I did a couple of quests for him but he just hangs out at the Chantry and doesn't say anything. Does he join later?

From what I have read he doesn't until chapter 2, which is a bummer. I always dislike when companions are not available until late in the game, it makes them feel wasted.

I think in this case he was intended to replace your lost sibling at the end of Act 2, but I could be wrong.

He joins in the begging of Act 2. Even if you do his quests in Act 1. Might be to replace the Sibling or just for people who don't have him at the start of the game but can get still get him and not miss anything later on.

So if you decided to take your sister into the deep roads, you can't pick him up in the party? Cause I just started into the deep roads and brought Bethany with me.

No he doesn't replace your sibling. The slot with your sibling is grayed out. You get him regardless at the beginning of Year Four (Act 2). There is a companion quest for him.

When I say 'replace' I meant as a potential party member. At the end of teh Deep Roads, your sibling will not be with you anymore.

Can anyone give me specific details on when I get sebastian? Saying at the end of act 1 or begginning of act 2 really tells me nothing for its not showing me what act Im on. How about like which quests do I have to do to get him? Where do I go? Anyone have specific details on when and where he joins or is after act 1 the best anyone can do?

You start with the Mabari if you have the black emporium. He's not a character, he's a sustained ability.

The end of Act 1 is the Deep Roads, and the Beginning of Act 2 is three years after that

if you are talking about the deep roads, then thats act one. im not far in but from what i understand:
ACT I: gather most of ur party and get the money to go to the deep roads
ACT II: deals with the qunari
ACT III: really only a few missions because it is essentially the endgame. that deals with the mage/templar battle

The reason you don't get Seb in act 1 is because hes royalty and your a nobody in act 1. In act 2 you've bought your way to being a noble again.

No, there is only duty in act one. yuo get more once you recruit him

i have a question what happens if you only do the quest duty on act 2?cause i failed to complete it on act 1 so now i did on act 2 but i cant see anymore quest regarding sebastian on act2
