions to ea.com, and also reinstalled from scratch. All to no avail.

If anyone has a suggestion, it would be muchly appreciated.

Exactly the same problem here mate... It asks me to activate using the
registration key then just hangs likes it's waiting for something

Listen to this fellow! I have been pulling my hair out trying to get my game activated & constantly being told I was offline - I even ditched my custom Hosts file, still nothing.

1 Home Hub re-boot later - activation complete - thx m8;)

Still cannot get the game to say anything other than "You must be connected to the internet to acess online features of this title. This is getting frustrating as all get out especially since when I try what all the other people who say they fixed their problem and it does nothing for me.

OS: Windows Vista 64-Bit
Anti-virus: AVG
Firewall: Windows firewall.

Also: I submitted a ticket on the day of release and they didn't even answer until yesterday and the guy assumed I was having a problem logging in to my actual EA account and reset my password, sent me a new code, and then sent a customer support satisfaction survey like "Job complete!"

Hey everyone.
I'm getting the "incompatible with 64-bit" error message when I hit play. The only thing I've found here on the forums is a "hack" solution and I'm VERY uncomfortable with that! (besides this would be beyond my computer abilities) I have windows vista home premium. Yes, a 64-bit computer. I've had my game since Tuesday and would really like to play it.
Bioware, is there a 'fix' coming out for this? I never had any problems with Origins or Awakenings....

Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit here, but same issue.

No matter what I do... "You must be connected to the internet to acess online features of this title."

Just like with the demo.  Obviously, I have an internet connection...  [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/wizard.png[/smilie]

The ONLY thing that worked with the demo so I could unlock the items was to Enable the "Administrator" account and use it directly.  My default log-in has Administrator rights directly, but for whatever reason, switching to that account did the trick.

This is not an issue for Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition, or any other gaming product I own, so I don't know why it is an issue for DA2.

I have my firewall and other protection software disabled and I have to wait several minutes every time I start the game while it tries to log in and inevitably fails. I didn't have this problem with DA1 or ME2.

Hi everyone. Thanks for working together to try to find solutions. We're not out of the woods yet but here are a few updates:
  • For those experiencing drive-related errors, these should now be fixed in the 1.01 BETA patch.
  • We do experience the occasional regional outage and tonight we'll be replacing a piece of server hardware that's been giving us some trouble. In general, however, these outages are brief and temporary in nature - they definitely don't explain the persistent inability to connect that some of you are experiencing.
  • For those comparing to Dragon Age: Origins, we did swap over to new online technology for DA2 so it's not going to be a useful comparison. For those unable to connect in DA2, can you tell me if that was also the case for the demo? What about other EA titles from 2011?
At this point, our best research suggests that the remaining login issues are related to firewalls, blocked ports, and interference from anti-virus software. The fact that a number of you have had success on that front is encouraging. We're going to continue to investigate this, however, as it's important that we get everyone up and running.

Thanks you for your continued patience!
