The game launches fine. The Red Dragon / EA video plays, followed by the "Press Any Key" screen. When the main menu loads, around the point where the game connects to the EA servers, I get the following messages:

The game runs fine, but these errors every time I launch the game are rather annoying.

Drive A: is my floppy drive (yes they still exist, and yes I actually use it). Harddisk4 and Harddisk5 appear to be my flash media reader (one is the CF Slot, the other is the SD/MMC/MemoryStick slot). Why is the game trying to access these drives at all? And even if it needs to check for something, why does it need to give me a pop-up error message indicating that there is no disk in the drive when the game works perfectly?

Anyone else having the same problem? Any work-arounds? I don't want to disconnect these drives, as they are internal to my PC, so it's not that easy to just unplug the USB connector before I play the game.

Found a few other threads on the same problem (why is there no search function on this forum?).

I suppose I should have tried the obvious work-around of inserting a blank disk in the drive before posting.  That solves the problem for the A: drive and the SD reader.  But since I don't have any CF cards available to insert into the CF reader, I still get one of the errors about that drive...

Other work-arounds are to disable the drives via the BIOS, if possible.  That option doesn't seem to work for my CF reader either, since it's not handled by the BIOS, but is an internal USB device.

I found a better, more general work-around though for the flash readers:
  • Go into "Disk Management" (Adminitrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Storage -> Disk Management)
  • Find the drive(s) that's causing the error
  • Right-Click the drive and choose "Change Drive Letter and Paths..."
  • Click on the drive letter assigned to the drive.
  • Click "Remove..." to remove the assigned drive letter
  • Play DA2.
After playing the game, go into the same options and re-assign the drive letter to get the drive working again.  This seems to work for the flash media reader drives.  The A: drive doesn't show up under Disk Management, but the other work-arounds of either disabling the drive (if you don't use it), or inserting a blank floppy into the drive (if you do use it and don't want to disable it) are easy enough to do.
