My rig:
Vista 64 Ultimate
Intel Core Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4Ghz
GeForce 8800GTX
Geil 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 RAM
Latest Nvidia driver
I'm not using the high texture pack, and am running under DX9.
It seems like the vast majority of us are using a 64 bit OS, I wonder if that could be part of the issue?

sometimes it happens 3 times in a row less than 10 seconds apart. Sometimes it takes 20mins to happen but it always happens and it's beyond annoying now, I tried checking the files but steam
doesn't pick up any errors, it's rather frustrating.
32 bit Windows 7 service pack 1
3.gb ram
Intel core 2 quad @2.4
Gforce 9600GT BFG with latest drivers

But from reading this thread it seems everyone who has reported the freezing is using Win7 64Bit. So IMO there seems definately be somekind of Windows 7/graphics driver related issue causing the freezing.
I'm having this problem on Windows 7 32 Bit under DX9 and DX11.

And, as others, they seem to be happening mostly during dialogue and cut-scenes, usually skipping parts of the conversation and animation entirely with a black screen, and then when it shows back up it kind of speeds up the video and overlaps when the speech and next part comes in. Its been entirely random as to when it happens, but I been having to reload a lot on the cut-scenes because I am missing out on a lot of them due to this occurring.
We have tried the game in both DX9 and DX11 settings and it happens either way.
My system specs:
ATI Radeon 5770x2 2GB DDR5 VRAM.
Intel Core2Quad 9550 @ 3.0GHZ
8gig DDR2 Ram
Windows Vista Home 64bit
My husbands are near identical except he only has 4 gigs of ram and 1 graphics card.
*edited for god awful typos making it near unreadable....

So it looks like to be something on Bioware's end of the coding. Cause with those specs you should have zero problems with running the game

I can now run mine on the highest settings, hi res pack and DX11. I set it to run as admin, and the compatibility to windows XP (latest service pack) and windowed mode (it makes little difference with my resolution 1920x1080. I was stuttering a lot before, freezes and what not, but now it runs smooth with no problems.
You sure about that? Because windows xp doesn't support DX10 or 11, don't know why compatibility mode would be different and it would also explain why you have no issues: you probably are running the game with DX9

6GB of DDR800 mhz
250 GTS nvidia
Win 7 64 bit
On board realtek sound.
Started with Direct x11 renderer with 1920x1200 AA at 2x and tex sampling maxed. NO texture download either. Lots of intermittent pauses. As the sound would play the screen would start to animate correctly then bam back to waiting for another 30 seconds or so.
Tried disabling and enable V-sync, no help same issue.
Downloaded nvidia latest beta drivers ,no help same issue.
Changed to Direct x 9 renderer and maxed everything, V-sync is off, smooth as silk no pauses after two days of play.
Thats what worked for me hope this helps.

i turned off my antivirus while play and so far i havent had any freeze issues during talking or the game.
That would be worth trying for other people, as well. I myself get these slowdowns too infrequently to test any remedies, but problems with the anti-virus software can cause the slowdown and disconnect symptoms.
I'm running AVG myself, and it only slows down about once every 2 hours. What anti-virus software are other people with crashes running?

It seems there is no regularity with this issue. First time when I had it was hero choose menu... Sometimes it happens when I read text in game sometimes in dialog.

Im running the game on :
Dell precision M6500
Intel® Core i7 CPU Q 720 @ 1.60GHz
8GB RAM
ATI FirePro M7740
Windows 7 pro 64 bit.
Must say Im dissapointed that these critical bugs went through QA, especially since they also were in the demo.

Oh wow, glad you quoted that, I had no idea how unreadable it was with all the typos! XD
But yes, I can't really seem to pinpoint what might be causing it. We don't have the most insane gaming computers, but they run everything else very well with no issues.
We are going to try and put DA2 on the lap top and give it a whirl, see how is performs there.
