I've killed everybody in the zone, but I still don't have the option to loot the chest in the abandoned house in the Elven Alienage. I accidently left the house mid-fight thanks to the X button spam needed to fight.... Any chance that bugged it permanently for me?

If I remember right you don't loot the chest at all. Though I could be thinking of a different quest...

You loot the chest and find out that its empty. Being that this is a precurser to getting your broody 2hs weilding elf I suggest you reload from a previous save.
