I just bought Dragon Age 2 and installed it onto my PC. My dad also tried to install it to play on his own PC but you need a whole new serial number. I don't really understand why they have done this to Dragon Age 2, Dragon Age was able to be played on more then one PC without having different serial numbers and I think it is silly not been able to have it on multiple PC's in the same house.

I was hoping to be able to share the game with my family members, I don't want to pirate it or put it online or nothing, I just want everyone in my house to be able to play the game without having to buy a whole new one just for a new serial number. We aren't rich so it isn't like we can just buy one copy each. Is there a way you can buy a new serial number that hasn't been used at all?

I'm not entirely sure where this is meant to be put, it isn't technical difficulty stuff, just a simple question, and I never saw a questions thread so I would appreciate it if no one attacked me for not knowing this, I know that happens regularily on sites.

All I need is to be directed to something to buy a new serial numbers for Dragon Age 2 from Bioware, if there are any, so that I can direct my family members to it, and we can all enjoy Dragon Age 2 instead of just me been able to enjoy it. I will not trust any other sites except the official ones.

Hmm I'm not sure about the retail boxed copy, but you can do this for the ditigal edition. I've shared my copy with 3 close friends and family members already.

Wait...what? That makes no sense.

This would prevent people from being able to reinstall if they had to reformat, or bought a new computer, or whatever. What message did you get exactly when you tried to install on his comp?

According to the info in the DRM FAQ (stickied at the top of the forum), you should be able to install on as many machines as you like (you can only activate on 5 in any 24 hour period though).

Thanks for the reply, I don't usually buy the download to drive ones, if that is the only way to have it on multiple pcs I might let other family members know, or even just do that in future.

Thanks for the reply and that little bit of information, if that is the only way to have it on multiple PC's then I think I'll just let my family members know, maybe one can buy that type and share it with teh rest, we all love the game.

Would you have to wait 24 hours to activate it at all?
because my dad tried to install it and activate it after I did, and he got told the serial key was already used and he couldn't activate it.

I think you should be able to reinstall it on your own pc, I haven't tried it though.
My dad got the message saying the serial number had already been used to activate the game and that he couldn't launch it until it is activated.

He has a different PC to my own.

You shouldn't. My understanding from the FAQ is you can activate it on 5 PCs one after the other in the same 24 hour period.

There's no way even a boxed edition can't be installed on multiple PCs There has to be something else up, OP.

EDIT: Was he logged in under a different account? He might have to log in as you.

Would you have to use the same EA account or something?
Because when my dad tried to use one he made for himself it still said he couldn't activate the game.

I believe Sarielle has it. The game is tied to a specific account, so have your dad use yours when installing.

Yes, he made one to try to install it, and it came up with that. I don't know if I am supposed to use mine on other PC's to activate it though.

So that wouldn't be against the rules for the game or anything would it? I just am not sure bout that kind of thing, I'm careful because I don't want my account banned, I've bought a lot of dragon age addons and the such.

Yah sarielle got it, that's why I shared it only with close friends and family because I have to give them my account detail.
