I'm getting "You must be connected to the internet to access online features of the title" error, no matter what I do, I'm logged in everywhere with the same mail adress, I tried turning off everything that could make a problem for connection to EA servers, I ran this game as administrater - nothing helps.

I activated game and my dlc content, everything is shown properly on the list in my bioware profile.
Still the game just doesn't want to log in and gives me that annoying error.

I have the same problem. But as I wrote before when you run the game from the built in administrator account everything seems to be ok (you're connected to the servers) except that I can't download any DLC because the list is empty. Even though I've activated my redeem code.

More information about built in administrator account.
http://www.sevenforu...le-disable.html

My DLC list was empty as well. So I had to manually download and install each of the addons then they appeared fine... :)  You can download the addons via "Your registered game content" page.

Are there still other people being unable to activate their game?
I can't even get past that screen. Still says Please check your internet connection... etc.
I was able to connect to the servers in the demo, but that was in-game. I can't even get in-game right now. :pinched:

ur not alone, i m having this problem also. n yes i can play the demo as well. lodged a complain to the tech support, went to live chat for help as well. m still waiting for higher level support.

Yeah, same... I hope I get a response from this higher-level soon! >:(
I guess it's kinda good that there's a few people with the same problem, means they should hopefully look into it soon... I mean, not being able to *ACTIVATE* the game is a pretty big thing!

If I get any useful advice I'll be sure to post it here.

Sorry, here's the simple version.  I nerded out the long version so the boys at Bioware can possibly address the problem.

Go to your C:WindowsSystem32driversetc folder and there's a file called 'hosts'.  Right-click open it and choose say Notepad to open the file.  (You're probably going to need administrator privilage to save it.)

You will see a bunch of crap that starts with a '#'.  These are lines that are "turned off"--they don't matter.

Make a new line somewhere--it doesn't matter where in the file--and type in "159.153.235.22  gosredirector.ea.com".  Save the file.  Re-run DA2 and it should work.

(If you see the following line in the hosts file, remove it: "127.0.0.1 gosredirector.ea.com")

And this allowed me to get to the disk A: problem but fixed that with the patch: http://social.biowar...index/6482838/1

And the firewall is blocking some ports when I turned it back on.

-ViolentMoodSwing

Nice idea, but in my case it didn't solve the problem. Still "check your internet connection".

Just confirming that this didn't work for me. :-(
Still not able to activate my game due to the "Check your connection error."

Some help, please BioWare? :-(
I pre-ordered this in January and haven't been able to play at all yet. (Apart from the demo, which worked A-Okay)
Getting a little bit frustrated now.
Okay, a lot frustrated.

I also tried LordHerpes fix and it didn't work for me, although now there is a bit of lag between submitting my username and pw and the message "Please check you connection..." as opposed to instananeous error message. The message "connecting" flashed from a second and for that second I had hope, but then it was dashed again by that error.

Demo worked fine for me too.

I downloaded an installed the DLC but it seems unless I get over the "You must be connected ..." issue I can´t play it. I tried the listed ways to move around the problem, disabled firewall and AVG, but it still won´t connect.

Is another patch or any other solution in the works?

The "Connecting" message is a bit hit and miss for me, but even when it appears it disappears really quickly.
Usually only appears the first time I try when my computer's just been turned on again.

I'm a bit surprised no one from BioWare has commented on this thread / issue all day. I still haven't received the email I'm waiting on from tech. support.

I keep getting the error "The Dragon Age servers are temporarily unavailable. Please try again." when I start the game.
No idea what to make of this. Getting this error since morning and can't find anyone else with this similar error. Are the servers really down or is my game acting up? Any suggestions?

This content has now unlocked in your game. To see the content:
  • Run Dragon Age II.
  • Please ensure you log in with the same account you used on the social website.
  • Verify the content appears in the Unlockables screen by selecting Extras on the Main Menu, then Unlockables.
  • Start a new game or load an existing one.
  • The items will appear in a chest in your house. Follow the instructions in the game journal.

It's possible you need to have "127.0.0.1 localhost" in the hosts file--mine was originally commented out with a '#'.

Try this:
  1.   In the hosts file, make sure you have "127.0.0.1 localhost" without the leading '#' and
"159.153.235.22  gosredirector.ea.com" in the file.   If you have other aliases in the host file, comment them out with a '#' or remove them entirely (make a copy of your hosts file first).  Now you should really only have the two above entries.  Save the hosts file.  Run DA2 and see if it works.

My ping also worked without the entry in the hosts file.

127.0.0.1 is commented out in mine as well, but that shouldn't be an issue.
Here's the output from pinging gosredirector:

Also, you might try this:
  0.  Do the above steps so you only have those two entries.
  1.  Make sure to disable any firewalls and spyware applications.
  2.  Go to C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Dragon Age 2.
  3.  Right-click on the "DragonAge2Launcher" application and select "Run as Administrator" (even if you are an administrator).  See if that works.

For those comparing to Dragon Age: Origins, we did swap over to new
online technology for DA2 so it's not going to be a useful comparison.
For those unable to connect in DA2, can you tell me if that was also the
case for the demo? What about other EA titles from 2011?

I was unable to connect in the demo as well. I'm also unable to connect in Dead Space 2. And I'm unable to connect in Mass Effect 2, but prior to January, I having no problems with Mass Effect 2.

I think mine must be a problem with the whole gosredirector.ea.com thing, however even when I add it to my hosts file exactly how you said, disable my firewall and anti-virus, I still get "Request timed out" 4 times when I ping it using cmd.

My error is slightly different to penguins though, as I just get the "invalid email or password" message whenever I try to log in.

I've also been waiting for an e-mail from tech support since saturday...sigh...

That would be the correct message for unlockables, but not DLC.  You
can't download items. Right now there are 3 things you can dowload Exile
prince, Signature Edition pack, and Black Emporium. All others will
appear in a special delievies chest in your uncles home once you reach
kirkwall.

To view unlockables go into the game under Extras, Unlockables. Ones you don't have access to will be greyed out.

Didn't they take down the cerberus network? and do you have an EA account besides your Bioware social network account?
