What is the best possible group to take down the dragon? I have aveline, anders, varric with me but right now the battle doesnt look like on our side.

What's your class? Turn off Shield Defense on Aveline and dance around the Dragon if you want to cheese him. Otherwise you need upgraded Stonewall and Forcefield.

I took Aveline, Anders, and Sebastian. I was primal/elementalist mage, just had to dance when the dragon would go up the hill. Pretty easy fight if you can heal through the damage... or have enough potions.
